Truly one of the greatest draftsmen who ever lived. If he'd known about the principles of animation that Disney would perfect later on imagine how exponentially incredible animation would have been in his hands.
Then again that's a bit like wondering what Da Vinci could have done in the age of the automobile.
It's amazing to me that this film is 95 YEARS OLD and still incredibly funny. It goes to show that Windsor McKay is one of the pioneers of the art of animation! (He was a political cartoonist who experimented with animation I think). Thank you for posting this little gem for everyone to see and appreciate!!!
Hmmmm...good question. I see what you mean in that it appears the film is reeled backwards then forwards. This is especially noticeable when the man first lies down in the bed.
Its a hard luck life ... dee bee dee :P

That mosquito was creepy and disturbing.
I'm very grateful that it exploded at the end. It didn't deserve to live.

I'm amazed by how volumetric and detailed the drawings are and the smoothness of the animation. Winsor was absolutely awesome.

It's not the film. McKay re-used his drawings, because he liked the effect and because it saved him making a few hundred more drawings.
