ok, here's a question. Which fight song is older. "Down the Field" or "Fight Vols Fight" ? anyone? anyone? Is the last song played in the video "Down the Field"?
I want to say "Fight Vols Fight" came first, but I'm not positive. I do know that "March on Mighty Vols" was also one of the fight songs, but that one is not played anymore. The last song on this video is "Spirit of the Hill". It is the oldest tradition of the band dating back over 100 years.
It's called Spirit of the Hill, have no idea what it's derived from (if it is taken from one of the two you mentioned) Someone with more knowledge on it care to answer?
I believe it was an orginal piece followed by elvis' CC Ryder, followed by chattanooga choo-choo, followed by will the circle be unbroken, followed by Rocky top. And ended with an original piece.
Thanks for video taping it, since I am not from Knoxville and not able to be at the game, I am now able to watch my son marched the circle drill. Appreciate it. Go Vols!
You're right. In fact, it's so small they had to do some creative drill writing and mess with the geometry of the circle drill a little. It took me a while, but I came up with 168 winds. The final sunburst array is composed of alternating lines of 10 and 11, in 16 total lines, for a total of 168. It should be 12 in each of the 16 lines for a total of 192.
I am an Ohio State man and I love the Buckeye band script OHIO, but this is AWESOME !!!!
