Watching the ride from home on youtube doesn't scare me. It gives me this urge to go tomorrow. But when I went (last month) when I saw this ride go up and backward it gave me a headache just watching it. I really can't imagine myself in this ride. I'll be surprised if I do on my next visit. >.<

Ok, but to answer your question for real, this roller coaster or any roller coaster that doesn't have a complete track, having the cart go backwards is called a shuttle or boomerang roller coaster. Just like the "Boomerang" corkscrew roller coaster in Roller Coaster Tycoon. ;)

I am still wondering how they are going to have people cope with the acceleration backwards and not having anything to brace yourself against. to bad this ride hasen't gone upto 100MPH in about 10 years now. I remember riding it in 1999 and it gave you a much deeper feeling during the fall. I remember reading somewhere they only run it at 75MPH.

The ride will be closed until Spring 2011, in which a sign posted in front of the ride indicates that "something BIG is happening". One of the sides will be re-named "Bizzaro" and feature a backwards running car. Both will run at the same time, at full speed (rumored to be above 100 mph).

I went there on tusday of the last week of june.. me and my dad's girlfriend went on it without waiting in a line at all. This ride is over a decade old now and is getting closed down for upgrades on july 4th 2010. At least thats what one of the staff members said, they already took down superpman from the top.
