These vocals are so forced its not even funny. The beauty of this song (when done by Journey) is largely due to the simplicity of the vocals. Reverberating every single note destroys that.
It is certainly live because apart from the fact its obvious you can tell from the notes at the beginning - this is the reference she used to get the right key while singing this song live and they don't appear in the studio version.
