Tegras run into things the size of smartphones guys, or smartphones. 35 fps is crystal clear on most screens with good refresh. Doubt you could see the difference from 60fps, because I sure can't.

@qcenaman you are not seeing the frame rate difference, you are probably seeing the framerate clashing with your monitors refresh, visually there is very very little difference above 30frames for most things. Action and fast moving things are where most of the difference is seen. I do however agree and wont play games without the frame rate being an average of my monitors refresh cause tearing annoys the shit out of me.

The Tegra is awesome though, maybe some handheld console devs will use it in next-gen systems. The Pandora can already play Q3 at a higher resolution, but it uses a beagleboard, which is much bigger.

480x272 is not HD. HD is 1200*720p or 1900*1080p
However, the fact that the Zune can upscale to 720p and so output with a cable to your HDTV does not mean that it plays on the device with this ress. The ress on the device is a fixed ress, 272i or 482*272.
iPhone and iPod touch can upscale any output to even greather ress (1080p).
Quake runs more than 60 fps on the 3GS, with tegra ( old ARM6 cpu ) it runs only on the 30-35 fps. Again, Tegra is not a mobile Geforce. iPhone 3GS still better.Cheers

First off, Tegra is not a Geforce, is not even a nVidia Go thing, it was a company develloping mobile chips until nVIDIA bought them.
Two, 480*272 is not HD, were the fuck is the 1080p? HD is for Hybrid Digital, is about the radio beign analog and digital.
Third, the same quake runs about 60fps on the iphone 3GS. People thinks they will get an Xbox360 portable device, this is not even comparable with an ipod touch 3G.
The specs of the PSP has hardly changed over the years. yes they did add 32mb more ram starting on the 2000 and up, and the go still has the same specs as the 2000, but added internal storage an bluetooth and removed the UMD drive but the hardware hardly changed.
The DSi did have a massive change in specs over the DS and DS lite vs how the PSP hardware changed very little.

Huh? Maybe i misread your post, but the Zune HD is confirmed. Various review sites (engadget, gizmondo, Cnet) have videos of them playing with it. Its has its own official microsoft website now. I realy doubt its fake at this point ;-)
Since the Zune HD is confirmed to be able to play back 720p video, the Tegra chip seems the most likely, as current ARM chips that dominate the mobile market today are not capable of rendering HD video. In addition, Microsoft has been one of the biggest preferred partners for Nvidia's Tegra platform
It probably can perform Physics on GPU because it uses a similar design or same as the ION.
Ubuntu for ARM processors has also just been released. This year is going to be really interesting we could see a move away from x86 CPU's in nettops and netbooks and a growth in linux in small devices with ARM CPU's.

Even my xperia x1 can handle quake 3 arena on 800x480..
( ok it has 5-15 fps) but hey the phone was already out in 2008... and it even has crippled 3d drivers.. so 35 fps aint that good for a device that is pretty much made for it..

I'm completely unimpressed by the use of AA/AF.
This is Quake 3, 35fps isn't enough and we don't care about AA/AF, or anything other than getting 60+ fps!
Good though, mobile devices are finally going to work.

this can go up to 35FPS!! thats good.... i wonder what other news MS is gonna come out with on the zune HD, i heard that it could strream videos from the player.

The iPod version is blocky and horrible. and this is running at 800 x 480 with AA/AF enabled. get a clue, fanboy.

well you could definately assume that they would add this game considering its here working off of the tegra chip, well their is plenty more news for the zune HD coming out this summer since MS didnt just anounce it all together. but as of now its lookin pretty mighty fine.

the ZuneHD is not part gaming device until Microsoft says so. as many of us Zune owners know we can play games on our zunes thanks to XNA. we can assume that we will be able to play more advanced XNA games on the ZuneHD assuming that it can play games from the get go.ok so being able to play xna games on a zunehd should be possible and should be part of the zunehd. what we really want is being able to play actual real games from real devs like this here quake 3 or some type of portaible halo.

microsoft have been hush over the zune HDs gaming capabilities since the announcement of the zune HD. but for some reason, i dont think the zune is competing with just the ipod touch anymore.

Not true, you can see a framerate counter up to the top right, it keeps on counting down from 40 to 35 and then the video ends.

Not the zune HD, it in one of the vids the guy says there is a zune in devoplment,But he does not say zune hd,just Zune,ill believe it when i see one,how many timesin the past have we seen some devopler say something liek this for it to turn into vaporware ,but i do hope this is not the case ,zune,apple etc i like the idea of have some real portable cs,quake 3

Huh? Maybe i misread your post, but the Zune HD is confirmed. Various review sites (engadget, gizmondo, Cnet) have videos of them playing with it. Its has its own official microsoft website now. I realy doubt its fake at this point ;-)

Since the Zune HD is confirmed to be able to play back 720p video, the Tegra chip seems the most likely, as current ARM chips that dominate the mobile market today are not capable of rendering HD video. In addition, Microsoft has been one of the biggest preferred partners for Nvidia's Tegra platform

Yeah i knew that..If they did use Tegra i think that would be reason enough for me to buy it, having seen the demos for this chip.
BTW the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset can also play HD video.

It probably can perform Physics on GPU because it uses a similar design or same as the ION.
Ubuntu for ARM processors has also just been released. This year is going to be really interesting we could see a move away from x86 CPU's in nettops and netbooks and a growth in linux in small devices with ARM CPU's.
Also the death of the Sony PSP and Nintendo DS as they are replaced by gaming phones??
Computex is this weekend and the new ARM/Tegra/ION netbooks will be displayed :)
