Oil in Haiti Economic Reasons for the UN/US Occupation
There is evidence that the United States found oil in Haiti decades ago and due to the geopolitical circumstances and big business interests of that era made the decision to keep Haitian oil in reserve for when Middle Eastern oil had dried up.

The thought of asking a former colonial power like France to regain control, who exploited and left Haiti deeply scarred, is just revolting. In the mid-19th century traitors tried to re-annex the DR to Spain, and the young country had to fight back to regain its independence. If the international wealthy friends of Haiti are serious about helping, they should stop the handouts and help Haitians learn self-reliance and to compromise among themselves, not dumping Haiti's troubles on its neighbor.

And WHY exactly the D.R. HAS TO TAKE CARE OF THE HAITIAN MESS? Did Dominicans cause it in the first place? Despite being more developed, we in the DR have our own BIG problems to take care of. The DR has to be afraid of all those problems spilling over here. Isn't TWO MILLION illegal Haitians in the DR enough? It's not hate, it's self-preservation. And you suggest FRANCE should annex Haiti back? You think they would even consider it? Yhat thought reflects self-defeat, not what Haiti needs.
