  • can you do something like this for the other apparatus??

  • is it just me or do the gymnastics from before seem alot harder..

  • I love the Gienger - Pac Combo @ 4:43. Such a unique combo.

  • The 70s and 80s just seem like Cirque Du Soleil acrobatics. It was definitely less about form and precision then and more about ooo-ing and aw-ing.

  • He Kexin but no Nastia Liukin? :(

  • @HannahMugford Liukin is there, 5:13-5:25.

  • I prefer the pre 1980's style. The movement was more graceful... more fluid. I appreciate the power and technical ability of today's gymnasts however, I feel what they are doing is too close to what the men are doing on the high bar. Thanks for the trip down memory lane - excellent video.

  • Seriously some of the choreography and technique from the 50's is far more fluid and beautiful than all the powers moves we're used to seeing. As the video progresses to more modern times, gone is the artistry and immediately it's all power and intense dismounts.

  • 2.41 is such a good move!

  • the 60's to 70's bars were far more amazing than now

  • I love the Nabieva move!!

  • WOW i think bars from the 50's is totally different from today

  • Would be nice if you put the names os the girls in the video so we can know who is who.

  • Oh my god! This proves that, over the years, women have SERIOUSLY shrunk, lengthwise!

    :)

  • @iwax64 how can you tell? the only actual proof could be some statistics not some gymnast vids

  • Oh my god! This proves that, over the years, women have SERIOUSLY shrunk, lengthwise!

    :)

  • those bars were just retarded close together in the 50s damn

  • @wtfgayvidz i have to agree with you

  • The older one are the best 50's and 60's !!!

  • the bast was all at the beggining. the last few ive seen all before!!

  • Love seeing the dismounts off the lower bar. <3

  • I would never be able to do that.

  • who she at 1:52 ?

  • @sasow33 Olga Korbut.

  • I wish we could get the Michelle Sessions' mount (front tuck with a half immediate glide) which was way cool, too.

  • When the bars were closer together, it looked so cool when the women would randomly bounce off of the bars.

  • Some of those clips at the beginning look older than the '50s.

It is interesting to see how bars has evolved.

  • why did the bars keep moving further apart?

  • @caillinnumberonefan I would like to know that too!

  • @summerbaer25 i guess simply just by the evolution of movements.... the harder the movements were the more they reqcuired that the bars move further apart.... that's just what i think

  • @comaneci1 That's probably true. I personally like the bar routines from the '60s, '70s and '80s more that the modern ones.

  • Thanks for this video! How interesting! I love to see the trends of gymnastics over the years... This is a great example of how things just keep chugging along.....

  • That's great to see such a huge evolution in the sport. It's interesting to see how close the bars were set back in the day.

  • Well, it has changed a bit... :-)

  • "uneven parallel bars"

i never realized that they actually used parallel bars!

  • Why did it change so much?

  • Woa... 70's were the best.

Even if girls on uneven bars jump higher and are more powerful nowadays, the moves were much crazier back in the day.

  • I defintely prefer todays bars. While appreciating the old stuff as well!

  • Who was that in the 80s with the Deltchev? And I still have the original video with "Little Earthquakes" on my HD. :)

  • Good golly, this video's inspiring. Great pick of music as well!

  • what's the song?

  • @MrCodaman The rock

  • what is the name of the music????!!!

  • @deontan The rock

  • what is the music called??

  • I so wish we could still have the bars like that xD

It seems to make things a bit easier but a lot more things possible...

  • Wow! a really cool montage! Good job! :D

I think every decade had some interesting and nice to watch bar work^^

  • It seems to me that as soon as they moved the bars far enough away that you couldn't do bar beats anymore, the routines lost their flair. If I wanted to see Men's high bar, I'd watch Men's high bar. I love this early stuff. It's so much more beautiful then bars are today.

  • if it all started with the p-bars, why didn't women just got into p-bars?

and is it also the reason why today's uneven bars are made of wood?

  • who is the gymnastics in the 60's with the large yellow-ish hair? i feel like i have seen her before/she is famous, but i cannot for the life of me remember her name!

  • @lilmissunperfect21 that's vera caslavska

  • One big difference were the athletes. In the 50s they were taller and less muscular.

As the sport progressed, the athletes appear to be shorter and had A LOT more muscularity. The video from the 90s had a camera above the bars, allowing use to see the distance between the bars most accurately. Whatever differences, it's an amazing sport.

  • It pretty much all looks the same to me.

  • 4:23 she grabbed it with her toes or defied gravity one of the two

  • @TheDouGhBoYsTyLe what do you meaan ?

  • @gymnast1560 I think that they meant when she grabbed the low bar with her feet while her arms were above her head.

  • And suddenly, THE ROCK.

  • @VictorUnNettoyeur by Hans Zimmer too just incase :)

  • <3 This montage

  • Love it =) Just a perfect choice of videos

  • my favorite would have to be the 80s routines!

  • c'est trop beau !!!!

  • wowwwwww it's very very good

  • beautiful beautiful beautiful... now is it just me or as the years went on did the bars grow farther and farther apart?

  • @lillyhill4 ofcourse they went so much farther apart ...

  • I liked it! Well done!!

  • I personally love the 90's! The only problem I have with today's bar routines is that the low bar is pretty much neglected. I would love to see more gymnasts use the low bar like Amy Chow. Also, I miss seeing those beats around the bars.

  • :O wow. They make it look so effortless when I know from first hand experience it is NOT! Wow, this was just amazing to watch, I would love it if I could learn just the uneven bars and floor, those are my favorites. I think I like the bars from the 70's the best... or maybe the 80's... 2000's? They all look great in different ways!

  • great video! as far as beauty and grace goes the 50s-60s wins. 70s was when they started to get more daring and got more and more difficult from there!

  • Wonderful!

    Very interesting to watch!

  • nice. I love 70s/80s bars. :) we kinda evolved from uneven bars to women's high bar, though :(
