  • I don't agree with people on the right who say that San Francisco is wrong on everything; I support the idea of treating gays equally. However, the fact that it's legal for people to be nude in public in San Francisco says a lot. (Even though it's San Francisco, I was surprised to find out that nudity isn't banned.)

  • I have nothing against gays, but there is a minority of gays that give the rest of the community a bad name by appearing nude in public during gay pride celebrations. Those people should be arrested for indecency. I have the utmost respect for the majority of gays who respect our laws.

  • Thank you for making this vid!

  • It's Orelly, we really should take him seriously, it only causes uneeded stress.

  • San Francisco has done nothing about banning bath houses, where people are infected with HIV all the time.

  • San Francisco hates the military, banning JROTC a few years ago. The city passes ridiculous laws like banning Happy Meal toys and plastic bags. I believe that sex change operations are covered for city employees. San Francisco is a mecca for drugged up hippie losers and lazy homeless bums. I have nothing against gays, but San Francisco is full of gay spectacles involving lewd acts and nearly naked (sometimes naked) people.

  • San Francisco is out of touch on issues like capital punishment and guns. The city officially praised Hugo Chavez, lol.

You libs can defend S.F. all you want by mentioning its public option, but the fact is that the city still STINKS.

  • @Edgehead10075 Well, stay out. We believe you have the freedom to chose your own path as we have the right to chose ours. Peace and Love.

  • San Francisco is also the city where the mayor BROKE THE LAW by giving marriage licenses to gays.

  • @Edgehead10075 Like when slaves were freed and that law was broken? Get real, God has no say in our law. Its not like gays are trying to get married under your God. They just want the same legal previlliges. What does gender matter in the end. What are gender roles anyway? All that is changing and it will continue to change.

  • I didn't state my opinion on gay marriage. I only stated the fact that Newsom broke the law.

  • @Edgehead10075 Bad laws need to be broken.

  • If you're going to use that logic, you have to be consistent. What if someone thinks that the ban on carrying machine guns is a "bad law," and he decides to carry one in protest?

The fact is that if you're going to break what you think is a bad law, you still have to be preparted to face the legal consequences. Otherwise, it's not bravery on your part. Newsom should have been punished for violating the law, even if he thinks he was doing the right thing.

  • @Edgehead10075 Yes, face the legal consequences. Get arrested. This woman was handcuffed and easily overpowered, or is this something u disagree on??

She does not have a machine gun, cracking her skull is not facing "the legal consequences".

My point is that this was extreme. C'mon, get real, it's a short angry/drunk woman with a baby. The cop should have had more control of his temper.

  • Do you have any comments about the ballot referendum that will ban the circumcision of males younger than 18? This idea scares me. I'm actually glad that I got circumcised as a baby, and I don't think this is any of the government's business.

  • @Edgehead10075 I'm not sure about that one. In some african traditions it's ok to disfigure female baby genitelia. Some women accept it and wish it for their daughters, but is it ok for the babies? This example is too extreme to be compared to being circumcised, I know. But I hope you see the point? I have a friend who converted to islam and got circumcised when he was 18+. I mean, it's something that CAN wait. Its a hard question, it reallly is.

  • @Edgehead10075 Because it makes me wonder what will be next, no ear piercing until they're also 18? I was pierced when I was a couple of months, it was a way to show a was female I suppose, since most babies look the same. As a San Franciscan I'd probably... Man. I'll think about it. Thanks for making me think.

  • @Edgehead10075 Also, last thing. MLK said that he new he was braking the Law and that he would probably go to jail, but that justice was on his side. So I'm not too upset with the marriage law breaking thing, it seems a lot of ppl just werent ready. I mean, a lot of ppl weren't ready to see a black president, and I'm sure a lot of people still aren't ready for a lot of things that are really OK.

  • @Edgehead10075 Oh wait, that's a different video. I'm sure we can agree on that as the years go by our laws become more liberal (no slavery, civil rights, womens rights, mix-race marriages, blacks in the military) and away from what religion says (marriage=man+woman). It's only a matter of time before gay marriage will be acceptable. I'd rather a million happy gay marriages than the jokes we have with man+woman marriages.

  • I don't disagree with you, but I think that it's sometimes better to work within the law. One could argue that what Newsom did in '04 cost Kerry the presidential election that year.

  • I lived there for a number of years in the Eighties and most of the people I knew from that time are long dead. If anything, all that "tolerance" enabled a lot of people to kill themselves slowly. Just type in Black Tar Heroin right here on youtube and see where all that "tolerance" got them. Still . . it's a beautiful fucking place I'll never forget.

  • LOL. Trust me, it's not a nice place to live unless you love cold wind and fog and have a million to spend on an average 2 bedroom house.

  • if it burnt to the ground it would not be a bad thing. what we need is an 8.0 up there badly

  • if S.F wasnt so liberal it would be a nice place to live

  • San Francisco is a boring sh*thole of a place.

  • I am so proud to be a San Franciscan. It is the greatest city in the world. I hope to spend the rest of my life here. Apparently I must be right because 76% of Americans have a favorable opinion of my city.

  • What do you think of the fact that San Francisco is an asylum city for illegal aliens, effectively breaking the law?

  • Liberal California that included the morons in S.F., Massachusetts, Vermont, Michigan, Minnesota, Washington, Oregon, Ohio and New York all Liberal meccas with whacked out environmental laws that stop business expansion thus loss of jobs when those companies finally have had enough and move. They also all have expanded gov't social engineering programs for useless layabouts that are subsidized to not only fail, but not even try! Every one of those states ARE BROKE NOW!! Utopia doesn't liberals

  • First they badmouth Massachusetts and call it Taxachusetts. They ridicule Vermont for being pro-gay. They rant about how much they hate big cities. Then they join in chorus and espouse hatred of San Francisco, one of the greatest cities in the world.

Maybe the reason the GOP is losing so poorly is because they keep bashing everyone on the electorate they don't like. Who will be left to ridicule?

  • Well, taxes ARE high in Massachusetts. I don't care about the gay issue, but San Francisco is a pile of shit. BTW, the GOP doesn't seem to be doing poorly now. They took back the House.

  • There are strange things about San Francisco, though. They banned Happy Meal toys. They banned plastic bags at grocery stores. I think it has to do with the fact that people on the far left tend to enact self righteous laws. Didn't they get rid of JROTC, too, because of anti-military sentiment? There's a supervisor named Sandoval who says that America shouldn't have a military. Let's not forget that the voters also passed a handgun ban that was later struck down.

  • Now we have some self righteous people who want to ban circumcising non-adult males, and they've gotten that referendum on the ballot. Who knows? It could pass, and it's sad if it does because it's really nobody's business. (I thought that liberals were for privacy.) It seems like San Francisco is capable of doing anything. They could ban spanking next. S.F. seems to be the place where the looney left test all of their ideas before foisting them on the entire nation.

  • BTW, I'm not anti-gay, and I don't even mind that S.F. has universal healthcare and a high minimum wage, although it might be causing businesses to leave the city. Not everything that S.F. does is bad, but not everything they do is good either.

  • Also we do need alternative fuel like nuclear power and solar energy but that is a long way from now as it seems America will be stuck on oil for decades to come...

  • Population growth is slowing down? In Europe maybe, but for the rest of the world it's exploding...i just said we are gowing to have over 9 billion people by 2050 and 435 million in the U.S.

  • @cali

No honestly worldwide population growth is slowing or projected to slow. In Europe pop growth isn't slowing. There is almost no growth.

  • But I'm reading online right now that earth's pop. is expected to rise to 9 billion by 2050 because of growth in underdeveloped nations, it's on cnn's website...I know for fact that most European nations are experiencing pop. decline...I have a friend who lives in Germany and he says that the population of Germany is shrinking every year...

  • @cali

Well 9 billion would be 50% growth in 50 years.

In 1950 world population was 2.5 billion so that means the past 50 years populaiton has grown more than 100%. That's a significant slowdown.

  • That is a slowdown, but the world pop. is still growing and I don't think more people is such a goood thing, do you think Earth has enough resources to support 9 billion people?

  • It's not going to be easy. But if you had asked me in 1950 if the world had enough resources for 6 billion. With all the famine I would have probably said no. We'll have to slash our energy consumption though. The USA bringing it down to European levels would be a huge help but it's important to see what China does.

  • "The USA bringing it down to European levels would be a huge help but it's important to see what China does." That's true...Well, it was very nice debating with you and I'd really like to continue this arguement tomorrow...I'll type up and explaination to why I believe they wouldn't assimulate tomorrow and I'll send it to you through a private message and not through a commenting box...I need to go now, again, it was very nice chatting with you...bye for now...

  • Oh yeah btw the USA IS more than twice as big as the EU. Just had to correct that ;). Really area wise the USA could easily support a billion people.

  • It could support a billion people, but an ever growing population due to illegal immigrants would mean higher prices on food and oil in the future...it would massivly effect our economy, society, and culture...it would also mean more cars and pollution...clean water is getting harder and harder to find every year in California...

  • "but an ever growing population due to illegal immigrants would mean higher prices on food and oil in the future..."

That all depends on what happens in the countries the immigrants move away from. It's a global market you see.

  • Have you ever been to the United States?

  • @cali

Only when I was very young, don't remember it anymore.

Might go on a big roadtrip there in the not too distant future.

  • Oh...good, you should visit Northern California...it's very beautiful, this is where most of California grows it's wine...Also, it is true that crime has been going down sice the 90's but I'm saying it can be much lower if we didn't have illegal immigration...Also, I don't think I inflate the issue of illegal immigration...After living here all my life, I think I have a pretty good idea of what the effects they have on American society...

  • "After living here all my life, I think I have a pretty good idea of what the effects they have on American society... "

Well one would think but a lot of your stats were not correct. Do you have any bad personal experience with illegal immigration?

  • I don't recall having "bad personal experience with illegal immigration" except for the fact that my parents hired a Mexican cleaning lady who stole silverware from us...I don't know any illegal immigrants because I go to a private school, but soon I will be going to a public school this year that has many illegal immigrant kids...So illegal immigrants don't effect me personally yet...but in the future it will with the ever growing population...

  • @cali

Ok so your issue with illegal immigration does lie with statistics and facts. And when it turns out those are inflated. Could it be your overall concern is inflated?

I don't contend California has a budget problem. But I don't accept at face value that illegal immigration is to blame for this. Does Nevada have budget problems? Or Texas and New Mexico.

  • hold on...This is a response to your last comment...Statistics show that by 2050, Earths pop. will be about 9 billion...the U.S. will have a pop. of about 435 million...because of the ever growing pop. in the U.S., there will be more cars and a greater demand for food and oil...so oil and food will most likly be more expensive if we don't find other ways to fuel our cars...and there are other ways...but I don't know if the U.S. will ever fully stop being atticted to oil, even by the year 2050

  • Yeah but population has exploded for centuries while commodity prices have gone down. But it's true that with the end of oil things are changing. But population growth is also slowing down. Anyway what we need in the short term is nuclear power and wind and in the long term solar power will probably be very good. But that's another topic.

  • My concern isn't inflated. Illegal immigration is a problem but I think it will become an even greater problem in the future. Hispanics have far more children than Americans and their bursting pop. means more people and more problems and the fact that they will effect America's politics, culture, history, society, and future is a scary thought because they come from a third world country and they are not assimulating and I highly doubt they will ever fully assimulate even if they became citizens

  • "I highly doubt they will ever fully assimulate even if they became citizens"

Why not. America is made up of assimilated immigrants. English, Germans, Fench and yes even Spanish.

  • I would have to type up a full page to why I think they would not be able to assimulate...and I have a lot to back up my statement...but I don't have enough time to explain myself right now because I need to leave soon...do you think I can send you a message tomorrow explaining why I think they wouldn't be able to assimulate, and then we can continue this debate?

  • "think they wouldn't be able to assimulate, and then we can continue this debate?"

    Of course.

  • "Also I don't think the problem is quite as big as you think it is because you've given me quite a bit of facts that do not hol dup to scrutiny." Live in Southern California for a year and you will understand why illegal immigration is such a huge problem...Do you honestly think it is a good idea to allow 13 to 20 million undocumented immigrants from a third world nation to just move into your country and recieve free health care and education and for them to spread anarchy through your country?

  • "Do you honestly think it is a good idea to allow 13 to 20 million undocumented immigrants from a third world nation to just move into your country"

No.. But I also don't think the problem is as big as you think it is.

  • Well, I have seen nothing positive come out of illegal immigration...just problems. I truly believe California would be a better place to live if our illegal immigration problem was solved back when it began in the 1970's...Crime would be lower, poverty wouldn't be as high, there wouldn't be as much traffic and pollution, and California would have a brighter future different from what CNN reported...

  • " I truly believe California would be a better place to live if our illegal immigration problem was solved back when it began in the 1970's..."

Crime has dropped tremendously since the 80s and 90s (probably the 70s as well). Maybe in spite of illegal immigration. But I'm not trying to convince you that illegal immigration isn't wrong. I'm trying to convince you that you inflate the issue.

  • Personal experience? It effects me and my future...

  • "Except if your entire problem with immigration has nothing to do with statistics but something else." ok...what is this "something else"?

  • @cali

You tell me. Maybe bad personal experience?

  • Did you check out the video "California population story" on youtube?

  • @cali

The CNN story? Yes I did.

Also I don't think the problem is quite as big as you think it is because you've given me quite a bit of facts that do not hol dup to scrutiny. Except if your entire problem with immigration has nothing to do with statistics but something else.

  • jpbalkenende, I was reading some of the comments you have on your youtube account..apparently, you like to argue...and that you know something about American politics...But you are Dutch correct? Why are you so interested into American political history?

  • Because Dutch political history is so boring.

And because despite it's recent downfall the USA is still the most important/influential western country. I also don't really have that many big issue with the Netherlands or Europe. I'm a centrist here.

  • That's very interesting, I guess if I have to convince you on an issue such as illegal immigration, I must make sure that I have my facts straight and something to prove my statements...you seem very articulate...I'd really like to make you understand that illegal immigrants have been nothing but a burden on American society and will continue to be a burden until we can solve our immigration mess or elect a new congress or president. But I think you really have to visit here and see for yourself

  • "But I don't think the problem is quite as big as you've been convinced it is." It is quite big, you don't live here so you wouldn't understand...

  • "but most Americans are confused over the Iraq war because of mass confusion by our media..."

Yes but Americans live in a free market democracy. If they don't like their media they can do something about it. Instead I see the same guys on TV, like mr O'Reilly here, that fed the drumbeat and were the biggest leaders in the new age of Mccarthyism after 9/11 and is still going on today.

  • We have more than just O'Reilly...most American news networks and newpapers do have a liberal biase when reporting on politics and social issues like gay marriage, abortion, and illegal immigration...

  • @cali

Journalist choose their profession because they have a passion for truth. You don't become a journalist if you want to become rich you become a lawyer. So if Journalist have a liberal bias that's something you should be worried about.

Either way you are very young, I'm not old myself but you would do some good into finding some columns or news clips from the pundits of around about 2002-2003. If they haven't removed them in shame yet. Most of these people shouldn't be on tv.

  • Ok...anyways, I think San Fransisco is a beautiful and modern city...I just hate the politics and the people...the city has major problems and they have an incredibly corrupt mayor who has been breaking federal law on illegal immigration...but I think they're are better cities to live in than San Fran in Cali...

  • They're are great areas with many educated indiviuals other than San Fran like Orange County, California...I really want to move here someday because the county is very socially conservative, modern, and is just an amazing place to live in SoCal...

  • @cali

Why are you whining about arrogance yet making incredibly dimwitted statements like "...I just hate the politics and the people". That's pretty damn harsh.

So illegal immigration fills you with rage? Why exactly?

  • If you can see a glimpse of what illegal immigrants have done to this once great state then we may be able to agree on one thing at least....it would take me literally hours to explain the effects illegal immigration from Mexico has done to this state over the last 30years...

  • @cali

I'll take your word for it just so long as you know that crime rates aren't higher among illegals in the USA.

  • Statistics show that 30% of all prisoners in America's state prisons are hispanic or latino...most of them are illegal immigrants...California would be such a more safer place to live if we can have the illegal immigrants go back to their home nations...L.A. prisons are over-filled with latino and African American gangs...we don't have enough prison space anymore...

  • "Statistics show that 30% of all prisoners in America's state prisons are hispanic or latino"

I call bullshit. But even if it wasn't FAIR (major anti illegal immigration site):"the illegal alien prison population represented a bit more than 4.54 percent of the overall prison population."

  • That is about the same as the % of illegals in the country so it's average not more criminal.

  • Really...Then I wonder where I got that statistic...matbe it was for California prisons...I'm not quite sure...but that doesn't matter, If you can see Los Angeles, it looks a lot like Mexico City in a lot of areas like in East L.A. But I live in the suburb cities about an hour away from L.A., but they're are still many illegal immigrants who attend my public school...

  • "but they're are still many illegal immigrants who attend my public school... "

Yeah and your problem with that is overcrowding? I'm fairly certain with the level of sales tax illegals still pay they are fairly self sustainable. Always keep that in mind when people project impressive numbers of popullation growth and extra infrastructure (or tax) cost in general. illegals don't pay income tax but they do spend all their money on food and goods to survive so they do pay tax.

  • "Always keep that in mind when people project impressive numbers of popullation growth and extra infrastructure (or tax) cost in general. illegals don't pay income tax but they do spend all their money on food and goods to survive so they do pay tax." That's true but it costs billions more in tax money to give them health care, educating they're children, and having them stay here for decades overall...

  • "That's true but it costs billions more in tax money to give them health care, educating they're children, and having them stay here for decades overall..."

Is that really true though? I mean they aren't even elligible for most gov programs are they? Some slip trough the filter but not all.

  • It is by law that no school or hospital can deny service to illegal immigrants...it is seen as inhuman to do so...So if you aren't a U.S. citizen, you get free health care and education...

  • California has a 92 billion dollar debt because of illegal immigrants...when we used to have billions in surplus money about a decade ago...now the state is broke and some hospitals and schools are closing their doors because they are overflooding with illegal immigrants...Southern California is facing problems such as masssive traffic on freeways and highways, water and air pollution, crime, and so much more because of illegal immigrants...

  • Ugh.. Here we were trying to get to the bottom of the facts and you give me all these statements that I just know don't hold up to scrutiny (like the crime bit).

    What's Cali's total debt?

  • about 92 billion dollars and it is a well known fact and our governer is trying to do as much as he can to solve it...

  • And how do you know that those 92 billion dollars are all to do with illegals? Are you sure it's not a deficit btw? The USA has a $9 trillion debt I'm sure that's all to do with illegals as well and not with the multi trillion $ war, trillion dollar rax cut and tanking economy huh?

  • Oh my God, listen...California's debt is mainly because of illegal immigration...the U.S. has a $9 trillion dollar debt because of the war and other issues...But my focus is on California...California is broke because we spend billions every year on health care and education for them and they're children...our resources are now becoming very limmited, like clean water and other things...

  • California has a debt because it has an unbalanced budget. If you say that is mainly due to illegals then you have to prove it. How man billions does California spend on illegals? How many billions of revenue do they product? Substract the numbers and you will get the ammount of debt due to illegals.

FAIR said Cali spends 10 billion on illegals, that excludes any tax they pay but even still that is far less than 90 billion.

  • mkay...

  • just find and watch this video on youtube "California population story" it's a cnn report on what I see happening to this state everyday...

  • I did. Impressive figures but what SPECIFICALLY is your worry. Maybe we can argue.

  • I'm worried with many things...I'm not quite sure if I could put it all down here on the web...they don't asimulate into our society and they're changing our culture...California is becoming very corrupt and our living standards are lagging behind all other industrialized nations and we are lowering our education standards so they can graduate from our public schools...

  • because of illegal immigrants California has the 3rd to worst public schools in the United States and we can't even compete with any schools in Europe...and I dispise liberals because most liberals support illegal immigration even though they know it's damaging our country very greatly...byt the year 2050, the U.S. will have a pop. of over 435 million people...Overpopulation will limit our resourses and I'm worried it will effect my future...

  • "byt the year 2050, the U.S. will have a pop. of over 435 million"

There's no inherent problem with this, Europe is what.. 1/3 the size of the USA? 500 million people there. Also Europe is far more liberal maybe that's why education is so much more superior over there. Just a guess but so is your statement.

  • "Also Europe is far more liberal maybe that's why education is so much more superior over there." *rolls eyes* Anyway, If you look at a map, Europe is Actually Larger than the United states or about the same size geographically, but population wise, Europe has a larger pop., but the U.S. pop. growth isn't by natural growth, it is by legal and illegal immigration and the fact that illegal immigrants have more children than Americans...

  • "Anyway, If you look at a map, Europe is Actually Larger than the United states"

When qouting the 500 million figure that's just for the EU but I was wrong the USA is only about 30% larger (forgot about Scandinavia) than the EU.

  • Also, California schools are about a year and a half behind Many schools in Europe, on the east coast of the U.S. where there are less hispanics and minorities, schools are as advaced or even more advanced than many schools in Europe...The U.S. has the best universities, out of 500 of the worlds best universities, over half are American I think...

  • Europe being liberal has absolutly nothing to do with it having advaced education...that's a rediculous statement...

  • @cali

Well the government has a lots to do with investment in education so who knows. I think "public education is horrible because of illegals" is also ridiculous if you don't back it up with anything. Listen, I'm not trying to convince you illegal immirgation isnt... you know ILLEGAL. But I don't think the problem is quite as big as you've been convinced it is.

  • "The U.S. has the best universities, out of 500 of the worlds best universities, over half are American I think" Sounds a bit overestimated.

    1. Harvard (US) 2. Camberidge (UK) 3. Oxford (UK) And the British uni system costs less in it's entirity than Harvard alone.

  • *concentrated

  • Boring video and I live here!

  • San Fransisco values are western values. It's the rest of the USA who're outta whack.

  • when i went to san diego some told me the bay is full of fags and it ain't right. I said it's full of people that are accepting. San Diego is conservative for it's 3 military bases and immigration problems.

  • Well...no, American values are not San Fransisco values...San Fransisco values are values that sprung up during the sexual revolution of the 1960's that most of the country rejected...American values have always included a deep faith in God, morals, and conservatism...something San Fransisco socially rejects...

  • Read again caliguy.

I didn't say San Fran values are America's values I said the opposite. I couldn't care less what either you Christian or Islamic fundies proclaim to be your values they are not western values. America today is out of whack in the western world. You're the exception. You get to share the stage with the likes of Turkey, Poland, Mexico and maybe some of the Islamic countries. Not much more.

  • "San Fransisco is full of free thinking, open minded, intelligent people." That is an opinion. In my opinion, San Fransisco is full of arrogant, close minded, hypocritical, and morally corrupt individuals...of course not all people in San Fran are like this but they're seems to be a lot of people who are this way...They're plenty of "free minded", intelligent, honest, respectable, and good people out in America...conservative or not...

  • Also caliguy this is an international site. Saying people have no morals may fly in the intellect vacuum that is the political scene of the United States of America but it will get you mocked in any other free place. I don't see much morals in a people responsible for all this death and destruction in the middle east. Sure it was misguided and not intentional but I see no repent and thus a severe lack of any ethics.

  • I don't support Bush or the Iraq war...most American don't suppoert Bush or the war either...A lot of what you say is more of opinion, not fact...and you can't really compare the United states to Mexico or Turkey or to any other nation, maybe Canada, but that's just all opinion...

  • @cali

If we're talking about values, which we are, then I can compare the USA to those countries. If you want to talk other subjects that's fine. Outside of values the USA doesn't have much similarities with those examples I gave but that's really not what we where talking about.

  • "I don't support Bush or the Iraq war...most American don't suppoert Bush or the war either..."

But most Americans that share your values DID cali, and they did for a very long time. Incredible really. And they have made no effort whatsoever to make any good for that. It did a lot of indirect damage as well. For example it gave Russia the perfect excuse to invade Georgia (who I strongly support), emboldened Iran and North Korea. You see the world is paying for the mistakes people like you made.

  • People aren't perfect and people make mistakes...sometimes on a very large scale...but most Americans are confused over the Iraq war because of mass confusion by our media...many Americans don't know what to think about the war or who we should vote into office..."For example it gave Russia the perfect excuse to invade Georgia (who I strongly support), emboldened Iran and North Korea." I don't think the U.S. had anything to do with this...I believe Russia acted on its own...

  • Yes I also believe Russia acted on it's own. I also know Russia wouldn't have had anywhere near the political courage to do what it did if it wasn't for the recent history in the middle east. Most foreign policy experts agree with me. Now I don't mean to insinuate that America is in anyway to blame for Russia's actions, in fact I get irritated when liberals or libertarians defend Russia over this. But it is an indirect result of the absolute cluelessness of conservbative policy.

  • I'm a conservative but I don't support the Iraq war and they're are many conservatives that don't support it either and I don't think Bush is a true conservative because many of his political beliefs are different from mainstream conservative beliefs like on illegal immigration, education, and many other social issues...

  • "That is an opinion. In my opinion, San Fransisco is full of arrogant, close minded, hypocritical, and morally corrupt individuals.."

No THAT is an opinion. San Fransisco is full of open minded people maybe too open minded for some, it's also a FACT that the people of San Fransisco are intelligent. I believe Seattle is the only major city in the USA that is more educated, maybe Boston as well not completely sure.

  • "Open-mindedness" is based more on someone's opinion of what they consider to be open minded...and I never said there weren't many intellgent people who live in San Fran...they're are many intelligent people anywhere you go...they are not just concintrated in the San Fran bay area...

  • @cali

Fine have it your way. I frequently use intelligent and educated as synonyms. So let me correct it, San Fransisco is full of educated people and educated people ARE concentrated in the bay area. Happy?

  • "So let me correct it, San Fransisco is full of educated people and educated people ARE concentrated in the bay area. Happy?" You sound like someone from San Fran...very arrogant...please try and talk to me in a more polite mannar...and again, They're are many educated people in San Fran and they're many educated people all over the U.S. but they are not concentrated in the San Fran area...Have you ever been to the U.S.?

  • @cali

Cold hard statistics my friend. I am not from the bay area and I don't envy them either.

  • I've been to the bay area and I know San Fran because I know statistics very well and many people who have a sense of reality and the real world who have grown up near or in San Fran usually move far away as possible if they have the chance because....well, people they're a tad bit strange...

  • "well, people they're a tad bit strange... "

Now THAT'S an opinion. The statement "educated people are concentrated in the bay area" is not. If you think those people have no sense of reality fine. But that doesn't change the fact that they or the bay area in general is well educated. Those are the stats.

  • I love San Francisco!

  • Aren't you on YouTube? Without San Francisco there would be no YouTube, or Google, there would also be no Intel, no Apple, no HP, no Cisco, no Yahoo!, no Silicon Valley and no internet-era boom. By this count, San Francisco is hardly Detroit.

You should be proud of San Francisco as an American, not hate on it!

I guess that hate could only come from a Bush/O'Reilly lover that doesn't at all mind the $3 trillion spent on a useless, counter-productive war.

  • Without San Francisco, it would have been done somewhere else. Economics rules, not geography.

  • Yes but it's not coincidence it happened in San Fransisco. San Fransisco is full of free thinking, open minded, intelligent people.

  • Who cares what you Bill O'Reilly fanboys think. When O'Reilly announced his boycot of France, exports just kept right on going and in fact boomed. San Fransisco has enough tourists so the fact that you won't go there won't mean shit. Now there is a reason why no tourists ever go to whatever southern shithole you live in.

  • LOVE THE CITY!!!

  • San Francisco, the home of Full House and Charmed!

  • Don't forget That's So Raven.

  • people in san fransisco dont see things by race, religion, gender, class or socio economics they see the good in everything great clip of the bay makes me wanna put a flower in bill oriellys hair and let his love light shine

  • Lived in the Bay Area for ten years. Frisco is beautiful, but unfortunately crazy people took over and have run the city for a long time now. I am glad to be long gone from there, as I am sure the City is glad to be rid of a libertarian conservative like me. Frisco will definitely get its commeuppance one day.

  • I've lived in San Francisco for nearly 20 years and counting. I can tell you that escaping the provinciality of where I grew up was the best thing I ever did. Those who talk down this city in such garish terms, I find, have invariably never been here, otherwise they would know what a great place it is. We got liberals, and we got conservatives, as well. We have Gay Pride one week and Fleet Week with the Blue Angels the next. Where else can you get all that? Nowhere.

  • This is a great video, and it's so true. Sorry that we're better than the rest of the country. Well, not really.

  • Don't lie San Fransisco should rule the world, fuck my honky state of Texas, oh so red, kind like Iraqi civillian blood.

  • I think Bill has a valid point with his rhetorical question. San Francisco as a city does not at all reflect the rest of America. Its population votes more heavily Democrat than just about any other city besides Washington, DC. They attempted to ban all handguns from the city, which is clearly unconstitutional.

  • The city council or whatever they are called rejected the honor of having the battleship USS Iowa permanently kept there as a monument to the service of the US Navy in our important wars, because they are heavily pacifist and anti-military. One of the supervisors even cited "the war in Iraq" as a reason to reject the USS Iowa (which served in WW2 through the Persian Gulf War).

  • There are citizens groups in San Francisco trying to ban everything from plastic grocery bags to bottled to even the Blue Angels. Not to mention that the city declares itself a sanctuary city for illegal immigrants. I think all of those things put together indicate that SF is significantly different from the rest of America, and that the rest of America is probably not "ready" for those values.

  • I agree with much of what you say. However, while I sit here watching the Blue Angels over the bay, Fleet week is here. Let me tell you, it is quite a celebration! (of course, any excuse to party)Today is the Castro Street Festival, but guess what the newspapers are talking about? Fleet week!!!Guess which is going to get the larger crowds? Fleet week!!!. We take it ALL in, and enjoy - even celebrate - such diversity. But you're right, the country isn't ready for us. Pity.

  • There's something to be said for tolerance. I fully agree that all the wacky groups I listed off should be tolerated. The problem is, many of them have enough influence to actually make a difference, so you can't just tolerate/ignore them. You have to fight them to prevent them from damaging society.

  • Yes a lack of plastic bags, and illegal asian and latinos will bring down America, possibly we are really going broke from the BA.

  • Plastic bags send troops into foriegn lans to die for oil. Good for them they release toxins, Maybe they should not ban them but just charge 20 dollars a bag, then send that money to Iraq.

  • Good for them. The United States should be non-violantly but physically prevented from leaving its territory. China and Russia and The EU should do it. Iraq and Afghanistan are the worst thing that have every happened to the West since WW2 and to the US ever.

  • I am from Germany and I love SF. Its the best place in the US.

Its the most modern economy in the world, and the most modern society in the US. And it wouldn't surprise me if they are the best educated people in the US. And I don't only talk about intellectual education, I talk about the pragmatic technological education. Even Tokyo didn't manage to copy the SF economy model.

  • we are the most post-modern city in the world. Modernity would reflect conformity....

  • San Francisco is an amazing place. It's one of the most beautiful and intelligent cities in the world.

  • SAN FRAN RULES!

  • if you hate san francisco and it's 'values' so much then fuck off somewhere else there are plenty of people arouns including me who love the city so you needn't worry about being missed. i think more people here should be sticking up for the city you love, instead of waffling on about all this political crap. the people of san francisco are open minded sure but you're being ridiculous!

  • SF is the greatest city I ever been

  • Not easy - as a "dumb ass lib", we have gun laws. I prefer frustration by discussion...

  • Ah, gun laws. Where it's okay for criminals to have guns, but not law-abiding citizens.

  • Guess our definition of morality is different - of course, that was obvious to the both of us. Christians are tolerated here - heck, we even using them for lion taming once in a while.

As far as "legal" employment - I won't debate your point, but I don't find a problem in allowing work for pay. It's hard enough for us to find qualified workers, and this artifical immigrant issue - well, we here in Northern Mexico/ Eastern Asia don't have a problem with it.

  • And part two of this scenario - the Mayors OFFICE issues over 1000 proclamations a year, this particular one "got by". While the proclomation in of itself is meaningless, the company in question is a legal business, employeeing many people (editors, script people, marketing types, etc - you know, the kind of job many contributors to You Tube would like) for over 25 years. It's too bad we couldn't be a little more thankful for a business offering legal, RESPECTABLE, emplyment.

  • Let look at some "San Francisco values" shall we? Hatred of the military, hatred of Christianity, hatred of Jews, hatred of capitalism, support for jihadists, and the homosexual agenda.

  • What TV station are you watching? None of the "hatreds" you list have any place in San Francsico, nor do they exist (to an extent any greater than any other American City).

Support of jihadists? Who, What, Where????

The homosexual agenda? If you mean letting people be themselves without persecution, letting people love whom they wish without judgement, letting people be honest about themselves without persecution - then yes, this one part of your statement is correct.

  • Sorry I was born and raised in SF and your statements are ridiculous. San Franciscans don't really hate we are just open minded. Your just a sucker for right wing propoganda.

  • If San Francisco is so open-minded, why don't they tolerate people who support the military instead of godless pricks and jihadists?

  • What makes you think WE don't support our military. I have family in the military. We have plenty of different kinds of churches here in the city. It's funny how you think you can generalize an entire city. We do have liberal politics but keep in mind they are American politics. And not all atheists are pricks, in fact I meet more religious pricks than I do atheist. SF has a lil of everything except most people are open minded, of course there are the extreme left as well but they are nimrods.

  • San Franciscans, like myself, value our rich historical progress, innovation, region, diversity, equality, institutions, cuisine, museums, celebrations, neighborhoods, architecture, being a safer place from prejudiced intolerance or ignorance, and sharing the spirit of the City with guests who come long distances to see what we're all about. No apologies, no regrets. Next...

  • San Francisco is a gem in the entire world not just the United States.

  • Its funny how, despite San Francisco's high property value, booming economy, beautiful scenery, and leading the country in gun control and environmental laws, the only thing conservatives can concentrate on is the gay issue. Just goes to show the narrow minded and insecure world they live in.

  • A child deserves a loving father and mother, sorry, gay marriage can't provide that.

That said, as a conservative, I like SF and its people, although I disagree with the agenda that SF politicians promote.

  • So single-parent households shouldn't be allowed? If a father or mother dies or takes off, the child should be taken away from the remaining parent because "a child deserves a loving father and mother" and they "can't provide that"? Interesting argument you put up there. And by 'interesting', I mean 'stupid'.

  • look at these little hill billys takin shit about the sco, are u kiddn me we got blacks, irish, italians, russians, chinese, thai, japanese, tongan, flipinos, all different latinos, the reason y people hate on the city is cuz socially we are light years ahead of yall, the song is kinda week alittle RBL Posse or nickatina woulda worked better

  • ayo

  • San Francisco aka city of faggots

  • Hagard and Foley don't live here - we are too honest to allow such foolishness to occur. Gayness isn't what's hated - just our ability to let others be honest to themselves.

San Francisco really is diverse - you are reacting to the visuals taken showing another aspect of our world. Hey - visit us and see the beauty! I promise your immortal soul will be safe...

  • I hate people on my side of the aisle who should represent me & then turn out to be complete hypocrites. If you ask any politican analyst San Francisco is a very left-wing city. with all due respect, i doubt there are many in your city who respect conservatism & traditionalism. there was once a protest against Gay marriage in your city recently. There was then a counter protest, the people in the counter protest started shouting "Racists Fascists Go Away."

  • You call people "faggots" and then turn around and accuse others of not treating you with respect? Listen to yourself. It is utter hypocrisy. If you want people to honor your rights and treat you with respect, you absolutely need to do the same. And if you don't want people to accuse you of being a bigot, then for God's sake, don't act like one.

  • You best reeducate yourself, son. Just because you pick out a small slice of a protest population does not give you the right to judge an entire city on its values. You say that there was a protest against Gay Marriage--a freedom of speech--and there was a counter protest--freedom of speech. The speech does not matter, the freedom does. Was Gavin Newsom stopping the Gay Marriage protest? San Francisco is the classiest city in the world and we are open to freedom. Now that's a value.
