My only problem with the ending was: Would Tosh not have heard the TARDIS? I mean, she met the Doctor in 'Boom Town' with the Ninth Doctor and though it was a very brief meeting, she still should have heard it.

Though, I like the episode ending because it makes it a bit more mysterious for those who don't watch Doctor Who. (not including me)

yeah but Jack's only there waiting for the doctor to come back cuz jack's vortex manipulator broke! but at the end of doctor who series 3 jack says that he has resonsibilites! which is torchwood which he found out when he was with the doctor! and then Ianto kept him there and at the end of torchwood (which i havent seen) i'm guessing he went because nothing was keeping him there! xxxxxxx

What always confuses me about the end of the Torchwood episode, Gwen is standing *right there* in the doorway. She would have heard the alarm, seen the hand glowing and flashing and basically going bonkers, and she would have seen Jack leave. It doesn't make sense that she'd say that she doesn't know. A better line would have probably been, "I don't know, he just ran off." or...something.

mmm that is not true he might have gone up on the lift. however, i think that they filmed them at different times, and in the TW one had the tardis come into headquarters because the TARDIS might be loud, but it isn't so loud you can hear it all the way down in TW HQ.

@dbvixxen You're right. What's more confusing is when the Tardis sound approaches at the Hub, some of the sound has been mixed or cut off. Instead of having the Tardis at the Hub to pick up Jack, the Tardis is outside of the Hub and having Jack running towards the Tardis. Incidentally; Jack would have heard the Tardis sound from the surface and teleported from the Hub to an open area and making a run towards the Tardis. I don't how he managed to get his backpack loaded and carried that fast.

Well the most obvious was the Tardis materialising in the Hub at the end of Torchwood series one, and in "Utopia" it materialises outside. That explanation goof enuf?

Not really, as the TARDIS was never shown to have materialised inside the hub. The only thing that suggests the TARDIS landed inside was the wind blowing through, and that was put in to make the Doctor's arrival all the more 'glorious'.

Jack looked directly at the Tardis as it materialized in the hub. The reason we never saw it appear was a budget issue, pure and simple, and to add some mystery. However, the fact remains that it appeared inside the hub in Torchwood, and outside in Utopia. Thanks

Torchwood series 1 sucked anyway and Utopia was a good episode. The Mothership show got the better deal if you ask me - considering Jack had to cling onto the TARDIS as it pelted through the Time Vortex to get away from him...

Unfortunately, you seem to be the only poster that is of that view. A lot of people complained about the continuity between the Torchwood finale and the Episode "Utopia" in Doctor Who. This project was an attempt to bridge the gap between the two episodes.
