  • I didn't notice it affecting gas mileage at all.

    I don't have a chip in it.

    I have an h pipe.

  • Does it affect the gas mileage any?

  • gov chip in it?

  • do you have an x or h pipe?

  • i have a 98 5.4 with tips and it already sounds pretty mean but i was thinking about getting flowmasters or straight pipe or something, any advice on what sounds meaner?

  • What are you running now to the tips? What kind of aftermarket mufflers do you have?

  • straight but it may get annoying on hiways...in that case get a magnaflow muffler...just cleans up the sound a bit, removes the crackle but keeps the rumble

  • don'ty straight pipe it. i did it on my 99 5.4 and my fuel milage went to shit. and it gets quite annoying in the cab. i have to yell to have a conversation on the highway. get a thrush welded series. sound mean. hope i can help.

  • @suepsetts Flowmaster 40 series....or dynomax....

  • Did you notice an increase in fuel mileage or power or were you going for sound only?

I am trying to get max pulling power out of my 06.

    Thanks,

    Dave

  • No I didn't notice any increase in fuel mileage or power. I was mainly going for sound. I've heard that Maganflow will give you an increase in hp and fuel mileage but it won't be loud.

  • Nice sound on a good truck. I had dual flowmasters on my 02 f150 and just recently had new exhaust put on. I went with a different muffler this time and it is Loud!

  • will this void your warrnty?

  • No it won't void your warranty.

  • sounds nice. you should check mine out and tell me what ya think. same thing except mine is an 08

  • Thanks Darren!! I'll definitely look into some aftermarket cats.

  • your from florida aint you. i see the florida tag what county you from?

  • Hillsborough?

  • Thanks for the comments. I don't currently have an X or an H-pipe but I have thought about getting one. I also only have the 4 stock cats too and I've thought about getting aftermarket ones too but I haven't done it yet.

  • Thats cool. You should definitely get some hi-flow cats on that thing. Fords cats kill off so much sound. Actually, you should not have 4 cats, you should have two huge 16" cats, 1 per bank. Not the 4 cat system which was discontinued in early 2005.

  • sounds good man, if your not runnin a exualizer itd be a good idea to get a x pipe, and chop those factory cats off and get maggie hi flows! check out the vid of my true dual flowmasters (4.6) with hi flows

  • sounds good. Any X or H pipe? IF not well that would be a good idea to equalize the exhaust tone & pressure for better low end.

  • Thanks for the comment. No I didn't remove any cats. We removed all the factory piping behind the cats and ran piping down both sides of the truck into 2 Flowmaster mufflers and then to the tips out the back. True duals means that it has 2 cats from the headers instead of 1 cat.

  • sounds nice what do you mean by true duals though? Did you lose your cats and go from there?
