  • Happy to see you got your plane down. I used the same technique with the PVC pipes and it worked.

  • I'm glad you got it back. I lost a plane in a tree on its maiden so didn't loose my gopro but was still hot because I lost all the electronics in the plane so I can imagine how you felt. Unfortunately every time I came back for another attempt to get my plane it looked like somebody else had been trying also. They ended up getting it before I did.

  • @ollanderparker Oh man, that's just not right. Many people recommend putting a phone number or email address or something on your plane. I don't do that either, but maybe I should.

  • Nice! Glad that you got it back!

  • @schraut5 Thanks Nick. Me too, looking forward to doing more HD video now!

  • Great to see you got the most important parts of your FPV plane back after that long wait,

  • wow... lucky. I would have been happy with just the cameras too.

  • @letmeplaymystrat, glad to see you retrieved your plane and most of you equipment. I wish I could help with the video but unfortunately I am having the same problem with my gopro. I crashed it and lost the video of the crash. I used Recuva, a program for windows and was able to get the files back but they will not play. If you have better luck let me know.

  • @purepurebliss I read that you should charge the camera an power it back up and if it detected an incomplete video, it would display SoS on the screen and it would try to finalize the video. That is what happened to mine and I was able to play the video afterwards, but it just didn't recover enough of it.

  • Very nice to get your gear back sir... happy for you!

  • That's awesome!

  • I'm happy to see you have most of you plane back, I would like to see the video when it went in the tree, I hope you get the rest back! good luck. have a great day!

  • @soldier53flyer1 Unfortunately, the video was corrupted and cut off right before the crash. I was looking forward to seeing that as well.

  • Glad to hear you got your cameras back. I recently had a plane fly away on me during a way to early maiden flight on a windy day. Got stuck up in a tree for 4 days then just blew down and got it all back. Im interested in how you and your friends retrieved your plane?

  • @coa106 It was 50' up. I used (5) 10' PVC poles stuck together to try to poke it out. This was not successful and the 50' pvc was difficult to manage. I then taped a large metal hook with a rope to the end of the pole and grabbed the foliage near the plane then yanked the rope and shook the tree top violently until the plane fell. It was difficult and took about 2 hours to get it back.

  • love to see the foot age of it hitting the tree ..

  • @wheelman20012002 Unfortunately I only have video up to the point where the plane was about to go down. Since the gopro was recording when the battery died, the last video was corrupt. I did a recovery but the repaired video stops just before the crash. I was terribly disappointed in that, but happy that I got the camera back.

  • The Gopro is home, I lost a r/c Nitro Plane in a swamp and a year and a half later i got it back. well some of it,

  • @RIPcombat Wow, a year and half! anything still usable? What part of the country to you live in? I'm in Baton Rouge. A lot of swamp around here too.

  • Congrats! Same thing happened to me, except i was luck and did not mount the camera. Already built the new YC 14.

  • Good deal glad to see you got the plane back, that was a couple of bucks sitting in that tree. Always good to hear a story like this!!!

  • @flyby8906 Yep. I think it's worse knowing where it is and not being able to get to it, rather than having lost it all together.

  • @letmeplaymystrat I totally know what you mean! had a crash with a camera on it right here in one of my fields took me hours to find the camera drove me crazy... Walked right to the plane, camera ended up about 10' away very small camera. By the time I found it I was talking to myself anyhow glad you got yours!!

  • Very cool!

  • So will u re build it? Want to make mine. Just want to do all the upgrades etc and have bugs worked out. Glad you got it back.

  • @justfly60482 I have built a second YC14. I actually scaled it up and made it a little larger than the original.
