My Honda EU2000i just kept my sump pump running for 36 hours during hurricane Irene. I'm going to reward it with an oil change and valve adjustment. It would be wonderful if you could document an entire engine rebuild. Great vidieos.
@RM250D8rzr The generator was used to power the WHOLE house. I built this house and it ended up being off grid. So the little Eu2000 was used to run everything
What draws the gas from the jerry can and into the generator and if it is sucking it up 1. is that hard on the genereator and 2. does the neg pressure build in the jerry can?
If you don't mind me asking sir, how long can you safely run the EU2000i - 24hours, 48hours, 72hours? Have you ever had one break down due to excess usage?
The longest I have run mine was 19 hours. No problems. In one forum one guy said that he run his straight for 72 hours during a power outage without a problem.
If I had to, I wouldn't hesitate to run it straight for 1-2-3 days.
I am using a Nylon hose that the shop guy claimed is safe for fuel. Haven't had a problem with it yet. Also the colored bits are Airhose that is used with Air tools.
Not sure if they will affect my machine in a bad way. Something to consider though, thanks!
Sorry for the late reply. The color hoses you see in the video are from Air tools, the hoses that are used to connect them to an air compressor. So if you go to the right shop, they will have a quick connect/disconnect section that is cheap and very reliable. The pieces I use are Chinese, but I haven't had any problems with them yet.
No, I just removed the shutting valve and inserted the brass fitting. It's very easy. Just use plenty of glue to fiill the little air-vent groove when you insert the fitting.

Better suggestion, use quick disconnectors since it will be faster, less time to wait for it to reprime the aux tank.

I also use Marine gas tanks.

I use Johnson quick marine gas connectors. No need for valves

adding that small fuel filter was a really good idea. I like how you thought everything out beforehand.

How did you adapt the cap on the EU2000i? Did you purchase another cap and add the fittings to it?
cdankski 1 year ago
@cdankski
Sorry for the late reply,. No, I used the original cap. It's very easy to fix to take up a nozzle.

I see you have two tanks connected. What happens when one tank empties? Won't air get drawn up the hose?

@biggusdickus69
No! The gas gets used up at about the same rate.

1 what draws the gas into the fuel tank from the jerry can
2. if it is pressure sucking it up is that hard on the generator
3. does neg pressure build in the jerry can
4. I have a jerry can tripod for gravity feeding a space heater, do you think that would be better.

@jip001
1- Vacuum from the tank
2- No, it's built for that
3-No, there is of course an air inlet
4-NO!

great setup, though are you sure that you are using fuel hose? As these gennys don't like tolerate vinyl or pvc well
