@TheGunnerMoose It's been ages since I played MH. But if I'm not mistaken, normal rathians' weakness = head. The weapon will bounce if you attempt to whack the wings.

@ShimmerArc great guide! personally i've got problems with trying to break the head because its very resistent to damage... to increase ruby chances, I mean =P. yeah, I'm a greedy bastard, I know =D

now, one question. Have you ever notice non-rage movements of rathian somehow slow down a little when she is very weak? say, when you may capture her?

@Revanchist2 I farmed Black Diablos for the HGE, RA+2 and Sharpness+1 set. Works really well with a hammer. Then I did the other prerequisite quests before tackling Ukanlos. =)

Shimmer! Tip: I noticed you didn't have this there but Rathalos and Rathian's armpits (or where the wing connects to the body) are also a wing hitzone. This is how Lances are able to hit the wings, even if it's a big size.

When Silver Rathalos flies and lands, you could position yourself at an angle where you hit this very spot. Just as good as GSLv3 on the head of Regular/Azure. No need to guess when the wings flaps down.

Well, for hammers it's more practical to just go for the head since the difference in damage (impact weapons) between the wings and the head is minimal. But it's significant in cutting weapons. :D So... you are, in a way, correct too. ^_^
