  • @biriani61 CHORUS We twa hae run about the braes, and pu’d the gowans fine ; But we’ve wander’d mony a weary fit, sin auld lang syne. CHORUS We twa hae paidl’d i' the burn, frae morning sun till dine ; But seas between us braid hae roar’d sin auld lang syne. CHORUS And there’s a hand, my trusty fiere ! and gie's a hand o’ thine ! And we’ll tak a right gude-willy waught, for auld lang syne. CHORUS
  • So beautiful!

  • has just the right interpretation of this song, which is my favorite, and have always been sorry that everyone only sings it once a year, and never anything but the first verse. thanks for this, it pulls us to the simplicity and profundity of this song.

  • Takes me back to my 60's folk club days. Lovely voice; beautiful arrangement.

  • This is great!! I like the a lot better than the hyped up versions that I have always heard. It's like people can't just leave a song alone.

  • I feel like Shortbread..

  • Im Scottish, And this is our song and this is how you sing it. Mariah careys version makes me physically sick.

  • @herclegirl yeah me too she kept saying "should all aquantance" and i almost threw and axe through the computer.

  • This was in the Sex and the City movie!

  • does anyone know where i could find the sheet music to this?

  • @erinkeller2013 I actually have it at school....

  • Lovely version. Beautifully sung with spot-on, precise pronunciation.

This original version of the song is the one which should be sued - the music is totally in line with the sentiments of the words - unlike the commonly used version. The latter has also now been totally debased by moronic drunks at new |year who haven't a clue what they're singing about.

Apparently most Americans think it's a traditional US folk song.

  • You should listen to the version from the Oregon Trail. It is amazing.

  • @TheGaming69 lol that game is so hard I always die of typhoid o_o

  • One of the best versions out there. agree with Lolzess222.If it's not sung in scottish accent with right words in scots and slowly it's crap! as far as I'm concerned

  • Life seems busy, full of crazy things... and you what you need is something peaceful like this to open your mind. You look back, stop for a while on the way living your life then move forward ♥

  • this is a nice version but there is a version on a film, Frank and Jesse, which is performed by Randy Travis that i think is better but i can't find it any where :(

  • If you like this, you may want to know that Mairi Campbell is releasing her debut solo album in May 2011. You can find it at mairicampbell.co.uk :)

  • fine chanting cast,aw the best

  • I much prefer this to the usually sung version. Well done!

  • So good to hear this sung with the correct words to the original tune.

  • Happy New Year everyone :) love this song. <3

  • Thank you for uploading this.

Me and my best friend, over webcam on Skype, (Because she lives in Boston, and I live in Las Vegas) counted down until we pressed play and proceeded to bump our webcams with our normal, casual glasses that you'd put ice water in, mine was filled with grape juice, hers with room temperature water, and we sang this together. (: We truly express the meaning of this song, I feel.

    Thank you so much.

  • Here we are again - Happy 2011.

    xxx

  • thumbs up if u ddnt discover this frm sex & the city... :P :)

  • This meloday is the original melody. It was Burn's publisher that put it to an old Pub Song melody. This one is absolutely beautiful.

  • The best version of Auld Lang Syne I've ever heard. Definitely going to buy the album.

  • yeah, this is the original version of it @krustytheclownhaha :) i think its just cos people know the english verion. btw, love this song! robert burns.. legend!

  • PERFECTION.

  • More than beautiful!

  • But this is not the classical Auld Lang Syne that have been sung all over the world since many years ago. It¨s a very precious song but is not the same.

  • @krustytheclownhaha

Hi Krusty - this is the full version as written by the Scottish national bard Robert Burns, sung to the original tune. It's been called "the world's least known best known song", because most people only know an inaccurate version of the first and last verses, to a later tune. But this is the original, and very nicely sung too...

  • this is sung in scots. It's not english.

Notice she's singing shid ald akweantans be firgot an nivir brocht ti mynd yada yada

  • @krustytheclownhaha

others have commented on this being the original version not the faux pas version sang by many at Hogmanay. auld lang syne was not meant to be an upbeat song it was a lament to times gone bye, a reflection and reminescence of them looked back on with sadness. but we scots love a richt guid willy wacht and a party so today it is sang upbeat to the tune that Guy Lambardo and his Royal Canadian stage band made famaous in North America.

  • @IainB1511 Who really knows what the original intention of the song was, we don't even know who wrote this song of why. The song can be traced back to an anonymous poem written in the 1500s and so it wasn't even intended to be a song. And that's only an original documented copy, it can be older than that. The original melody itself has simply been lost in time, even this melody is probably nowhere near the original version as it was originally intended to be a poem.

  • @IainB1511 So who's to say which version is more truthful? When it comes to folk music, where the song ends up is just as important as how the song started, as folk music is supposed to capture something of the moment. Every New Years Eve people around the world sing this song. I think that in itself makes Auld Lang Syne-the current version-a variation of the folk song in itself. That is to say, it's still serving its purpose as a folk song

  • Lovely performance & song

  • For some reason, this song has touched my heart & soul this holiday season. This version is really heart felt - I think I listened to it 10 times since yesterday, it has really gotten into my spirit!

  • Without a doubt this is the best version of this song I have ever heard since I heard Dan Fogelberg sing Same Old Lang Syne. Some songs just touch your heart and this is one of them for me.

  • This version by the Cast was actually used in the movie "Sex in the City". It was the best part of the movie.

  • Happy New Year everyone, all over the world. Health and Happiness. Here's to a new beginning. Anything's possible. *cheers*

  • i love this version of the song

  • beautiful!!!

  • Just lovely. Thank you!

  • Beautiful.

  • Scotland the brave, The land of brave selfless warriors willing to defend those who cannot defend themselves. To all Scottish soldiers who have gave there lives in many conflicts around the world. You are the bravest of them all we shall never forget peace be with you all and your loved ones.

    :)

  • temazo! xD

  • This is the best version I have ever heard! Love it!

  • it's beautiful. i actually discovered this version on the "Sex And The City" soundtrack

  • Well that kind of takes away from it a little bit. :(

  • how does it take away from it? they played it in the movie during new years so it fits perfectly

  • Why would that concern you in the least?

  • @Procrasticus It doesnt matter where you hear it. Its a beautiful song, and one that always brings tears to my eyes.

  • @Procrasticus Why? How does it matter where you first hear it? That just sounds a wee bit snobish.

You'd think that people would be happy for others who finally hear this beauty no matter what.

  • I must agree with you. Sex and the City would ruin it.

  • @christineernurse Me too...

  • beautiful rendition of the old tune.
