How rich this theme is - horns, flute, violins, drumkit - even electric guitar and a lot of musical change without ever sounding overloaded or like it's getting lost.
They're making a prequel to Grandia 1 called Grandia online which is an mmo in japan. The game starts off with your character and liete escaping the icarian world as it's being destroyed if i remember right.
There are few games out there that deserve remakes, some shouldn't need them but with Grandia I would love to play this again, this is one of THOSE games that make you cry when you play it (I was 7 i think godamn sue theme)
At the moment Grandia was just released on Japanese playstation store, i seriously hope it comes to the US and UK stores so i can play this on my psp XD
I actually wrote up a Top Ten Games of All Time list, and placed this game at #1. There's just so many reasons why you should do this.
Amazing storyline, one of the best scores to ever be composed for a videogame, truly unique battle/leveling up system, but most importantly of all, it's truly INSPIRING.
As a child, I wanted to live this game. This game represents what life should be like. Screw the boundaries. If you want to explore something, go do it.
grandia is not only old school... it is a perfect master work.... witch can be a religion for all RPG games... it seems... the old game take part of feelings... as music and story.... and not glory grafic.... (my think)
I love Grandia because it's an adventure we as people cannot ever take, due to the state the world is now. There's nothing really new to discover, and legal rights bound us to our country until we become adults. It feels so real, the game draws you in and lets you experience what an adventure should be. Grandia is an adventure, and that's why it's my number one favourite game of all time.
As much as I love FF7 Aeriths death seems abit stale too me now with all the spin offs and such. Grandia to this day like 10 years on still gets some emotion out of me when i play it XD
yea basically thats what Im saying. Maybe I misspoke there. In the end I liked Grandia over FF7, The only thing in my mind thats keeping it in grandia's league is Aeriths death. Cause after that I got kinda bored with FF7 myself.
agree with all of you. one of the best rpgs ever(except ff 7). but the music in grandia is godlike...wonderful, so you only have to hear a song of the game to imagine the scene which ya played(sry for my horrible english)^^
Man I love this game. Hell, I still even have the game. Its right next to me at this very moment. I need to do a walkthrough on this game. Let this game be remembered for a long time :).
This was the only game that made me escape from reality unlike the games today. Today, its just all feel the same. I still play it time to time but I usually lose my memory cards >.>
Maybe. Though I think most people remember the effects that individual scenes had on them. I forgot one of the major scenes as I played this when I was very young, and when I rediscovered it was quite overwhelming.
I just told ya; Noriyuki Iwadare made this song who's a composer in Brawl PLUS The Grandia team helped make Brawl PLUS Solid Snake music from PS2 made it PLUS Nintendo had some really out-there cameos with pieces like Tunnel X and Marionation Gear.
okay umm metal gear was originally started on nes and there was a metal gear folid for gamecube and sonic has been on nintnedo since the gambecube came out so they have an excuse to be on the game grandia characters where never on a nintendo product so you kind of proved yourself wrong any musical piece has to have a tie with nintendo in its history or any of the selectable characters.
This is one of the few PS1 games where I think the PAL Box is actually the nicest - the best Box for Grandia though, imo is the Reprint for saturn with the "Just and feena with map" picture.
Two reasons why this game was great. 1.) It was up against final fantasy 7, and was always in it's shadow, and everyone loves the underdog. 2.) Ubisoft have an annoying habit of realising great games along with a whole host of rubbish games. This is a prime example, another one is Beyond Good and Evil. By realising only a few good games you make those games imortal.
There's somthing very strange avout Grandia. This strange sence of utter wonder you get from playing it. Your always looking ahead to the next horizon. Be it the sea, End of thr world wall or even the stars.
best ever rpg, still got the game at home and started to play it again on ps1. if only they had bought number 2, 3 and 4 out on ps1, or xbox. great game and would definatly recommend it to ne1 who likes rpg. i think every1 would agree. love the music, the characters. especallialy the bad guys, including gaia.
I nearly cried when i first finished it. Really, probably the best RPG ever created: incredible music, LIVING characters, original plot. Everything about this game is outstanding perfection; i only wish every game could take this one as an example to look on.
the best game in the world and nuthin will be as gud as it! it was the first and best rpg i ever played why cant they make them like this any more:( also fantastic music thanks :)
one of best storyline, cliche yet epic classic

Every once in a while I go back and play Grandia again. Because every once in a while the world can bring me down.
Sometimes I need something to remind me that you'll never find adventure unless you bring some with you.
Sometimes I need something to remind me the strongest people are those who can forgive.
Most of all, I need something to remind me the world can be a beautiful place if you open yourself up to it.
Thank god for Grandia. My children will play this game just like I did.

Im sorry this is better then ff7 and I played both. FF7 without Aerith's death does not compare to this
armst012 3 years ago 3
a lot better than ff7
AltairReloaded 3 years ago 5
Is That The Only Thing FF7 Has Over This Game? Aeris' Death?
I Didn't Even FINISH Grandia And I Think I'd Pick THAT Up Before FF7.
Not To Be Rude Or Brash Or Anything. Just Making A Point Because, Yes, While 7 Is Good, Grandia Is, Indeed, Better.

I'm really sad this song did not make it to Brawl when Noriyuki Iwadare was one of the music composers... this was one of his best works...
It could have been alternate stage music for "Pirate Ship"
