To anyone planning or even thinkig of moving here i have this to say, the people here make me sick. A lowlife peice of shit just outside the town killed a nun for her car. Half a body was found two blocks from my house and there is so many dwi's its sad. living here will make you hate the people around you. Oh yeah then theres the shit that happens at night....

crap hole decsribes this town perfectly, I used to live there, I was back in town visiting the folks, many years ago(all of us now have escaped) and voila, 20/20 does an expose while I'm there. Gallup, Drunk Town, more bars per capita than even Las Vegas.
Yeah, Gallup is relatively un-interesting. I live in Santa Fe, and if you want a change from the rest of the country, come visit, but I do highly recommend against moving here.

WAs this town funded by the enterprising of the Indians or just by shopping? I wonder...this type of town should be on the surrounding reservations, since it is monies by Indians that provide its economy and commerce. Just something for the local Natives to ponder.
Used to be called the drunk driving capital of the world. There was even a bilboard stating such as you came into town from Grants(crap hole)at one time back in the early 90's.

In 2003,I was driving on R66.(It was October,maybe.)
On that day, I had to get Alburqurque and had to visit some stateparks there. So I had to start very early in the morning:-)
