Back in the day, Channel 39 was not the CW. If my memory serves me at least semi-well, it was KHTV. Do you have any clips of it? I remember KHTV was a good station and a classy station. One more thing, I was just looking at your channel, and with all those clips, you must have been either a reporter or a cameraman. Could you please let me know what position you held? Someone asked you if you had when Marlene McClinton quit on air. I'd like to see it too. Thanks
That shot had four different sources, three of them keyed in (Dave, the cg and the coming up animation). For 1989 that was very impressive...but also hell for the technical director. I'm amazed, considering the frantic nature of a control room during the news, that things like this did not happen more.
This is true. So far, the oddest thing I've seen with regard to this sequence is one occasion when the tape w/ the animation rewound. I need to find that one again!
Man, Dave Ward, Shara Fryer, and Marvin Zindler were just as much a representation of Houston as the Astrodome was back in those days. Good Ol' Channel 13!
@whutdahell31 True, Dave, Shara and Marvin were a huge representation of Houston. I remember Channel 13 had a beautiful song that they would sing, and it went like "Move closer to your world my friend. Move closer to your world. Move closer to your world my friend, and you'll see". It was a great song, and I wish they played that same song still, and I wish they played it that same way. Just reminiscing. Thanks
Do you have any videos of Marlene McClinton walking off the KHOU set when she quit in 1999 ?
I laughed my butt off when she did that.
