I never like this white boy's physique. Yeah sure he's over 300 pounds on stage, but all his mass is spread out over the 6'2" the bone frame of a Cow. The only good things about his structure are his wide clavicles and huge ribcage, Ill give him that, but that also come along with his big wide pelvis and huge joints. Bone structure of an ugly strongman but with bodybuilder muscles. Ronnie Coleman was way better, almost as much weight, but compact on a smaller aesthetic bone structure.
Gunter went through an ugly divorce in 2003 and also got a staph infection. He lost a lot of size and was never quite able to get all the size back he had here. By 2005 he did bring back the conditioning, but I think he was not quite as big then as he was here in 2002.

now that is such an awesome line up ....Gunter Schlierkamp, Lee Priest, Kevin Levrone and Dexter Jackson...Some of my favourites..not a massive Coleman fan but theres still Markus Ruhl and Flex Wheeler in there (placed 7th and 8th)

People were upset about Gunter losing because he built the biggest body. Obviously people are going to be upset when they see the biggest (and probably nicest) guy on stage lose. He was a bit less conditioned than the other guys though and he has a wide waist, but like the announcers kept saying, they could have shuffled the cards with this top 6.

Gunter was in amazing shape and the fans felt he should have placed higher. Blacks are such sore losers/winners. And why make this a racial issue? Bodybuilding is probably the least racial sport. Blacks can't win all the time. Grow up.

kevin definitely had it that year...gunter wasn't as good in the prejudging as in the night show...and the one who wins the prejudging wins the competition! ;))
