Saw Rumer segment on Sunday Morning...an amazing voice and of course, I love ANYONE who perpetuates Laura Nyro's music...Rumer's voice is very pure and pitch, right-on...thanks for posting, oldgreycat...

Buckspring95, props, but to me Laura sang "Tell 'em the YOUNG LORD has come, to bring liberty to everyone"? As with "Johnny ain't come home from war" it's about her fiance's tour in Vietnam. Laura opened A.D. at the Fillmore East on May 30, 1971, and closed with Mother Earth, what a way to book-end a concert! Laura omitted A.D. on BBC radio on May 15, 19'71, but sang Mother Earth? I wonder if she sang "I love him body and soul" at the BBC concert, as she did with M.E. at the Fillmore? Rabdrake

Rumer performed American Dove here in San Francisco last night. It was very soulful. She called on Laura's spirit to guide her through the song as she told us she had a bit of a cold. Don't miss Rumer, she delivers big time!!!!

I was one of the VERY lucky 50 or so people to have been at this first show of Rumers' in the US at the World Cafe Live. Call me what you will, I don't care but I can not make it through her version of this song without having to stop myself from tearing up. This is heaven on a microphone. And to have witnessed this exact performance first hand from 15 feet away was absolutely priceless... God, so beautiful...

I cried when I heard Laura sing American Dove Live, and watching you just now gave me tears & made me so happy and proud of what justice and glory you have done to the song.
