hi i had a question i was going to make a terrain board wor axis and allies and was wondering how well plaster of parris would work i think it would be great.its strong, its easily carvable and it is inexpensive i was gonna do a 7' by 3.5' watcha think ? would it react well to everything and what [paints you think would work good thanks man ! :)
@halochief777 I would avoid plaster of paris at all costs. For a gypsum cemement (what is basically is), its very low strength and will chip easily and will likely flake of the surface its applied to. Painting it however shouldn't be a problem. I would use materials designed for strengthening foam such as Foam Coat by the Hot Wire Foam Factory. I have been doing review videos of their products and I recommend them highly. Its what I coat all my modular boards with.
That would run around $220 or so. (~$45/plain board and ~$60/hill board plus a pinch for the extra large size) Don't forget you can visit the TerranScapes website for pricing on other custom work projects completed in the past.
You're Damn good at what you do Bro. A true talent in the world of terrain building. All of the rocks and cliffs look about as natural as you can get...The larger rock on your Rock outcrop square reminded me of the lion king movie's "Pride Rock"..
Have some ideas I've been kicking around, but you're miles ahead.. Like to talk to you about a 4 x 8 or larger I'm developing ideas for..
Nice stuff, the rocks in the water added quite a lot of needed detail. I think the water is TO blue, which I'm sure could be tweaked via some paints or inks, regardless its super quality work. Keep at it!
The color is idealized and is easily modified. If you visit TerranScapes' website, in the custom gallery you will some variations of water color to represent a more muddy river for instance.

How much approx would it cost to get 2 plain boards 24x24 and 2 hill boards (like the ones with a cliff face) 24x24?
