Most computer's motherboards can only take a certain amount of ram. I rememeber in the 6th grade, my technology teacher put in 4gb of ram in a computer that can only accept 2. wow, the worst thing that happened was it couldn't record audio or something. Well, that's why he doesn't use it anymore. =) you might want to get a new motherboard somewhere like bestbuy or any other tech store.

It will make it faster, depending on how slow it is. Ram always helps but it's usually meant for if you're running a bunch of large programs at the same time, like Photoshop and Dreamweaver.
