It's aim wasn't to place the blaim on a certain group, per say, but to raise awareness that there was a conspiracy and a cover up planned by those with high power in this country. I think they missed a crucial point. It's more probable Clay Shaw had ties with private armies (a predecessor to Black Water) assisting revolutions in Cuba. I personally think this was just an armed group, like Midwestern Militias, who didn't agree with Kennedy (Shaw may have just been funding them or something like that)

Pictures were also found after the trial of Clay Shaw / Bertrand and David Ferrie. Had this been available during the trial he most likely would have been guilty

Something weird- the description given of the perp on the policeman shooting was different than what went out on the troop radio. The description that was aired was the exact same weight and height and eye color as was in Oswald's existing FBI and CIA package. Just another clue.

As for evidence go to p320-327 of Karnow's "Vietnam" and p122-129 of Herring's "America's Longest War". There was a definite blind eye to Diem's murder. I would not have had "a grin from ear to ear" on 22 November 1963 as you smear. I don't know about the conduct of the war but most historians have said that the beginning and conduct would have been the same.

@JordoSummach Actually the weapon that he suposedly used was a bolt action Italian Carcano. Oswalt was also a Marine before he defected to Russia. As a Marine he was trained in riflery and qualified as a sharpshooter(which is a middle rank for weapons qualification).

@JordoSummach Not really, as I said before Oswalt qualified as a Marine sharpshooter. You have to score between 280-304 out of 350 points in 50 shots to get that qualification. As for the rifle that he used I assume that it was in good condition. The only defects I've found in my research were some scrapeson the sight. When the FBI Firearms experts tested the rifle, they found it to be very accurate. Although I think they had some problems sighting the scope because of missing components.

A person being shot in the head will fall with the direction of the bullet, standard physics. If it was a small .22 caliber bullet, then maybe I could believe he went back and to the left from muscle spasms. Anything bigger will have more than enough kinetic energy to override muscle spasms.
Kennedy had no exit wound in the back of his head or neck. Just a big hole in the front of of his head, which it sounds like you know your ballistics, would be very indicative of a rear shot. The bit of skull Kennedy lost was in the rear of his head, meaning the shot had to come from in front. Almost all exit wounds are larger than the entrance ones since the bullets tend to fragment or lose their shape from the initial hit. That means Oswald could not have delivered the final and fatal shot since he was in the building behind Kennedy.

I commented on this awhile ago. You are right, the added music completely wrecks the scene. It's overkill. Costner's words and delivery are so powerful that they needed no musical assistance. That's why Stone had no music when he was speaking those words. I'm still glad to see that someone loves the film enough to post this scene though. Just wish he didn't tack on that unnecessary music though.

Kevin's performance is superbly done. He was cheated on the awards end...as usual. A lot of people making statements here forget what a horrible occasion this was for America. No matter who did what, it is tragic. A good guy was wiped out that day and his family devastated. I've always believed Nixon had a hand in this and Bobby's deaths too. It was only 88 yards. Oswald was a good shooter according to the Marines. I've killed deer moving faster than 11 mph moving perpendicular to me from a lot farther away, and I'm not a very good shot. This would have been fairly easy for a trained Marine.

Oliver Stone has on-ground combat experience in Vietnam. He may be a bit "out there" at times but as far as I'm concerned, the fact he actually toted a machine gun in Vietnam gives him the right to explore the underbelly of this issue, and lends gravitas to his work.

Despite what the film shows, Garrison was actually not in the courtroom at all during the final day and announcement of the verdict. Upon being told in his office, he flew into a rage.
Still, the film does make you think about what people are fed to believe and what actually goes on.

But although he lost this case in no time Garrison had the nerve to attempt to do the impossible. Great speech. Pity that Stone had to give it to Garrison, who had abandoned this case long before it ever got to a verdict. He wasn't even in court to make a final summation. Still, an effective piece of filmmaking.
Kennedy was a staunch anti communist. In fact he was elected in part because he out did Nixon with his anti-communist rants. He accused them of losing Cuba. There is no way that Kennedy was about to lose Vietnam. And there is no evidence, absolutely none, that suggestion that he wanted no part in that region.

I wouldn't say this movie is one continuous lie. Many of the assertions are mere speculation. But there are a few bold, and really intentionally duplicituous lies here. The biggest one is MR. X's assertion that JFK wanted to pull out of Vietnam, that he didn't want any part in that conflict. This is an out and out lie. Kennedy never made any statements publicly or privately to support this. Even liberal sacred cows like Noam Chomsky have publically stiacte that this is a lie.
OK, Stone's movie is full of lies, but JFK DID want to pull troops out of Vietnam. He had an executive order drafted in October of 1963 (a month or so before he was killed) to begin a phased withdrawal of Vietnam- a decision the Vice President Johnson STRONGLY opposed (maybe to the point of violence) and reversed once in office.
Samp is right he also had plans on unifying the NASA space program with the Soviet Space program; the Soviets were impressed with his handling of the Cuban Missile Crisis and these 2 nails were what sealed his death. There is much to every story that is untold to the public my friend.

I think they missed a crucial point. It's more probable Clay Shaw had ties with private armies (a predecessor to Black Water) assisting revolutions in Cuba. I personally think this was just an armed group, like Midwestern Militias, who didn't agree with Kennedy (Shaw may have just been funding them or something like that)

As for evidence go to p320-327 of Karnow's "Vietnam" and p122-129 of Herring's "America's Longest War". There was a definite blind eye to Diem's murder. I would not have had "a grin from ear to ear" on 22 November 1963 as you smear. I don't know about the conduct of the war but most historians have said that the beginning and conduct would have been the same.

@JordoSummach Actually the weapon that he suposedly used was a bolt action Italian Carcano. Oswalt was also a Marine before he defected to Russia. As a Marine he was trained in riflery and qualified as a sharpshooter(which is a middle rank for weapons qualification).

@JordoSummach Not really, as I said before Oswalt qualified as a Marine sharpshooter. You have to score between 280-304 out of 350 points in 50 shots to get that qualification. As for the rifle that he used I assume that it was in good condition. The only defects I've found in my research were some scrapeson the sight. When the FBI Firearms experts tested the rifle, they found it to be very accurate. Although I think they had some problems sighting the scope because of missing components.

A few facts...The real-life Jim Garrison never said this...the real life Jim Garrison was not even in the court room when the verdict was read...the star-witness of the real-life Garrison trial, Perry Russo, doesn't have a character in this film (he failed ALL THREE lie detector tests given him.)

He could not naturally bend or double over. If the kill shot came from the back, the body would have jerked FORWARD from the force of the blow and then would have fallen back to the sitting position he was in. The fatal shot came from the RIGHT which forced his dead body to jerk LEFT and being dead gave over to gravity.

Kennedy had no exit wound in the back of his head or neck. Just a big hole in the front of of his head, which it sounds like you know your ballistics, would be very indicative of a rear shot. The bit of skull Kennedy lost was in the rear of his head, meaning the shot had to come from in front. Almost all exit wounds are larger than the entrance ones since the bullets tend to fragment or lose their shape from the initial hit. That means Oswald could not have delivered the final and fatal shot since he was in the building behind Kennedy.
It was not the mob or the Jews fault, the Pope did it somehow. :P

1) A careful viewing of the Zapruder film shows his head going slighly forward before it goes 'back and to the left'. 2)Which 'back and to the left' do you mean? The one where the 4th shot hits his throat from the front or the kill shot....oh, wait...you only use 'back and to the left' when you think it supports your theory. Sorry, you lose. Any ballistic expert will tell you that bodies do not always fall directly away from the projectile that hits them.

Nothing wrong with speculation, Fire, but early in this thread words like "truth" and "explain" were used. Endless speculation that flies in the face of all the evidence "explains" nothing and gets us no closer to the t"ruth".
It's been almost fifty years since witnesses saw Oswald shoot from the sixth floor and the two men on the floor below him heard the bolt action, heard the shots and the cartridges hit the floor...and still people still "speculate" that no shots came from there. Nuts!!

Read the established facts of the case and then your thinking will change. No reasonable person can come to any other conclusion that no other person was involved execpt Oswald. Oswald was your average nut job that happened to have a job that placed him above the disclosed parade route of the President of the United States. I commented on this awhile ago. You are right, the added music completely wrecks the scene. It's overkill. Costner's words and delivery are so powerful that they needed no musical assistance. That's why Stone had no music when he was speaking those words. I'm still glad to see that someone loves the film enough to post this scene though. Just wish he didn't tack on that unnecessary music though.

Because the movie isn't based on facts. It's Hollywood entertainment. I'm not entirely convinced that Oswald acted alone, however I wish Oliver Stone did a conspiracy movie that was based on the facts and what we know to be true. He could have put that all together and made a movie with credibility.

Kevin's performance is superbly done. He was cheated on the awards end...as usual. A lot of people making statements here forget what a horrible occasion this was for America. No matter who did what, it is tragic. A good guy was wiped out that day and his family devastated. I've always believed Nixon had a hand in this and Bobby's deaths too. He lost to JFK and he knew he would lose to RFK as well. I believe the conspiracy. Excellent film all in all.

It was only 88 yards. Oswald was a good shooter according to the Marines. I've killed deer moving faster than 11 mph moving perpendicular to me from a lot farther away, and I'm not a very good shot. This would have been fairly easy for a trained Marine.

Oliver Stone has on-ground combat experience in Vietnam. He may be a bit "out there" at times but as far as I'm concerned, the fact he actually toted a machine gun in Vietnam gives him the right to explore the underbelly of this issue, and lends gravitas to his work.

Conspiracy theorist nonsense! My father says that most people in New Orleans at the time of this trial thought Garrison was a total kook! And the premise that Kennedy would have ended our involvement in Vietnam is dubious at best. The vast majority of the people who have done actual research on this subject will tell you that the evidence points to Oswald. The fact that the jury acquitted Clay Shaw in less than an hour tells you how strong Garrison's "case" really was.

Operation Mongoose and the plot to overthrow Castro was a massively funded and well researched plan that had a great deal of stake involved. Oswald was actively engaged in this operation. JFK DID sign an executive order reversing our policy in Vietnam. Please check your facts in your local library before spewing ignorant nonsense.

Despite what the film shows, Garrison was actually not in the courtroom at all during the final day and announcement of the verdict. Upon being told in his office, he flew into a rage.
Still, the film does make you think about what people are fed to believe and what actually goes on.

Garrison was so right on so many fronts. I don't believe the Warren Commission's lies and coverups. Our government is capbable of doing anything especially with the crooked J.Edgar Hoover in charge who knew about all the threats against Kennedy's life and did nothing.

A jury, that Jim Garrison selected, came back in less than an hour with a not guilty verdict. Afterwards, some jury members stated that they would have come in sooner but some had to use the bathroom.
Garrison was a fact molester of the highest order, and his jury of peers proved it.

Where does it say that this is a TRUE story? A director has the privelege of making a movie based on his way of seeing things. And although this speech did not happen the way it is in the movie; it still has a lot of facts in it. That means, if you are able to do some thinking of your own and have a brief look at politicians and how the system is run even today. Hey Chico you're so right but this movie just reminds us never to forget what happened that day in Dallas, we'll never learn the truth with so many people gone, such as Jack Ruby who could have solved this mystery once and for all. But although he lost this case in no time Garrison had the nerve to attempt to do the impossible. Many facts have been altered for the movie but there's a lot of points he made us think about and we'll never ever know the truth. Oswald was guilty but he was not alone!

Yes this was Kevin Costner at his best. I own the movie and I only watch part II, it's very long. Costner in his closing speech is pure Oscar all the way. The way he breaks and the way he has to wipe away those tears is just awesome!!

Great speech. Pity that Stone had to give it to Garrison, who had abandoned this case long before it ever got to a verdict. He wasn't even in court to make a final summation. Still, an effective piece of filmmaking.

Kennedy was a staunch anti communist. In fact he was elected in part because he out did Nixon with his anti-communist rants. He accused them of losing Cuba. There is no way that Kennedy was about to lose Vietnam. And there is no evidence, absolutely none, that suggestion that he wanted no part in that region.

Wow, all I can say is wow. Kevin Costner defines the word acting. This is definitely the movie that will bring him back to greatness. He is WAY better than any one else out there, he just doesn't know it. I'd hate to be any other actor when Kevin is on his game!He will put a lot of people out of work after this GREAT movie. The comeback kid strikes again! This is definitely his best work since Waterworld. This movie makes me like children like Bodyguard made me like black people

I wouldn't say this movie is one continuous lie. Many of the assertions are mere speculation. But there are a few bold, and really intentionally duplicituous lies here. The biggest one is MR. X's assertion that JFK wanted to pull out of Vietnam, that he didn't want any part in that conflict. This is an out and out lie. Kennedy never made any statements publicly or privately to support this. Even liberal sacred cows like Noam Chomsky have publically stiacte that this is a lie.

OK, Stone's movie is full of lies, but JFK DID want to pull troops out of Vietnam. He had an executive order drafted in October of 1963 (a month or so before he was killed) to begin a phased withdrawal of Vietnam- a decision the Vice President Johnson STRONGLY opposed (maybe to the point of violence) and reversed once in office.
