  • young & black the man with the golden voice

  • We need more video's like this, and more on educating people on the reason HBCU'S started in the first place, and why they are still relevant today. I also think that we as black people can do more to support the school's at least by attending some games, and wearing your favorites school's apparel, even if you didn't go to the school. I see plenty of people wearing alabama, tenn, georgia, florida, lsu, duke, michigan, clothes and I know that they didn't attend those schools.

  • Nice job . Much work still needs to be done and should begin in high school to encourage black students to attend colleges and universities. The academic support required in non-HBCUs is evident in the statistics; the attrition rate remains the same and few black student, particularly males, receive degrees.

  • im gona make a white collage

  • @htkendall There isn't a 'black college' so what's the point? These colleges are 'historically black' colleges. They were made for blacks who weren't allowed to attend 'white colleges' during the past. HBCUs do not deny non black applicants.

  • @HybridD91 let we shorten up what you just said...... these are black colleges.

  • @htkendall

    Learn How To Spell First.

  • @JanetFanForever first? before what? and tell hp to learn how to spell my computer is doing the work dick head.

  • @htkendall

YOU Said You're Gonna Make A "White College".

Before THAT, Learn How To Fxxking Spell "Dickhead".

  • I think its economics too,im from bama,& 1 thing i can say is white people support the schools they luv.BAMA or AUB,even when they play nobody hot their house is packed! We have 2 do tha same, attend games, all that revenue adds up.It will fall n 2 place,i go 2 as many as i can, when i can. These SCHOOLS R SPART OF WHO WE R,IF THEY DIE,ITS OUR FAULT!Not 2 sayin lets compete with'em,lets support our own like we do everybody else!JUST 1 OPTION.

  • Wow...I cannot believe the negative comments. Do you really think that the administration wants to offer the students a LESSOR QUALITY of books? Do you really think that they haven't asked for the funding? Give the teachers and administration a break. Respect them. All your doing is deterring many black kids from attending your schools. You should have pointed out all the good qualities.

  • DONT FORGET THE HISTORIC TOUGALOO COLLEGE!!!

  • man i thought this only happened at Lane college in 07

  • Go to planned parenthood racism, eugenics, exposed on youtube.

  • The professors were also a mixed bag. Some were absolutely brilliant and others had no business standing at the head of a classroom. The resources in my department (TV Production) were meager.

Despite all this, I did make some good friends and had some very fun times. Would I do it again? Maybe. I'm starting graduate school in the fall at a traditional institution. The HBCU experience was okay, but I'm ready for a bit more diversity.

  • I went to an HBCU for undergrad. It was a mixed experience. The administration was totally incompetent and inept. Financial aid/ Registrar/ Bursar/ Housing were all horribly run and resulted in many long lines and angry students at the beginning of each semester. We had a debacle one year where the housing office promised more students housing than there was room for, which resulted in students having to be housed at nearby hotels and in lounges in the dorms.

  • I Loved my HBCU, wouldnt change it!

But administration is the key reason for it decline and problems. from Customer service, FINANCIAL AID****, admissions, housing, among others is a problem at most HBCUs and also some PWIs from what i hear.

    good HBCU Reasons:

    -"Reconnect with history"

    -"be the majority for once"

    -"get a 1st rate education"

-faculty with same background and understanding; look on life, struggle

  • Every school has it's flaws. From the top 10 in AAmerica to the Community colleges.

  • victormyers1 is a professional troll.

  • Well, I find that hurmourous in an ironic sense.

  • I hate the sax overture. Makes me wanna flip the hell out.

  • i guess some people feel a nostalgia for segregation and separatism.

  • Black people are so beautiful and Black educated people are even more beautiful.

  • The only monkey on here is you! Why are you on here anyways? By the way you want black people to go back to Afirca right?....the only person you should blame are the white people who brought Africans over here. Your racistand stupid!

  • 88koonsback2africa88? cummon...he's obviously a nut

  • True! IDK why I even responsed to him/her? It just make me mad when people see black people trying to do something positive like going to college then they come with racism. It's sad. He didn't even responsed back..he knows he wrong!

  • Ok...administration is a problem at HBCU's. We have to do better.

    AGGIE PRIDE!!!

  • Morehouse College c/o 99

I thank God for my opportunity.

  • Hey 19770326, I met a guy named Brandon Smith years ago. He graduated from Morehouse in '99. I think he was from Detroit, MI. I have since lost contact with him. I was just wondering if you knew him. Please respond.

  • I do not know him but I have the directory. I will check tomorrow. Hit me back to remind me.

  • Hey Cool 19770326, do that for me. Like I said before, I would really love to hear from him again. I really do appreciate this.

  • You got it. forgot to do it yesteraday, but will do it tonight. Im sure he is in the directory. Where is he from

  • Never mind, I see u put Detroit, MI

  • Hey Q, did you forget about me?

  • Hey, did you ever find that information? I really would like to know. Hit me back.

  • i have it. but i dont know if youtube will allo me to put personal stuff up. myspace-quincy paden

  • Thanks and I'll pay your myspace page a visit real soon.

  • As a graduate of one of the elite HBCU's: Southern University A&M College, I can say that attending and HBCU has done nothing but good for my life. I have seen lots of young men that came in "rough", and left distinguished young men ready to take on the world. I have also had amazing opportunities and I wouldn't trade my experience for anything!!

  • Can I get a copy for my website

  • Sure; just shoot me an email through the YouTube email - otherwise, you can embed it on your site using the YouTube embed code on this page.

  • Great Video. I would love to have it posted to my website

  • Great video..Where can I get a copy/download.

  • Great vid. I know when I was applying to college, I considered an HBCU. I had both negative and positive responses. Unfortunately, the negative opinions got the best of me. I think HBCU's need a greater outlet to educate the public about their values, issues, and etc. By seeing the students who attend and have attended these schools, any stereotypes about HBCU's can be dispelled and we can see the insitutions for what they really are, while being educated about their needs.

  • Morris Brown is not closed. Students are still taught there. The school is much smaller going from 2,000 students to a low 72 but the school continues to push forward seeking accreditation and will apply. Go to the website and support. Last Saturday they had the First Annual Scholarship Walk-A-Thon and will have yearly. Support your own!

  • While I normally wouldn't post on my own video, I find it strange that someone would attack HBCU graduates in a way that is unproductive as referencing someone's spelling. I'm not saying everyone should be a big supporter of HBCUs, I'm just saying that if you want to discuss the merits of the schools than discuss it in a productive manner that addresses the actual issue.

  • You really need to mature a little more, I am very proud of HBCU's I think we accomplished a lot to be freed slaves and to have accomplished this much. I would recommand you to keep buying your way through school and life you pig!!!!!!!!! Oh yeah our former slave ancestors FUCKed the shit out of family ancestors because our dicks are BIG!!!! LOL!!!

  • Ok, first, you were never a slave. Second he is right. Even with lower standards howard still has a 50% grad rate. Think about it.

  • First things first. HBCU's were made to educated former slaves who were not allowed education. You much not know about the alumni of HBCU'S. As an HBCU graduate (Howard class of 2003) I can tell you that we speak very well, and do very well when we leave school.

  • *must not know about the alumni of HBCU's. I understand that a lot of Black student just does not want to come to an HBCU, but the ones who do falls in love with their school.

  • Oh my gosh....

  • Good video. Very honest, although I'm not sure I want everyone to know the negative sides of HBCUs. But needless to say I attended Alabama State University and I feel a great pride for my choice. It was one of the best decisions I've made. When I say your professors I care, I mean it. To the point that when I missed class it was notice. You dont get that at major universities.

  • I love my hbcu!

Spelman ladiess looked gorgeous as always!

  • yes we do...

  • I went to Da House! HBCU's rock!

And that guy is lying about the library. I graduated from Morehouse this year in 2007, and Woodruff has books even before they hit publication.

As for the refund checks, they "take so many weeks" because you didn't take your but into office to pick it up. Refunds are processed every week and if you don't doing anything, they give up and mail them to you.

  • A Networking Site for the HBCU community !!!

  • 7:07 Thats A&T February 1.

  • I hope they come back like they say they are......I wanna go there.

  • Great video!

  • I attend Alabama A&M University, and what the 2 guys said in this video is true, but every HBCU has their flaws Anyways this was a very nice video

  • yeah I was mad as hell when we lost accreditation. We finished the second semester in 9 weeks we had to go to school Monday thru Saturday just to make sure the credits we got that year transferred. I miss Mo B.

  • Excellent video
