I love Idelwild gear but love some of the new things aswell. But I loved the more Grungey American indie style of their early work,I know a good band that was simillar called Llama Farmers with a album called Dead Letter Chorus but long forgotten.
Well I'm seeing them this Saturday, 13th March at The Canteen, Barrow-in-Furness. And I hope to god most of the songs they play are from this album because it really was the defining one for me.
One of the first 'singles', I ever bought, good stuff Idlewild... Keep 'em coming and F**k everyone else, would love to hear a version without the cheesy keyboard though.... keyboards are just a little bit wrong, unless you're the Allman Bros
@sinnerbox great tune and im the same was one of my first few singles, however on the keyboards you might not of noticed its potentially a dig at pop cultures ribs, which is the theme anyway... just a wooden idea though :)
I have just finished reading "teach yourself Marx". I spotted something quite interesting that relates to this song Strawberry. Henry Marcuse was a student and philosopher of the Frankfurt school (A school of Marxist thought) and he wrote the book "One dimensional man". He believed that thought becomes one-dimensional as critical thinking and opposition are leached away by consumerist society. The video shows the band living in mindless repetition. Ahhh there's not enough room for letters..
It's Darby Crash reincarnated

This song applies to most young people nowadays.
Following music and trends just fit in with pop culture.

What happened to the bit where Colin was yelling at Bob through the door? Are there 2 versions of this video then?
vitalogy 4 years ago
yeah, I don't know why they removed the talking bit. I do have a copy of the talking one, but it's pretty bad quality.

@katgem There are various satirical references to post-modernism as a philosophical theory and how it is a little silly.
