  • somebody please call jamiroquai and tell him he's got a new bassist!

  • @TheBassking14 Jamiroquai is a band, not a "him."

  • @PartyMcFlyMusic yeah i know thats why i seid 'new' bassist...he's the leader so he makes the decisions...read through before you write

  • @TheBassking14 You definitely misunderstood again.

The lead singer and band leader, known as Jason Cheetham or Jay Kay, does not go by the name Jamiroquai. Jamiroquai is the name of a large act that Jay Kay fronts, and that Stu Zender and some other very talented bassists have played with. Your use of "him" and "he's" were incorrect, as is (to a lesser extent) the idea that you could "call" jamiroquai, as Jamiroquai is not a person, but infact a group.

  • @PartyMcFlyMusic im 11 aand in set 3 english...so does it really matter how i put things!just because i write a few things wrong you just had to take advantage didnt you...asshole

  • @TheBassking14 Hey man, I meant no offense. Just dropping some knowledge on you, as "Jamiroquai" referring to a person as opposed to a group is one of the biggest misconceptions people have about this band. No need to start name calling; I didn't mean to upset you. Have a good day man, and keep listening to Jamiroquai!

  • @PartyMcFlyMusic ohh...okay thank you :) you too

  • Good groove man!!!! Super job!!!!

  • Super clean, Dude.

    Great job!

  • You don't need to apologise for anything man! I absolutely loved it, keep up the good work!

  • That fill in the beginning was spine tingling!

  • Fabulous job. Very few people complete this with precision AND groove. And the work you put into the signal chain really shows - great sound! Love that slide up to the ending flourish at the end of the 1st chorus.

I like a little more clarity in the upper-mids, but just my taste in the sound. Performance: A+ :)

  • hey, i have a question.

how is your amp and bass tuned ? , i mean how is you mid, low, high treble and so on ? thanks :)

  • Nice improvising

  • what kind of strings are you using?

  • @bassdudeindy That's a good question. I don't really recall, as this video was from a few years ago. My guess is DR Sun Beams.

  • What kind of strings are you using?

  • Wow, that is funkay

  • so much groove!

  • Amazing!!!!!!!

Good inspiration, Now let's play =P

    But, very good man!!!!!!!

  • Amazing. o.o

  • Oh came on Paul ! ... show your face, all we know who you are! LOL !

  • plz be tabs?!

  • OH THOSE POPS BETWEEN INTERVALS ARE AMAZING!!! :D

  • i love playing this song on bass its so fun!! you can just totally improvise all the time soooo fun!

  • Very good and perfectly clean. A job well done mate. : )

What I like particularly is how clean and well the lil' slap sounds. That's some real expertise right there.

I'm taking tips and tabs from this video, if you don't mind. :)

  • Great lick, and great setup! Thanks for including the description.

  • yeahh man good work.

    check my videos?

  • I have been playing for 2 1/2 years and i am no where close to being that good...great cover

  • very nice man, thumbs up!

  • Yeah, so f...ing great!!!

  • Grande!!!Bello stile....

  • Wow. I just started to play bass about a month ago and I thought I was starting to get good but then I saw this. I'm still going to keep with it though. You can be my role model.

  • @micalishis Thanks! Keep with it!

  • Bravissimo!

  • amazing, awesome

  • i hope some day i to be able to play this song like you bro good job.

  • Perfect dude, Honestly that was passionate playing right there.

I love how you added in lines of your own.

    Brilliant.

  • @WhySoBass Thanks a lot!

  • WOW!!

  • were u played it with 3 fingers? i coundnt saw it clearly

  • @JakeZhong0622 Three fingers with my picking hand? I might be using my ring finger sometimes, but usually not.

  • perfecto bass play'n! ;o)

  • pretty good, but don't be afraid to cut frills off. the bass is basically the root of the whole thing, sometimes is good to take some freedom here and there, but don't overload it with curls and baroquisms, or you'll get lost in them. nice done anyway.

  • So much win.

  • MIERDAAAAA CHE!!! El mejor cover de esta cancion que vi en todo youtube, que bien que suena ese bajo, por dios! saludos y ÉXITOS loco :)

  • PERFECT

  • Wao I tip my hat. Compared to my skills in bass Im a 100 times inferior!

  • way to groove man!!!!

  • Awesome!

  • Damn, pretty impressing, how long did you say you have been playing?

  • @BassNewbieNorway Thanks! More than 9 years now playing bass (although this video was from a year and a half ago).

  • Do you recommend the 5 string J bass? I've been saving up for the $700 MIM one in GuitarCenter

  • Really clean good job man!!!

  • DUDE you TOOK OFF on that song!!! that was a dope ass cover!!!

  • Man, that's awesome!

  • great job!

  • good job dude!

  • YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What do you think of the association: Markbass head + Ampeg cab(s) ?

Ampeg tone only with cabs ?

Your opinion interest me because I intend to do the same amps set, I like the Ampeg tone but the heads are very dear.....

Markbass heads seem well and good value for money.

  • @MuscleCharger Since then I've owned both a markbass 4x10 and an aguilar 1x12. The ampeg's tweeter wasn't to my liking-- the markbass cab and the aguilar sound much warmer by comparison. All in all, I'd say the ampeg tone comes from the head more than the cab, in my opinion. the little mark head sounds more clean (like a DI) than classic ampeg tone. That being said, I'm very happy with how the markbass head sounds with the aguilar cab.

  • @HatTrax : Ok , Thanks !

  • be careful with the middle finger, rest of is pretty good

  • quite a talent and practice it requires to do what you did, friend.. keep up the good work.. thanks for sharing..

  • NICE ONE

  • CARALHO!!!!!

  • i love how you play it, really enjoyed watching this

  • Each passing day i'm more convinced i should play bass instead of guitar. And this kind of music of course. It would be boring as fuck if playing punk or some shit like that.

  • man it's incredible, nice job... some many wrong notes buts sounds good

  • nice, sansamp bass driver DI is a great piece of kit!

  • You got it!

  • Finger at 0:41 :)

  • Hawt.

  • Nice cover!

I have a question though, how did you go about splitting the signal path (was it the XLR on the sansamp aswell as the input and output on it?) and what difference does this make to the overall sound??

    Thanks!

  • @JacoBrownolymetal666 So this was a while ago, but I think what I did was used the 1/4" through jack in addition to the 1/4" output jack of the sans amp BDDI. Like most pedals, you can disable the processing that the pedal adds, so both the through and the output jacks would have had the same signal flowing out of them. It's a useful trick.

  • Your description just dazzled me.

Do I really need all that to get a good bass sound? :\

  • @iPodGaming I agree. I think the biggest thing was that I wasn't ever really satisfied with the innate sound that bass has, thus I had to do a lot to mask it. Just sounds too 'new' and not 'warm' in my opinion. Since then I've managed to try out a few basses, and ended up picking up a Squier vintage modified Jbass. I threw in new pickups and a new bridge, along with a preamp. I just run it through an avalon di into pro tools, through ampeg svx amp sim and add some compression. Sounds perfect!

  • @HatTrax

    Haha, good luck then.

IMO, it didn't sound "warm" enough the way you wanted it because it was bram new (I'm assuming)

but I'm glad you finally got your sound. I'm just using an old Yamaha without an amp xD

  • Excellent... The description is a little confusing, did you really need that amount of compression? :S... BTW, you have an excellent technic buddy, very nice playin'.

  • sweet

  • The only thing I don't like about this video is it shows that knowledge of equipment and being able to afford the equipment is more important than talent.

  • @poomanonfire I think that more than anything it shows that dedication is the key. I've playing for more than 8 years now. Gear definitely doesn't make the difference. In my opinion, the more complicated the gear gets, the worse its going to sound. I've since dumped much of that gear and just focused on having a good DI and good bass amp.

  • @HatTrax Yeah that's kind of what I ment. I can play this song but it will only sound as good as my amp and bass will let me.

  • @poomanonfire I see what you mean. I'm finding that for funk my cheap squier vintage modified jazz bass sounds a lot better than my fender american jazz deluxe V, so there certainly are gems amongst cheaper gear. I could record another version with the squier if you're interested.

  • @HatTrax No thanks I'll take your word for it. Nice video by the way made me want to get a better bass and a DI.

  • looving this man, you're good

  • hi nice sound..i have a cs-3 but dunno how to use it. LOL. what does it do for the sound?

  • Excellent!

I'm trying to get Paul's tone on this song. What kind of strings do you have here and how did you have your GEB 7 set up? Can you send me a shot of the EQ?

    Thanks!
