  • F'G GENIOUS..............OMG............

  • I wouldn't put ads on your video, this is not yours.

  • Joe Satriani has got to be the best guitarist... <3

  • in my head is som beauty fly

  • Play this song on my funeral

  • @tutunmayan I agree, along with all the other awesome tunes Satch has "put" out.....since the '70's....................

  • just like watching Azuritereaction playing ridiculous songs on rockband shitty drum set, while other play on roland drums! or looking at danny macaskill doing it all without suspension, while others cant do shit with their 5g$ bikes.. gear is just a THING in wich you put your talent.. without talent, gear wonttake you anywhere!

  • this was my dream tone as a teenager. i never could get this sound.

  • people are jealous of not making so good music.... Joe, you are a legend

  • this is a good track,but

    some tracks i like the most are;

    made of tears

    i wanna rock

    satch boogie

driving at night (which is on his first cd) and

i believe (Which is 1 of 3 i think that he actually sings in)

all in all, i like all of his music and a bunch of steve vai's as well.

also does anyone know where you can listen to the music of the first band he played with before he started he's solo career called

    The Squares

  • @11000charles Great List.

  • most of you do not relise how hard the dynamism and feel is in this song. It requires a very precise knowledge of partial harmonics and pick cpntrol.

  • what a lot of people dont realize is the technolokgy to creat this sound was stolen from satches van back in the 80s while on a live gig, mainly a rare distortion pedal from japan that satch got, thats why none of his later albums miss this tone, lucky we have this album to remember it by, also i believe your only as good as the gear your using, something all great musicains know

  • @kingoku wrong.

i've seen people do godly things with little, it's the person not the equipment.

  • @IAMinDreams iv had people say im a great guitarist when iv had good gear and know im a way better guitarist and only have an acoustic and people say jack now, for some people it can be a mental thing aswell, if you have better gear you think your better and are more motivated to put in more soul so you are better but if you dont have the right gear for and idea than your not motivated and your music goes knowere, how many poor people are great guitarists compared to people with acces to money?

  • @kingoku maybe you should get better with an acoustic then, rather than blaming your gear. people with better gear usually get better before buying better gear, you could have professional gear and still be shit at your chosen instrument, a real musician could use a $50 acoustic and create amazing things with it,you miss the point entirely.

  • Nah credit to Vai, he's produced some incredible music over the years- mainly in Passion and Warfare and Real Illusions: Reflections. I would still however say that Satch bests him. Man's an absolute genius.

  • @Nassmagic101 Agreed with most part, but I don't think you can match a Vai against a Satch...quite different styles actually. Both are immense. Better then all those shredguitarplayers that couldn't write a melody to save their life.

  • @Nassmagic101 Agreed 100%. Alien Love Secrets is pretty good, too, but Satch is still better.

  • UNBELIEVABLE. INSPIRING.

  • G

    E

    A

    N

    T

  • Steve Vai tries so hard to write melodies this good, but so far has failed. Sorry Steve.

  • @Guitarwizard no,hes got a few good ones.Passion ad warfare come to mind.

  • 6 people are really fucking stupid.

  • @Guitarwizard Only 6? Damn, I know them all...

  • @Guitarwizard Its Up to 9

  • @Guitarwizard u misspelled "9 persons have ear problems" :)

  • The music he plays, the divine melodies, they just seem to have so much feeling to them. Listening to this song is just an incredible experience

  • 6 guys can't ear the echo

  • i love dat riff aint goin too front.

  • Whaouh! This song made me cry ! I love it !

  • A perfect aural ethreal tapestry woven....wonder what colours he uses??

  • thumbs up if you think this song should be in his set list

  • Another wonderful tune by Satriani which make me travel inside myself.

Definetly one of the great musical poets of our times.

  • at 1:57 my face melted

  • Joe Satriani maybe isn't one of the fast shredder like neo-classical guitarist, but his songs has soul and melody.

  • @SymphonyOfDestruct99 Actually he's revered as one of the fastest shredders alive. Have you ever heard him play fast? ear melting. Faster than Yngwie.

  • @trancemajestic I have most of his album but never see him play live. But i know he can play that fast if he want, but it seems for him speed is not the most important thing. He can play slower song like on the most of his self-titled album, but still sound amazing and original.

  • @SymphonyOfDestruct99 Dude he can be extremely fast , but he focuses on music not the speed , that's why it's always a pleasure listening to him .

  • @budsyremo Right now on Cspan, Romney is talking its 11:10pm ET. After hes done Gingrich will be on, make sure to listen to the music after Newt Gingrich is done with his speech, 2 Satriani songs are played, very cool.

  • strange.. sort of sounds like rush when it starts

  • One of the Best Guitar Solos. Cool 5/4 time too!!

  • good to get stoned to.

  • How nice :)

  • Wrong, 5 people are faggots. Joe is the greatest guitarist/muscian to ever live. I LOVE YOU JOE.

  • this song is sick....I cant stop listening to it!

  • My favourite Satriani song. I love this song. It is my favourite song. It's what made me start playing guitar.

  • 4 people are faggots.

  • 4 people clicked the dislike button after hatefully putting the guitar aside to sell it on ebay.

  • is everyone commenting from some foregin country? I can hardly understand what everbodys saying other then thd kiss joes ass....I love this sng...its so sad....btw :)

  • I love this song. I've listened to it a thousand times, and it still inspires me.

  • wtf? this song has 3 dislikes? come on you 3 why is it there are people who dispute Satch and love Slash?

Slash, good Guitarist but he is not on the same page as Satch!

I just know the 3 dislikes are from Slash fans....... or coldplay fans lol

  • @quaidnomore maybe they missed the like button :P

  • @gibbsies may be they danced for to long and pressed the dislike button

  • I played this cassett tape untill it died

    Changed my life.

    thanks, jakeinoblivon---

    peace, joe

  • three people didn't get to surf with the alien

Gracias.

  • if I worked for SETI then this would be the song I would be sending across the universe

  • I can play this song over and over again and never get enough of it1

  • i have a complaint.. there seems to be a "dislike" button in the video.

  • @TommittajaFIN LOL, really good comment, i don´t know if you read it in another viedo or anything but its original unlike the JB pennis dislike bar or "i´m going to kill X bastards"

    cheers

  • @RCTparks

  • to ma duszę!!!

  • Love it!

  • Btw...How dare you!!!...lol

  • Wtf how could anyone dislike this song?

  • @jakeinoblivion666 Well! There's just no pleasing some people is there?

  • @jakeinoblivion666 .... what a stoopid !!!!! ... who disliked this song ...

  • @jakeinoblivion666

that someone s'got no life ... cheers

  • @jakeinoblivion666 these two who dislike this song are from other universe:)

  • @jakeinoblivion666

i think your just a fag that dosnt know what music is

  • @jakeinoblivion666

Dude, get over it, do you think it'll affacte sales then? Seriously you can't post things you like on the net and expect everybody to love it. The internet is full of d**ks. fact

  • I see see what you mean brother...Some folks seem da tend to break down good ol' Joe and say he's to polished and stuff but they's just a lot a fools with nothing else to do.It'll probabably have to do with their upbringing or something...This song "Echo"is one of my all time favourites!

  • Is anyone else reminded of the Queline for Captain E O?

Seriously a similar baseline, check it out if you don't belive me

  • some of the best jam to listen to so positive

  • 1 person missed "like" button ...

  • I just started to really appreciate the emotion in the song. Its wierd ive heard this a thousand times and all the sudden it grabs me and pulls me in. This is awesome to say the least nice to improvise to.

  • How come a lot of great guitar players out there have such awesome last names?

  • @coldsky01 It's circumstantial. Become a great guitar player, your name will just suddenly seem more awesome ;)

  • Joe 4life

  • Awesome drum beat

  • He sure makes 5/4 sound normal. Soooo lyrical.

And there is no lyrics! Heh.

    Yeah. Sorry.

  • @paulhb-Do you get a very lonely omega man kind of feeling when you hear thus song? just wondering if this is mutual with anyone

  • @thegunclub123 If I had a soul, I would. Yeah, I know what you mean. This song elicits that emotion. Keen observation.

  • Hard to believe this was 1987-88.. Last year of highschool. Great CD.. His first 2 are the clinchers.

  • Joe n°1...i love this man

  • Master

  • one of the best satriani songs along wit circles and if i could fly

  • Guys, Eddie, Vai, and Satriani are all "elite guitarists." You could make a reasonable case for any one of them being the greatest ever.

It's pointless to argue over who could play whose material, because they probably could all play each other's material.

The difference is that one of them perhaps could not COMPOSE the style or CREATE the riff or solo.

  • @metallicarox80s

Well greatest rock players maybe. Guitar is broad, and there are a million different genres.

  • Satch's music comes from another dimension man. Pure meditation pure peace.

    God Bless.

  • @TopNotch78 Yeah, I feel the same thing. Only the new albums are crap :(

  • Why talking about technic in that kind of song? A lot of people today can play song from Satriani but thats not the point...Difference between technic skill, creating good music, feeling, goove, etc... If you just want some fast licks, sit with your guitar and practice some speed exercice 20hrs/day for 20 years...I'm sure you're gonna play fast...But I'm not sure you're gonna play good music

  • @darkdark6 You're on the money, man.

  • Wow, these two below have seemingly lost all understanding of what music is about. Instead of telling each other how much they enjoy all of those songs, they're comparing them to see which ones are more "complex" Also they want to get into the 'my favorite guitarists are better than yours' argument. There's no way to effectively debate such a thing since it's completely subjective and will only result in contradictions. This ones better, no that ones better, no this one and so on. (continued)

  • A song doesn't gain all of it's value from how complex it is. Sometimes, the songs that are less complex sound better according to both fans and musicians alike. Whether a song is super complex or simple, it has to have a "feel" to it or it's not going to be a very memorable piece. It's gotta connect with people emotionally or else it's useless. My favorite electric guitar player is satriani, but i love Halen also and he's definitely on my top 5 list

  • After a level, there are popular guitarists and guitarists' guitarists from where the popular ones learn and feel. Satriani, is the second type, also inspired by the best ever guitarist, Hendrix

  • As a musician you naturally critique and analyze the music you enjoy. Its understood that we enjoy the music we are talking about or why would we have been listening to it. To debate and the technical skill of two guitarist is completely viable. As anyone whos been to music school., particularly performance majors.

  • Jason becker, end of story.....listen to altitudes, oh by the way....he was 19 when he recorded this. Just think, if there was a god he could STILL be playing and getting somehow even better.

  • And Shawn Lane or Guthrie Govan could rape them both, the former being unfortunately dead.

  • Joe Satriani is one of the most clean playing and amazingly technical guitarists that I could honestly say beats those such as Eddie Van Halen and Alexi Laiho. He is incredible (and I'm like dedicated to Van Halen lol).

  • Honestly, alexi laiho is no one, and eddie van halen isnt in the same world as dr. satchamofunkus, nor should he ever be considered beside joe satriani.

  • Hold on.. Eddie NEVER considered next to Joe Satriani? Dude....do you even know two of Eddie's songs? He's amazing, he could destroy Joe in a guitar battle.

  • first off what is a guitar battle anyways there is no winner lol and you cant compare guitarist any intelligent person knows that

  • Of course you can, we're doing it right now.

  • A guitar battle is when two guitarist take their aptly named axes and swing them at each other until one or both are vanquished, and by vanquished i mean dead. Every intelligent person knows that.

Oh and dude you're on youtube watching instrumental guitar music, if you think people CANT compare guitarist you should read more of the comments, impossible sh*ts happening all around you. ha

  • @PRONeil06

you can compare you just cant state as a fact that someone is better/

  • Ive heard quite a few of eddies songs, and he is a phenomenal guitarist no doubt, but I mean have you heard satch? In almost everything he plays things Eddie simply couldnt. Perhaps to say never is too extreme. People who overrate alexi laiho get me all worked up.

  • I don't think Alexi is all that, but you must not know Eddie Van Halen well enough sir. To simply say that Eddie can't play almost everything Satch plays shows ignorance. Go listen to Eruption, Spanish Fly, and then listen to solos like Jump and Panama and Ice Cream Man.

  • Ive heard them man. Spanish fly is my favorite van halen song. its as simple as pulling up the the tab or sheet music. just look at it. satch's composition is way more complex, and much harder to play.

  • How so? Examples...

  • Of course eddie can play almost every part of every satch song, but in almost every satch song there are parts he couldnt.

  • Like WHAT??? WTF do you think Eddie can't play, he's incredible.

  • I thought it posted the songs i mentioned. I had posted the tab to spanish fly and the satch tab for war so you could see the difference in difficulty and composition, but if you just want a list of things eddie cant play here ya go.

    Altitudes by jason becker

Paganini 24 caprice by elliot fisk

for the love of god- steve vai

    air tap-eric mongrain

    5s-guthrie govan

i can keep going if you want.

  • Really? So Eddie tried to play these songs in front of you and failed? That's funny, I should invite him to my house sometime, I didn't know it was that simple.

  • No im saying that those songs are more difficult than anything he ever recorded, so one would assume hed have to get better to play them. Not that he couldnt after practicing and learning new techniques. Have you heard the songs I wrote? for the love of god is really the only one hed have a chance at being able to pull off in a short amount of time. Eddie is amazing but he is no where near the technical mastery that many of todays best guitarist have achieved.

  • You can't say that Eddie isn't as good because his songs aren't as complex as Vai's and Satriani's. That's complete ignorance. If Eddie has to practice to play Satch's songs, then Satch has gotta practice to play Eddie's solos.

  • Im saying that based on live and recorded material that eddies stuff is not as difficult to play as vai or satch's. Im not speculating as to how good a guitarist evh could be with practice, nor satch or anyone else, but i would bet that satch could learn evh stuff faster than evh could learn his.

  • Ok: "bet" is the last verb you use here...I think I can calm down with that instead of you insisting that Satch is best and all that.

  • EVH also lacks the abillity to wright as good as Satch, Petrucci, Vai, Brian Caroll, and countless more. Even though he does write good just doesn't really compare to many other guitarists.

  • this song changed my lives focus so much, joe satch gives me inspiration to live

  • @undergroundwest9 - Learning this solo, taught me what modes were, and thus changed my life forever too.

  • @undergroundwest9

Surfing with "an" alien, who knows? lol

  • <3 !

  • Exelente promotor del catarsis

  • honestly, this song is too gooooood . . .

  • his first two albums are amazin........ its just the 80s production that lets them down......... they sound too electronic....... the songs are amazin tho....... but could be made better if they sounded like say the extremist album which is more of a live sound.

  • I remember when i first bought this album. My Dad and I listened to the whole thing as we were driving home at night. And now I always associate this song with the thought of going to peacful sleep. Gotta hand it to Joe.

  • Wow

    Just wow.

  • Couldn't agree more.

  • SATCH FOREVER.GUITAR GOD.

  • A "complex music" rock fan here just starting to discover this highly-regarded musician. I love this song. But since I'm beginning to explore this guitar whiz, what albums, and what songs should I begin with and invest my money in?

  • 1st 3 albums , Not of This Earth , Surfing With the Alien and Flying In a Blue Dream

  • I wasn't too impressed with "Not of This Earth," but I'll recommend the second album to everyone. I like the third one also.

  • Yeah Not of This earth is a bit of an aquired taste ,but Rubina and Driving at Night are killer tunes

  • Just buy ALL of his albums. :)

  • Flying in a blue dream!

  • Definately Surfing With the Alien, and Flying in a Blue Dream.

  • Word. "Surfing" is already one of my favorites, and "Flying" is awesome. The first album was so-so, so I only purchased a few of the songs.

  • @metallicarox80s Yeah all of his albums will suffice I have all of them and they are just amazing. Especially Is there love in space one of my favorite albums.

  • Hey don't forget Memorie; Absolutley a masterpiece.

  • Mi viene la pelle d'oca ogni volta che ascolto questo pezzo.. GRANDE JOE!!!

  • Awesome

  • 1:58-2:02 and 2:26-2:30 are insane and have a very eriee sound

  • Yeah, this is awesome. The orchestration is amazing. And he has only gotten better. Remember 1988 well because of this album/disc.

  • yeah! rating number 100. love this song my fav satch album.

  • some of the most original music ever composed...luv it

  • totally awesome !

  • Seen a movie where Joe's music was used... i think it was this album...

  • I love this song, but I must say I greatly prefer the live version from his Time Traveler double CD. It's probably my favorite Satch song. I think the palm muting on the main riff makes for a much more erie feel. The video from Montreux in 1988 is alot like the audio version on Time Traveler. Go hunt down a copy of the cd if you can it's amazing.

  • This man put his body and spirit into the notes and into the guitar. . . it makes the guitar speak to you

  • 2:49-2:59: Gilmourish sounding licks.

  • this is one of my favorite satch songs ever

  • totally agree,

  • i just got into satch not too long ago (meaning a few days ago lol) but im the kinda guy that likes more upbeat stuff (satch boogie, surfing) any recommendations?
