chevy is back to the heartbeat of america because now the gov't owns them, i love how ford makes their own diesel now unlike chevy, and then they make a good durable reliable economic motor (ecoboost), then gm just makes their own called the ecotech which we all know will never be what its all hyped up to be. It never is since chevy is gov't owned now.
- GM's no longer owned by the government. If I remember right, GM stock went public sometime late last year.
- ECOtec was out years before EcoBoost existed. It was also in the fastest budget performance compact in the segment, the Cobalt SS. Can EcoBoost claim that? No.
- Ford's PowerChoke--er, PowerStroke, is nothing compared to the GM/Isuzu DuraMax diesel in the Silverado HD. Who won MotorTrend's 2011 Truck of the Year award, again? Exactly.
I love how people on get on these old videos and do nuthing but bitch about todays fucked society. Enjoy good memories, dont bring negative thoughts to a video that was in society in 1987.
did it say 54 city 58 highway? that was twenty yrs ago so why does the toyota pious get such great reviews? that colt or whatever it was doesnt have the enviro efects of the batteries of the pious. what is the mining process for pious batts and what happens to them when they are no good. and dont batteries emit gasses as well? oh yeah the pious gets only 41mpg.
every time i see videos like this, it brings me to my knees in tears beacause back the everybody was driving homeade cars, and everyone loved one another. and then
@corvettekid224 yes well this era has come to a close because Chevy has just announced its axed its relationship with the ad agency Campbell/Ewald who created this slogan and the "Like a Rock" slogan and the "Genuine Chevrolet" slogan. Pathetic.
yeah but too bad stupid people insist on buying japanese garbage and supporting foreign economy's, soon china's going to want to sell us there shitty cars made from lead and mercury as well, and guess what, everyone will buy them.
the heartbeat commercials were alot of fun, and deff a good campaign, but i personaly enjoy the taking charge campaign better... i think its what really helped to get the public hopping up for GM along with pontiacs we build excitment
Wow! 6-years/60K! they use to have a great warranty back then.
And 58 MPG in '87 versus a shitty average 20 MPG today? no wonder everyone hates them. (even owners like me) instead of going forward they are going backwards.
you can thank your govt for requiring that all cars come with 8+ airbags, ABS, traction control, wide tires, A/C, etc. they all weight 3x what they used to
I seen that too!! What a scam the auto industry and oil companies are running on the consumers. The highest today is an estimated 41MPG in a Fusion Hybrid.
you make me laugh. i hope you dont really believe that. i still see ALLOT of older cavaliers still going, yeah they are rusted out but they are that body style was discontinued in '94. i still see corsica's and the occasional Beretta still. i hardly see any cresida's or older camrys. very few imports from that era have survived. you ever see a 80's toyota truck, they rusted probably worse than anything else. pure junk. not to mention one of the most reliable fuel systems ever is GM TBI. no doubt
I had an '88 Cavalier Z24 and it actually had no rust at all. albeit, it blew smoke everywhere (had the 2.8MPFI with a stick), but thats 'cause the previous owner beat the shit out of it but never maintained it. alot of those older GM small cars were sold.. and I'd love to get my hands on a Beretta GTZ right now if I could
lol well the sprint and spectrum were great cars i still see lots on the road today but ya thats funny how there discluded from the 6 year warranty lol
They should still use this, it went over well as I was 5 at the time and it stuck with me for years..Right Now Chevy uses "American Revolution" which is what Dodge was using back in the 80's around this time.
My 88 Beretta was hell. That fucker was always in the shop. Quick car and not too bad on gas, but always breaking down on me. They had Mass Airflow sensor problems in the earlier years. I had the 2.8L MPFI engine.
The paint scheme (I had the Navy Blue) was bad too. I don't know if it was just the blue but I had to have it repainted twice, although the warantee covered the paint jobs. The paint always chipped off both times it was repainted, and the stock color chipped off
this was one of the early years that GM switched over to water-based paint. It was the stuff that peeled off in sheets. But to be fair - every automaker had lousy water-based paint early on.
Ive had a lot of chevys but the caprice was my favorite. It also tore up the least of all of the chevys i owned. The camaros gave me the most problems mechanically.
i owned a Caprice too but i had alot of problems with it then i got my moms 97 malibu and that was a solid lil car till she got totaled thanx to sum asshole but now im rockin in a 03 Impala and aside fromt he sunroof givin me problems that car is "like a rock"
Yes, Crowatnoon, that Chevy Sprint makes an honest to God 50MPG on the open highway. Why? It was made by Suzuki, and has a 1.0 liter motor, 5 speed tranny, and 1,600 pound curb weight. Quite the penalty box, but at least it's really like a rock, unlike Malaise chevys.
They should go back to "THE HEARTBEAT OF AMERICA." theme when GM brings back the 2009 Camaro with the Don LaFontainr voice. Because I am getting tried of car makers like Nissan, Toyota and Honda trying to get us to buy there jap crap. "I think the theme for 2009 should say "THE HEARTBEAT OF AMERICA IS BACK AND THIS IS TODAY'S CHEVROLET...!!!")
anybody else see the new for 1993 camaro at 0:08 only took six years to get that one out

Gas mileage numbers in the 80's were totally B.S.
They are lower now because the government forced them to make them more realistic.

southdallas you are so wrong. The E.P.A is a goverment orginization it computes the fuel mileage problem is it it dosen't know what it's doing.
