I read somewhere that the song existed well before Bob-Bon and that it was actually a post WW II song refering to the a-bombs droped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Te no hira wo taiyou ni reffers to putting your hands in front of the face to protect from the flash of the nuclear detonation (bright as the sun (taiyou))

They're Uchikomas. Many fansub groups added the wrong name in their subs. But it doesn't have much impact since it's only said once in 2nd gig.

No it's not pathetic, I think the moment was amazing, the only people that could hear the Tachikomas were those in Section 9.. Just think about what they were feeling when they heard and saw that. I liked the Tachikomas a lot throughout the show, they made me laugh a lot..

the thing is that this is a children's song so it was originally very happy. The fact that they're singing it when theyre about to 'die' is what makes it so sad. Its like a political prisoner singing the national anthem when facing a firing squad.

Their sacrifice is only meaningful because they're ghosts are gone.
