  • A Top 5 hit for Lesley Gore in February 1964. This hit is part of Rock History, IMO. It was #2 on February 1, 1964. I Want to Hold Your Hand by The Beatles was #1. I don't think that anything more needs to be said.

  • Lesley hit #2 in Billboard, 2-1-64. Ever heard Lesley talk nowadays? She sounds nothin' like a soprano voice, now. I wonder if she smokes, to have her voice sound as deep as it does? IDK! God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! Shalom, Lesley!

  • It was a bit different from the regular my boyfriend's mine and back songs of that time, but still noteworthy. also, I didn't know of the song until "The First Wives Club"

  • Thanks. A great song.

  • oh lesley gore i have loved you since i was 10. i remember dancing down krogers isles listen to your music :)

  • Quite ahead of its time - a post feminest anthem that still retains its female charm and avoids the goofy posing of a later hit, "I Am Woman" Thanks for the upload.

  • wonderful time for music and this song is one of the best.

  • listen in movie the woods, lovely!

    from brazil

    =)

  • around 1 minute this song seems to start skanking!! check it out

  • Awesome!

This copy is pretty hard to come by on vinyl locally, but still looking.

  • Great special effects! I love this song, I have the re-pressing on Mercury and it's a true stereo vinyl 45rpm. Also have this on CD... the instrumentation and effects and engineering of these recordings really made them winners for Lesley! thanks for the vid

  • The mono, single-tracked, version of You Don't Own Me sounds great also. There is also a mono, single-tracked version of I Don't Wanna Be A Loser that is pretty good!

  • sounds great!

  • Terrific. Not only a vinyl copy, but a jukebox playing. Thanks!

  • @bencheshire It's just a simulation of a jukebox... but a great song nonetheless.

  • Thanks for posting this gem by Lesley from her 2nd Mercury album, Lesley Gore Sings of Mixed-Up Hearts!
