  • Well i dont know about the foam but i know this painting technique works well.I painted my car 2 years ago like this and people think i had it sprayed professionally.

  • hey vacation time i got a s10 in bad shape, hood and tail gate are badly rusted and there are rust spots on the side. Most of the blue paint is chipped off and you can see gray. As far as the rustoleum PJ goes, should i sand down the paint and rust to the primer. Or to metal then reprime it? (budget is key). It also has some rust holes (bout 2 inch's acrost at most), how could i get rid of them. would i chip/sand the rust, then use Mesh and Bondo then sand and prime it? any details welcomed, tx

  • @rocker4u123 The better the surface before painting the better it will look after paint. I'd sand it to the metal where the rust is and get rid of the rust as best you can. With the rustoleum, you don't really have to prime the paint. It can go right over bare metal.

  • @Vacationtime247 yeah i read that last night on that moparts forum that you don't have to prime. Hey thanks alot.

  • I'm digging the 50 plus sheets of copy paper used to mask the windshield!! Hysterical!!!

  • i doubt you disclose your redneck foam trick to potential buyers...Shity man.....

  • @trex65ghia I also don't disclose that I've pulled the dash out and turned off the check engine light, the ABS light and any other annoying lights that stay on. Shitty, yea, I know.

  • damn...

foam repairs with screws and so :p

and i tought i was a cheap bastard with my cars

    verry cool

  • nice,im about to do the same thing, how many quarts of paint did you use? and how did you mix it?

  • and besids that he is using an aluminum panal that wont rust

  • bad idea with the foam. It will absorb moisture and rust it out again

  • @leevang27 Naw, the foam rollers are the same thing people paint their walls with. It's rustoleum, it'll never rust out.

  • @Vacationtime247 Not the rollers, the great stuff foam you sprayed in will hold moisture.

  • @Vacationtime247 I agree...with leevang27. He was referring to using the foam under the new panels you used for the repair. If any moister gets to the foam you sprayed it will definitely cause problems in the future. Other than that.. Awesome job. I am going to try this method of painting as well..

  • @POPPASHANGO Trucks been sold. Made my money on it and moved on. The foam was just a cheap redneck fix I learned a long time ago. Thought I'd share it. I wasn't about to weld in new panels and try to form them in.
