That's what battlefield 2 does. It's like the other battlefield games, however in bf2 there is a commander that well, commands squads and tells them where to go. He can also call in artillery strikes, UAVs, support, etc.

The West feared a growing USSR who had previously battled to expand it's "revolution" (remember Polland after the Civl War).
