  • i think his problem might be it sounds great whilst high then when he comes in the next day (not high) it sounds terrible.. lol, only joking i dunno maybe it is the moon

  • i have found that my generic steel snare sounds better and more reliable than most other name brand ones ive tried. its all custom really but the shell came with a cheap set i cant even remember and i use pearl hardware and it seems to be the brightest and cleanest ov any ive tried to record.. snares are a beautiful drum regardless, and very tricky!!

  • @Riatonious I'm not sure I understand why you'd post the CA mission statement here, friend.

  • ludwig supraphonic!

  • PS: All that said, I think he's a great engineer with a lot of passion for his work. The 500 character limit only allowed me to post the "negative" part of my comment!

  • Worked w. ET in the 90's. Though I had much experience as a performing drummer, his was my 1st major studio gig. Before I picked up a stick, the guy made me feel so inadequate that I blew the session, never recovered and ended up leaving the business!

I'd recommend that all young engineers try to be a little more sensitive to the musicians you work with. A wood kick beater may record well, but a guy who's been using a felt one for 20 yrs isn't going to adapt during the course of 1 session.

  • aha yea "phases of the moon" made me laugh.

This guys pretty far out but you can tell he knows his stuff.

  • "phases of the moon" lmao

  • Keltner!!!!

  • That special thing made of the hundred year old woods are the DW drums, they are expensive like crazy

  • I like this guy. He's cool. You can tell he's an artist. I don't really care for the guy questioning him though. I could do with out him.

  • That WAS a piccolo. Not all piccolos are shallow, some are smaller diameter like the one you saw.

  • man this guy is a badass.

but that wasnt a piccolo snare.

  • Eric is a cool cat!!! I had the pleasure of hangin out with him back in the mid 80's and he taught me much of what I know about recording, songwriting, and life in general.

Right on ET! Glad you are well, man!!
