Obama's election was a cultural an historic milestone. It was not a political one. She is conflating these together.

Obama is a politician. All politicians should be urged to do what is best for the country. She is instead urging us to get behind Obama.

She thinks it's more important to be progressive than to restore this country to it's original constitutional designs.

furthermore i think your diminishing the influence progressives had in getting him nominated/elected. and progressives voted their politics...not for historical or cultural reasons.

I would argue that a progressive agenda (and libertarian) are the closest, or the groups fighting the most for return to abiding by the constitution.

Progressives = socially liberal + fiscally liberal

Th difference is that Progressives want taxes to pay for other peoples' liberal lifestyles. Libertarians think you should pay for it yourself.

Therefore Libertarians and Progressives don't have much in common.

i am an idealist...but i was fully aware of what obama was when i voted for him. I live in VA, a swing state, and i didnt want mccain to win, pure and simple

yes, i am aware of the philosophical differences between progs and libertarians. i wasnt avoiding that distinction, just an observation on two parties on opposite spectrums who are trying to make a difference and restore the constitution

each has their own agenda, but for each party, restoring the rule of law seems to be a priority

i think your making the mistake of equating democrats to progressives. its like equating libertarians to republicans. im not sure if there are any progressives in congress. ron paul is a libertarian, but is often marginalized by his own party.

im sure you would agree that repubs and dems are two sides of the same coin...

i dont view Harman, Emanuel as progressives. And I would say that true progressives want a restoration of the rule of law.

But it goes back to my earlier point. Mccain offered nothing. Obama offered something...now if it was all lies then we the people can call him out as a liar.

Mccain wanted more of the same, and i viewed that as a danger to the country...but we cant get mad at Mccain for not doing what he never said he would do.

obama can be challenged on his positions because of his promises. i and others can make sure that he lives up to the hype. And if he dosent live up to his rhetoric...we can accurately call it "false." Its up to the people to make sure he lives up to his rhetoric.
