@oBLACKIECHANoo Would you like to know the charities I've donated to? Or the money I've given to the homeless? @Entsetzen1984 Charity? Well, I already know that you do not understand charities. Given money to the homeless? LMAO, that's even worse, that only shows how retarded you are. You gave a whole month's pay to a charity (which you do not even understand) which says they are giving it all to japan, even though you're poor. Tat doesn't make you a good person, it's more proof that you're a fucking idiot. And you think that makes the world better? Or even has anything to do with this video? HAHA!! Cunt
@oBLACKIECHANoo How do yo know that I don't understand charities? See? you're judgeing again. Giving money to the homeless? Fuck yeah I do, and I hope they buy some good booze and drugs with that money I give them so they can make their shitty lives less shity. As for the charities I give to, I give to trusted, established charities such as Red Cross, I'm happy that I paid for some medical aid that maybe saved a life. So yeah I think that makes the world a little better.
@Entsetzen1984 Red Cross? Trustworthy? You actually used those two words in the same sentence and believe that you're right? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. And even if they were, that doesn't make the world any better you think somebody getting some medical treatment make the world any better? No. That's not even the point of this fucking video.
@oBLACKIECHANoo Dude, don't dig yourself into a deeper hole then you already have, alright then, how about you TELL ME what the point of this video is. I assumed it was about Idealists, you know considering that THE TITLE OF THE VIDEO SAYS IT IS.
@Entsetzen1984 Yes, idealists, people who believe they have the power to change the world through meaningless, idiotic crap. You're just pretending you're a good person for giving money to people in Japan who didn't even need it.

Just because we advance technology wise and make new discoveries, doesn't mean we're going to mature. All the new discoveries are meaningless if we can't grow the fuck up, and ACTUALLY do something for the better, which we're not. Humans are too diverse and stubborn to come to an agreement which will help change things. However, that's what I believe the only thing we can do, is...
Not everyone who want's a radically better world will do it idealistically, some of us will do something in the real world about the injustices in the world.
@bloodshedder021 He speaking with passion not rage. @bloodshedder021 You are completely forgetting the 13 colonies. There were hundreds of thousands of slaves that were torn apart from their families in Africa and shipped to the colonies, just for some extra money.
@bloodshedder021 but there was places where there wasn't slavery he is saying it has all happened before we just brought it back Did the Indians have slaves? I don't think so.
Plus before humans evolved agriculture (they were constantly following game) and their was no slavery so no one had slavery a long time ago say 12,000 years ago.
@flamingacdc1 You mean the Native Americans, who were constantly warring amongst themselves, often taken the women of destroyed tribes as rape slaves?
It does not matter whether it's right or wrong for people to change the world, it's simply a fact that some will try. It's not so big a deal whether the changes themselves are right or wrong, they're going to happen anyway. If you see something you don't like then by all means try to do something about it... it's only what everyone else is doing.
@RDeathbringer The problem is that no one is trying to change things they don't like. As long as I can do my 9-5, eat at my local McDonald's and shop at my local Walmart, Tune into Bill O'Riley every week, and go to church...I'm fine...
Idealist - believer in idealism: a believer in a philosophy holding that material objects do not exist independently of the mind.
You know how it's annoying when the word "theory" is aggressively employed by its misleading colloquial usage as if to generate dialectal barriers? Yeah.
There are many valid uses of idealism. There is philosophical idealism, idealism in international relations, ideological idealism, etc. Words have different meanings in different contexts.
@xStrelok This multi-functionality of our words, as if we are in need of frugality in dealing with combinations of symbols, is what allows bigots to go on with BS like "I wasn't using that word as a discriminatory metaphor, it means something else in this context!" to the extent that dictionaries are now catering to their "slang."
I'll never understand why this guy is so idolized and in love with himself when he's so mediocre. I could, however, understand this behavior if he were say 14.
You dumb ass hypocrite!!! You yourself make the world better! Piss off you idiot! And continue to make the world better as you do!... You fucking idiot! Just fuck off, and go make another video we can all enjoy, you stupid dumb ass!!!
@Guitareben HA! Yes you could say that I do, I call it a sense of humor though. I do sense just a bit of endearing hypocrisy about this video... Analyze it all he wants, only an idealist would debunk so many things with his passion!
There is a good thing with idealists though but just one good thing we think alike. Lol jk I'm no idealist I just want global war and famine to strike the earth. isn't that an idealist view? NO.
Idealism are views of an utopia.(distant place or false hopes choose yourself)
Dystopias aren't supported by idealism. I want total anarchy I want death, no internet and such even though I enjoy it just because life in general is boring. 6-12% of suicides are made out of boredom.
Being realist is an excuse to be correct. By believing that humans can't change, you're refusing to change yourself, proving your own point. It's laziness and hopelessness. It's pathetic, disgraceful, degrading, disgusting, and depressing. However, I do agree that the world does go in chaotic cycles that are near impossible to correct :D. But to give up completely and just complain... well, I've already explained my opinion on that.
Yes opinions do not have power, but people do have power to make the world better, by overthrowing bad systems for new once(that fulfill peoples ideas needs at that time) until these systems goes bad again.Now... blindly believing in our own power and making ourselves more powerful than we are ,I disagree with.Think you can change the world in one way or another, but be realistic about it.
I'm glad you're loud. Too often malevolence masquerades as indifference, and it is this perception of indifference that allows politicians in this country to carry on as they have in support of hatred and tyranny the world over. You're their true constituent, and your passion, your malevolent neutrality may awaken others to idealism. Taking the first few steps in the right direction is not an act of futility. Martin Luther King and Gandhi transcended their struggles and inspired the world
@CampCommandant That's what first thing that came to my mind as well, but I said no way someone would mixed those together -plus Arabs had a lot of bigger achievements than conquering Spain- so I settled that maybe I'm unaware of a part of history where Blacks did conquer Spain and Italy.
@CampCommandant The Moors who settled in the Iberian peninsula were composed of several populations, incl Arabs, Berbers, Africans from Mali and Niger so at least some were most certainly Negroid.
This has to be the first video where I've actually disagreed with tj on a few points, seems to me as if he was just telling us to be satisfied with a shitty, fascist world and not try and fix it
Ok so those rights existed back then too... I didn't know that. You wanna know why they went away? The dark ages. The roman empire collapsed and people lost everything; including their morality. It's taken centuries to get that stuff back and we still have a long way to go. And yes, a few thousand people and a petition won't magically make a government change its mind, but it's not about the petition. It's about voicing your disagreement and making yourself heard. When they're pissed: revolution
But to be able to make the best out of the age you live in you have to be an idealist. If everyone decides that it's hopeless and that they have no power to change anything what so ever then nothing would change for the better, and I think you know that too, because otherwise it would be pointless for you to do these videos.
I think people are missing the point of the video. I don't think he's saying that it was 'wrong' for those kids to sign the bill - I think he's just saying that history usually repeats itself.
It's sort of shit to have someone you really admire on youtube to tell you, as a pretty naive 16 year old girl who absolutely believes in change and progression. Nothing would change for anything (for better or worse) if everyone thought this way. And it wasn't MORALLY WRONG for those kids to sign a petition, they did it because they cared. I care, AMAZINGLY, an upper class, white, australian bitch if people in any country are being persecuted because of their sexuality. So fuck you!
AmazingAtheist is a disillusioned idealist and now hypocrite. It was ok for him to think that way, but not you. No, you're a moron if you're in that stage of thought process. LMAO
@LightningBoltz Yah, its counter-productive to be as abrasive as he is, being that he was a kind of idealist at one time. At least have some empathy for who you were several years ago. I agree that trying to rapidly reform the system can lead to instability. Although, I think we do have power to make the world better, at least in our immediate surroundings, because each of us are a part of the world, It may be negligible, but its still there and should be exercised.
@JNathanK2011 We can't be perfect but I agree we can definitely do better. Anybody who says we can't will join the long list of people throughout history who have told people they couldn't only to be proved wrong. Humanity has the potential to be far better than what we are today. And it all starts with you and me. We have to be the change we want to see in the world. We all have to start truly thinking about what we are doing here as individuals and strive to improve daily.
"The blacks conquered Spain and most of Italy" Ok you're fucking stupid. Are you referring to the Turkish Wars/Ottoman Wars? Those weren't blacks. You're understanding of Egypt is also inaccurate.
yes...we should al close our eyes@ the probelms in this world adn beocme fat athiests who make youtube vids rageing at religiuos ppl and alos put bananas in our buts.....u ahve shown me the way
damn dude, this was almost worst than listening to that holy roller on my door step this morning. im an atheist myself, but i don't feel the need to embrace it. Let me Fuck with your mind for a sec, if you Know that this stuff has happened in the ancient times, don't you think there were probably people that thought like you and were angry at the stupidity of others, just so that this would happen once more...you seem like more of a nilist than an atheist, to me, or maybe an existentialist .
I am a bit of an idealist but I dont beleive in ends justify the means or usinig ideas that don't work. I mean having good ideals and tryiing them out if you know what I mean. But whatever.
Big-thinking idealists are usually delusional. The world changes, the world becomes better a little bit at a time.
If you want to change the world, don't start a petition or take up a huge cause. Find a small part of the world that interests you... and make it better. I am going to college to become an engineer. Nothing really world-shaking, right? I know I can't change the world in a big way.
But maybe I can change the world in a small way, and each small little change will add up.
All these comments are shit. It's as if someone came and drained your sense of contextual reasoning. Petitions may work locally i.e. local council. Petitions probably won't work when sent by a bunch of nobodys to an African country that simply doesn't give a fuck about American opinions. If the petition had gone to the government and introduced at faggoty UN meetings then there's some chance something may come from it. So similar to the all loved voting system and yet, no one understands it!
The realist accepts any bad thing that happens and will do whatever it takes to benefit himself without denying that he's doing something amoral. The idealist tries to do whatever he thinks is right and believes in the power of righteousness. Strive for a balance of both if you want the benefits of either.
Also, food for thought, and feel free to debate me here on this one:
Those "over privileged white kids" and their petition got you to make this video, which spreads their message. So I'm not sure that their power is exactly "nothing."
You do have the power to change the world. Most of the most powerful political movements in history, whether for "good" (revolution in India) or for "evil" (Nazism), have been formed under the power/ideals/historical image of a single person. It's all about being pragmatic about how to get there though.
I also mean this as no offense, but I think telling people that they have "no power" to change the world is wildly irresponsible.
He's not talking about people who actually do shit people, he's talking about people sit around and do nothing but think they're opinions and that alone is what changes the world, and that nothing lasts forever.
@lessisbeautiful Not exactly, but many people do dislike videos just for the hell of it. But I'm glad people like you don't dislike for bullshit reasons
'You just have to do the best in your age of living'.
Well, his arguments are painful but true. Of course, you must stand up for your ideals, friends, etcetera (the things you care about), but you must also be aware that you can't always change the world. You have to be aware that you cannot always live up to your ideals. I may have become more realistic, but I still believe in the power of love, hope, courage, friendship, teamwork, determination (willpower) - and lets not forget SELF-RESPECT.
I love you man, but somehow you manage to get up in my grill without being in the same room as me. Chill. And idealism would be possible if we all had similar views on what was ideal.
The "kids" just want to make a "point". Is that not what you are doing? LOL. If they make a video, screaming at the camera like a spoiled fat over fed american know it all, would you find that to be ok? ROFL
Are you jealous that they might get more attention then you with their "methods" ? You are the same. The same.
Failure of the past is no reason to give up on the future. You fall, you get back up, that is your power. The trick is to want to help others back up as well.
A realistic approach is to realize that we can all be a part of something much bigger. A single person, city, nation, cannot make everything better, but our entire race working together might be able to.
Humanity has a dark side, a dark past and a potentially dark future, but some will fight against that until their last breaths
@Rayle75 but if our entire race worked together, which they don't at ALL, we wouldn't even have all these problems in the first place.
and you say that failure in the past is no reason to give up in the future - but who said anything about giving up? that's not at all what TJ was suggesting
also, if someone is holding you down, how are you supposed to get back up?
@smwExpert By the rest of us pushing away the guy who is holding you down. I fully understand that there will always be conflict, that there will always be people who use little differences as an excuse to hate and take advantage . However, and this is just me, i believe that with the advent of new technologies, and new perspectives, and new ways of life, humanity will change and evolve, we just have to try and understand each other, or failing that, just leave each other alone about small stuff
@Rayle75 but that's still contradicting human nature, so i dont think that we'll ever get to the point of fully understanding each other or leaving each other alone about the small stuff
@Rayle75 Well said and I admire your convictions, but the notion that useful things come from collectivism is mostly a fantasy in my opinion. Power comes from the individual and not from the community. 'Argumentum ad populum' is known to be a logical fallacy. It is a demonstrable fact that most people are wrong about most things most of the time, including me. Ironic. I think there may be a subtext here that you missed: Where are the Hippies now? What got done? Fix you, then the world.
Wow, disgusting. Honestly, this made me cringe. How dare you allow yourself to waste your time, as a privileged individual, to yell at people to sit there and allow terrible things they see to continue. These people you are screaming about are the people who are allowing us to march forward and not let our shared human ignorance and sloth ruin peace. Until you experience real excruciating hardships in your life, I really feel as though you have absolutely no say in the importance of idealists.
I always thought that Idealism should be coupled together with Realism. But I do see what he's getting at. "You don't have power". He is correct.
BUT! Only by ourselves, only in tiny groups, are we powerless. If enough people actually demand it, if enough people will settle for nothing less, then there can be no other result than change, be it change for the better, or change, in all likelihood, for the worse. Never under-estimate what a handful of committed people can accomplish.
I suspect that TJ's only problem is with idealists who don't understand practicality and who just want to be loud. I'm sure we all know that there are people who operate idealistically and who also give proper respect to realism, proper behavior, and other perspectives. Idealism and Realism should never be considered opposites. They are absolutely not because there can be realism in ideals and ideals in realism. It is possible to hold on to both in good balance.
No fuck all these people against TAA. Idealists want to change the wold for what THEY think is gonna be better. that's absolute bullshit. Realists realize that not everyone wants what they want.
American kids are being raised as fucking idiots. Being raised in the 00's I heard the "You can change the world" shit all the time. Never once believed it. The sheer amount of Americans that believe it scares me. Peace on Earth? BullSHIT. Whoever has any "World Peace" or "Peace on Earth" bumper stickers on their car, rip it off, it makes you look like a dick.
Except.. the petition actually worked, at least to some extent. Wow.. Just wow. I agree that petitions are far from the best way to 'act', but with some things it CAN and does make a difference.
There's a difference between being an idealist and wanting to change the world.Idealism is just more focused on the individual, moral righteousness as the path to change the world. I.e. charity, petitions, political consumption... Instead of real struggles, class conflicts etc.
I side with dialectical materialism, not idealism or pragmatism.
I'm going to have to disagree. Your examples about the blacks, gays, and womens rights were terrible. I mean back then they weren;t explicitly thinking "Women are equal, they deserve an equal chance" it was just by chance that their society became like that. However now, we are making changes after looking at them and making moral judgments. Now with a strong backing (in logic and morals) I find it MUCH less likley that we will revert or equal rights for gays/women
Overprivileged american non-kids are the ones paying money to those freaks in Uganda. See "The Family". But hey, whatever. Solidarity is apparently lame. Got it.
I love how people who disagree with this just insult him and yet they can't think of a single counter argument. I wonder why that is? Could it be that he is correct?

@xStrelok This multi-functionality of our words, as if we are in need of frugality in dealing with combinations of symbols, is what allows bigots to go on with BS like "I wasn't using that word as a discriminatory metaphor, it means something else in this context!" to the extent that dictionaries are now catering to their "slang."

Where you took your History Lessons? The USA Black Panthers?...Arabs and Carthaginians were NOT Negroid.

Botkilla2K12 2 months ago
But to be able to make the best out of the age you live in you have to be an idealist. If everyone decides that it's hopeless and that they have no power to change anything what so ever then nothing would change for the better, and I think you know that too, because otherwise it would be pointless for you to do these videos.

But maybe I can change the world in a small way, and each small little change will add up.
syn010110 6 months ago

FoxHound109 6 months ago
You do have the power to change the world. Most of the most powerful political movements in history, whether for "good" (revolution in India) or for "evil" (Nazism), have been formed under the power/ideals/historical image of a single person. It's all about being pragmatic about how to get there though.
I also mean this as no offense, but I think telling people that they have "no power" to change the world is wildly irresponsible.
Just my two cents.

Rayle75 7 months ago 56
@Rayle75 but if our entire race worked together, which they don't at ALL, we wouldn't even have all these problems in the first place.
and you say that failure in the past is no reason to give up in the future - but who said anything about giving up? that's not at all what TJ was suggesting
also, if someone is holding you down, how are you supposed to get back up?
smwExpert 4 months ago
@smwExpert By the rest of us pushing away the guy who is holding you down. I fully understand that there will always be conflict, that there will always be people who use little differences as an excuse to hate and take advantage . However, and this is just me, i believe that with the advent of new technologies, and new perspectives, and new ways of life, humanity will change and evolve, we just have to try and understand each other, or failing that, just leave each other alone about small stuff
Rayle75 4 months ago

How dare you allow yourself to waste your time, as a privileged individual, to yell at people to sit there and allow terrible things they see to continue.

Never under-estimate what a handful of committed people can accomplish.
tonystark106422 7 months ago

Ikazu1991 7 months ago
I suspect that TJ's only problem is with idealists who don't understand practicality and who just want to be loud. I'm sure we all know that there are people who operate idealistically and who also give proper respect to realism, proper behavior, and other perspectives. Idealism and Realism should never be considered opposites. They are absolutely not because there can be realism in ideals and ideals in realism. It is possible to hold on to both in good balance.

KammeratGak 8 months ago
I'm going to have to disagree. Your examples about the blacks, gays, and womens rights were terrible. I mean back then they weren;t explicitly thinking "Women are equal, they deserve an equal chance" it was just by chance that their society became like that. However now, we are making changes after looking at them and making moral judgments. Now with a strong backing (in logic and morals) I find it MUCH less likley that we will revert or equal rights for gays/women
