His voice was damaged during WWI; supposedly due to mustard gas, and that's why he adopted a more "whispered" approach to his singing style. Sadly, Whispering Jack, died from a heat attack, at the age of 51, on May 13, 1950.
in my sisters dance recital there were lil kids dancing to this in purple tutus that looked like purple cupcakesand purple tuxedos... IT WAS SO CUTE!!!!!
in my dance recital the lil girls and boys danced to this they had purple tuts that made them look like big purple cupcakes it was so cute. and the little boys had purple tuxedos on. IT WAS AWESOME!!!

Jack was buried in a still unmarked grave,,His mother is buried next to him, family name is Schmitt..

FABULOUS - My Nannie used to sing this to me, and even though I'm mearly 60 and she would be 100 I can remember it like it were yes'day.
I used to sing it my my daughter and I know sing it to my Grandson.
