According to Rolling Stone magazine, that's pre-fame Eddie and Alex Van Halen on the "Love Gun" demo. Anyone know if this is true? I couldn't tell from listening to it.
@Newdge On most demo compilations its clearly written, that Paul plays all instruments there. We cant be sure for 100% what really had happened, but I have never imagined Eddie demo without a solo ...
The album work itself was worth buying the record...my god these guys were untouchable in the late 70's, every 10-12 year old back then was either a fan or a disciple...=)
This also shows how talented Ace Frehley is ...if you listen to the final version, you can hear how he added the monster solo to the foundation of the song Stan Eisen wrote here.
It is impressive that Paul plays everything on here, but the backgrounds vocals don't sound anything like him & the fact that he didn't even attempt to put in a solo in there is odd. Obviously Ace would have put something of his own in there, but to have NOTHING in its place is just wierd
I know Steve Korff. He played in a band called Planets that used to play shows with Kiss in the early 70's. He played drums on this demo. We were talking about this not too long ago.
nice drumming Paul, you are the best! acutally Paul Stanley is one of the very few guys who play ALL instruments on one song, wich is AWESOME, we love you Paul!
They really cooked around this time and earlier. Boy they sure put out some crap since. Mind you there is the odd golden nugget here and there surrounded by a heap of gravel and dirt.
Does anyone old enough remember the paper guns that were included with this album? I bought the album when it came out in '77 and I wish I still had it!
fun you write about that - i was thinking a few days ago, what happen to all the things you got with kiss albums back then - the paper gun from the love gun record - a paper copy of a platinum record from double platinum album - posters from the dynasty and unmasked albums, just to mention a few things..so yes i remember those things to (c:
Haha, yea, the posters and paper guns.......well, no one can say that Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley were not masters of marketing.
I still have my Kiss Tour 1978 program from my first Kiss concert. It's a little beat up but it's one of my most cherished treasures. I saw them again in '79 and '80 but never went to another one of their concerts after that.
JR Smalling, the "You Wanted the Best, You Got the Best" guy on Alive 1 & 2 is the drummer on this demo, as well as the drummer on the God of Thunder demo.
this started back in 75 or 76?ace and peter wouldnt show up for recording, and paul and gene did what they had to do..if im right on the time frame...then bieng young and starting to get famous i guess they had people telling them you dont need them your just as good on your own!if 'all' of them would have not listened to their egos they would still be recording today..
You were very colse on when Peter didn't show up for recordings, he stoped showing up around 78 to 80 when they asked him to leave the band, although some people believe eter that he left on his own.
I looked this up just to see if the Van isHalens were on this, and I can tell you 2 things...
1. that is not Alex Van Halen on drums 2. Kiss sucks!!!

Nice demo, and further proof, if any were needed, that without Ace Frehleys lead guitar, KISS would never have amounted to anything.

@zuss10r : lmfao. the songs made kiss huge, not guitar solos. ace's solos were just extra icing on the cake

He played the drums, too?

Yeach, he played all instruments, and after mixed it into one song. Also chorals, are his mixed voice.
And yes he also played drums, so the drum track isnt much fast and hard, as could play this Peter
