@PrepperAZ impact drivers drive screws using a impact action on the inside of the drill to drive the screw with out applying constant pressure. you would use a impact driver to drive screws into wood to build a deck for example. a hammer drill is like a mini jack hammer than also spins and is used to bore holes in concrete and masonry.
I want to buy an impact driver, namely an 18v Ryobi or some type of Hitachi. I am unsure whether to buy one as I'm not sure would it suit my work. I am a plumber and I would be using it to fit wash hand basins, toilet bowls and cisterns. It would be very useful for this type of work because of its small size but I am worried about its torque/power. Would this damage any of the ceramic products I would be using it on.
@KevGSen If youre driving screws into studs and wooden noggins (To take a basin etc) and you dont want to pilot, then impact driver - if youre driving screws and bolts into things like basins etc, use a drill driver, an impact driver will cause too much daamge
Nice, i just got one because of this video. Your advice helped me a lot, thanks.

I love hitachi. I use mines all the time either I'm doing metal framing or drilling through concrete.

Whats the difference between a impact vs. hammer drill? Application uses?
