I was fortunate to have taught some excellent students in the Headland Highlander band for two years. Good memories of a highly respected high school .
Oh no anger, Mr. Mercedes! The buildings did have their problems. When I went there, none of the classrooms were air conditioned. There was no elevator. The old type of ceiling tiles would sometimes fall down during class. Thankfully, most of that problem was solved by the time I was a senior! By the time the buildings were near the end, there were some difficult problems with plumbing and heating systems, according to someone who worked there. Anyway, chill request accepted! L8r - KJF
@mercedes14179 - One thing for sure, the 1956 Headland / Paul D. West buildings were unique. I've never seen another school quite like it. When you think about other schools that were around before that one, they were pretty plain compared to the 1956 buildings. It's still weird to go down Headland Drive and not see the old school. I hope I can visit inside the new school someday.
