  • great job! i realey like your transfer swich, i think i will build my own for my genarator i got fo christmas (my family thinks im crazy because im 13 and i got a genarator for christmas

  • um, not for me to burst your bubble(i'm 15 and my fathers a master electrician) but you are not supposed to (according to my father) share the same neutral with items. but i have to say, great job on the set-up, i have something similar to that. but i used a relay. so it's normally closed, an the relay turns on using grid power., then when the power goes out, the inverter turns on, and on comes the power. i have it on my alarm clock.(so if the power goes out, i'm not late for school)

  • A bit complicated. Have you looked at the Interlock Kit (google it) instead of the transfer switch. Much cheaper (about $150) and meets code. you could have done this work in 1 hour (maybe not as much fun!) Like the inverter stuff. Where did you get the big inverter?

  • @Learnthethingsido ...Really?

@woww1994 Nice job on the home-build electrical work. I love when I see other kids (Im 13) doing electrical wiring and building.

When Hurricane Irene hit me and my family I convinced them to go and buy a deep cycle battery. We used that with a 400 watt inverter to power our mini-fridge!

I also had two batterys like yours (2 7Ah 12v batterys in parallel) in my possession and I used them to charge small electronics.

Tell me if you do something like this again!

  • God kit hit Puberty already shit man! You sound like Shaggy from Scooby doo!

  • Great idea, cheap & simplistic, perfect for smaller system, but I need a 50A 3-way manual for a large motorhome, w/generator & 3500w inverter. Aims makes a fancy auto digital 3 way 30A unit, but I wanted to avoid a complex electronic system & stay simple, but a 50A 3-way manual would even be complex when one figures all the larger components that would be needed. Lots of food for thought here however, one COULD split the microwave ckt off, and have other smaller dedicated ckts like this....hummm

  • Hey that's cool can you email me a diagram of the wiring I would love to do something like that with my students as a project.

  • @atelfor1 i dont have a diagram but i can make a new video showing what goes to what Thanks!

  • Awesome setup you got there, keep up the good ideas and thanks for the info.

  • @white2eagle thanks yup im planning to be an electrician and since that new google think i cant use this account anymore so i got a woww1993 account and im going to upload vids like this soon to it
