  • Gentlest guy in metal. I love him, plus King Crimson lover. :D badass

  • at 11:45 when Dan speaks on watching opeth and Dream theater in 08, I actually met him while he was doing this in the orpheum in vancouver. it's wild to hear him actually talk about this though.

  • That mother fucker didn't even laugh at Dan's Back To The Future reference. I hate him.

  • @MatthewLeisher To be fair, I don't think he's seen it.

  • I say YES to a YES cover

  • Dan Briggs, what a god damn legend

  • I am convince that Dan is the largest contributer of the "prog" technique in terms of arrangements.

  • I fucking hate this interviewer

  • Tour with Said The Whale, that'd be so inappropriate/awesome.

  • I hate when people mix up acronyms BTBAM and BMTH

  • Take one thousand people with completely diferent taste in music, take ideas from all of them and put them in one song and you get BTBAM

  • @galebnikacevic more like Mr. Bungle

  • "Are you.....Mars Volta fans?"

  • The interviewer is fucking awkward.

  • Dan briggs on 60 minutes with some high dude?

  • That's not dan!!!! he's wearing shoes xD

  • this has to be the worst interviewer ever

  • hahah what's wrong with the interviewer, is he high on heroine? lol

  • I think that the interviewer was blind.

  • if dan wasn't part of my 2nd favorite band i would want punch his nerdy face! ;)

  • the guy asking the questions was quite awkward. .

  • Yes song.. How about "The Gates Of Delirium"? That would SLAY.

  • @MyEggIsBoiled Hell yes! As a proghead, Gates of Delirium and Close to the Edge are two of my favorite songs of theirs. I'm unbelievably impressed to see your comment.

  • @chucktheduck64 YES! I was hoping someone would come across this not-so-long-lost-comment! I mean Relayer is my first Yes album, though I've heard various tracks off of various others, but "Gates of Delirium" absolutely blew my mind upon first listen up through now. It's just a progressive gem.

  • @MyEggIsBoiled The song "Roundabout" that Dan mentioned would also be pretty cool. They need to start putting out bonus tracks since it's unlikely that they will do another Anatomy Of.

  • @chucktheduck64 dunno if Tommy would be able to pull off the Rick Wakeman synth riffs. Not saying he's bad, he's actually very good. Just he's not a technical pianist.

  • @cryszofthescots Yeah, I've thought this through a few times and I'm pretty sure every member of the band but Tommy would be able to replicate a song like Close to the Edge. Tommy kind of just creates an atmospheric rhythm feel to his music while Wakeman does that and tons of precise leads. I'm not sure if he could pull off Jon's vocals either. They would be better off playing a song like Roundabout like Dan was suggesting, but that song has a pretty heavy organ solo towards the ending.

  • "There's four people out of the five of us who are very avid composers."

Great, now I'm going to spend the rest of my life wondering who the lazy asshole is.

    ..I bet it's Blake.

  • @davethehostage Funny, because I'm going to bet it's Dustie haha.

  • @davethehostage Haha it is. In an AMA on reddit, Blake said he pretty much just develops his parts off of what the other guys write and rarely writes his own. This is fine with me considering Blake's mad chops. \m/

  • @chucktheduck64 Yeah, that's usually the case with drummers in general. It's difficult to write the foundations of a song when you can't play a guitar or bass.

  • @davethehostage Yep, apparently Blake plays a lot of video games and watches tv every waken hour of the day

  • @davethehostage It's Paul Waggoner, he's the only one who doesn't have any side projects

    The other members are in:

    Dan Briggs - ORBS

    Dustie Warring - Glass Casket

    Blake Richardson - Glass Casket

    Tommy Rogers - Solo project

  • @TheMrRye You're kidding, right? Sarcasm doesn't come across very well on the internet. In the event that you're completely serious - Multiple members of the band have admitted that Paul is the primary songwriter.

  • @davethehostage Dan's talking about EXTERNAL influences in composing. Obviously Paul is a composer, that being said, he's also exclusively in btbam. He's the only one without external influences. Dusty and Blake are in a deathcore band, Dan is in a really proggy band and Tommy has got his own experimental thing. These all contribute indirectly to btbam. Paul is amazing, he just isn't what Dan was talking about.

  • @davethehostage I bet Dusty. Blake is a mad man.

  • I know I'm going to sound like an ass but is the interviewer blind? There really wasn't any eye contact. Sorry I'm a prick for wondering.

  • @tackledclubv2 Yes, he is visually impaired.

  • If the world does end in 2012, they better eave a freaking amazing album to go out with. Just sayin'.

  • I wish there could be an interview like this for each member.

  • Terrific interview.

  • Shit, I would love a BTBAM cover of a Botch song.

  • Haha Dan looks like a real nerd here lol

  • @avvalon666 He is a nerd! :p. But a freaking awesome one at that!

  • Dan you're so amazing!

  • finally a music lover interviewing btbam. i hate these idiots who interview them like "GEeZe uR SongZ aRE toO loNg"

  • Fuck yes Dan

  • HE-RO

  • Great interview.

  • fucking boss.
