  • imagine being a parent of one of these rock stars and hearing this on the radio.

  • 53 years tomorrow. R.I.P to Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, and Roger Peterson.

  • This is a recreation of what might have happened. The announcer has too much information where back in 1959 it was days before they had all of that stuff nailed down as far as identities, cause of the crash, location, etc. If you think its real then I have a bridge for sale in NYC.

  • can i get the one from la bamba

  • RICHIE VALENS........GOOD 1 LESS BEANER IN THE WORLD!

  • The pilot was Roger Peterson

  • This is faked. There is too much information for a bulletin and the announcer is way too excited.

  • @Trackside1234 they had to use that tone of voice on the radio back then, all news reports were the same tone of voice jsyk

  • @Trackside1234 that was the delivery back then. the world's been around for more than 16 years.

  • Ah man, such a happy sounding reporter for such tragic news. Words of love buddy

  • why is it that no one rememders the pilot i mean sure hes not a famouse singer but he should still be remeberd

  • @mstheman10 He is not "famouse". He was an inexperienced pilot who had no business flying in that kind of weather.

  • rip ritchie valens and buddy holly... and jp(not sure who he was)

  • @luisgdjr J.P. Richardson was "The Big Bopper", best known for his hit "Chantilly Lace".

  • @beachdog67 HE GOT HIS NAME FROM THE GAY BARS HE FREQUENTED AND DRESSED AS A WOMAN!"BIG BOPPER" MEANS HE HAD A BIG DICK THAT WOULD PUT HIS MALE CUSTOMERS TO SLEEP,HE WAS BLOWING THE PILOT WHEN THE PLANE CRASHED.RICHIE VALENS' TURN WAS NEXT AND BUDDY HOLLY WAS TO BE BUKKAKED ON .BUT THEY LOST CONTROL OF THE PLANE DURING A MID-AIR GAY SEX ORGY!

  • What a sad day that was.

    Their music however, lives on.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • oh God :( imagine how Ritchie's mother felt when she heard this.. in the movie that's how it portrays her finding out about her son's death :'( that's so terrible...

  • Why all the dead air after the news thing??

  • THANKS ALOT need to listen to 50s news broadcasts for english barely found any good ones thanks

  • sad

  • It's weird how radio broadcasts sounded back then, much different from nowadays, sounds more terrifying.

  • Me like sucky sucky very much.

  • @tacomadavid68 full metal jacket?

  • The Day the Music died

  • How did you get this broadcast

  • wow...this is one of the most tragic stories i've ever red.... =(

  • here did you get this at

  • I admire the people who make history, spent 50 years and still they continue being remembered and respected, I was born in Argentina in 1975 but I could know about them!

  • rip

  • we shall dance and sing,to remember,the day...the music...died

  • oh what a sad day that was!

  • he sounds happy,I listened to this today in class,we were doing this thing abt ritche valens thats y we heard this

  • The reason they died, couldve been prevented, if they didnt go, and still be alive to this day.

  • oh dear HotrodEvil isn't very bright...

  • My Grandfather has met Ritchie Valens a few times. He told me that he was a very nice honest boy. My Grandfather has an actual recording of this that he taped himself. He was actually at the concert that Ritchie Valens was leaving before he died.

  • Thats great, i bet he loved it! 'Winter dance party tour 1959'. I wish i was born back then but i love this kind of music, i hate modern music...

  • @BlaberButtsInc wow dude:)

  • @BlaberButtsInc could you send me the tape or put it on you tube???? please!!! I'd love to hear it!!! please respond??

  • R.I.P. we lost 3 of the best. and heaven has gained 3 of the best rockers.

  • the voice is weird

  • thats awesome jimjones5775

  • What is all that strange clattering in the background?

  • its the sound of an old typewriter. Thats how they wrote news before computers!!

  • Teletype. Way before the internet!!! hehe

  • ITS NOT the same as the one in the movie, in the movie Ritchie Valens was the 2nd person he said the first was buddy holly in this, the first is Ritchie Valens.

  • hi there.. what movie r u talking about ? is there a movie about buddy's life ? please tell me the title.. thanks

  • Think he reffers to ''La bamba''

  • The Buddy Holly Story

  • Thats not what he is saying! putting it a different way, he is saying he stood there fifty years after the crash to the minute!

  • excuse me, but did i ever say i'm the reporter? no. did i ever say i was actually there 50 years ago? no i have the recording of the new cast but i am not the reporter, i didn't record this myself either, it was a person back then and the recording was passed onto digital format for computer and now i have it.

NO i was not there 50 years ago but i didn't have to be to have the recording

  • Thank you so much for putting this up.

  • no problem :]

  • @pinkyblackish Studing Valens in Spanish, due to this I got an A on my project! thanks!

  • @HotrodEvil Idiot

  • 50yrs since the music died, r.i.p

  • I had the privilege of being at the crash site with about 15 other individuals, 50 years to the minute that their lives were taken...a truly emotional thing. The next day I went back and was talking to someone about where the bodies lay and after we pointed out the Big Bopper and Buddy, we realized we were standing where Ritchie was laying 50 years ago to the minute that we were there..... We both moved to the side..... Just didnt feel right to stand there.

  • R.I.P To Three Legends!

  • hey is this the real broadcast from 1959?

if so, this is really cool!

  • 50 years ago today 2/3/09

  • R.I.P buddy, ritchie and bopper... we miss you.

  • R.I.P RITCHIE VALENS, BUDDY HOLLY. AND J.P. THE BIG BOPPER.... Your Still Being Remember. Can't Forget You Guys. Just Simply The Best.... KEEP ON ROCKING UP THERE IN HEAVEN.... MUCH LOVE 4fm Puppet...

    You'll Never BE FORGOTTEN

  • This is the original radio broadcast of the news flash. This news cast was used in the movie LaBamba but was re recorded by famous radio DJ Rick Dees. It was also slowed down in the movie and it appears to be edited slightly. its not clear if it was edited because in the scene where it is played, Ritchie's brother Bob is working on a car listening to the radio. The news bulletin inturrepts the music, and when Bob hears Ritchie's name announced he runs to his mother's house.

  • Febuary 2nd, not 3rd. But thanks for putting this up. :')

  • Actually it was 1am-ish on Feb 3rd.

  • Feb. 3rd, not 2nd

  • I'm guessing that this isn't an original recording from 1959. Most likely, it was created for the movie.

  • oh well, i'm not sure...

  • it's one of the original news flashes from 1959. This particular one was broadcasted on KGLO (Mason City, Iowa)

  • @ pinkyblackish. reply on your post from 4 month ago.

  • oh wow, thank you very much

  • hey all, the new youtube seems to have messed my video a bit, the end doesn't have sound now, but it used to :/

    still, enjoy the video

  • Same one used in the movie, and Ritchie's mom didn't know until she heard this same news flash.

  • "Say, has anyone notified the families yet?"

"No? Well, gosh, I guess that'll come as a pretty hard blow to 'em. Maybe we should stop announcing deaths so quickly like that, whaddya think?"

  • haha, i agree

  • Do you know what radio station did this broadcast?

  • unfortunately, no i don't

    :(

really, this audio i found the audio so randomly, there was no info on it just that it was about "the day the music died".

    sorry
