I didn't quit cold turkey (used the gum), but I think in hindsight, cold turkey may have been the better tack. In any case, I haven't smoked in 5 or 6 years and if I can give anyone advice it would be this: do not cheat. Don't dwell on your last cigarette, but make sure it is your last one. Take the pain. Don't cheat. Ever --- regardless of the circumstances, do not smoke again. It isn't worth it; it will never be worth it. Good luck; it gets much, much easier with time.
i've tried to quit smoking atleast over 100 times(that's no exageration). I'm gonna try to quit again tomorrow. i need to just tell myself not to smoke no matter what.
Everything after starts to get easier but the cravings for cigarettes almost get stronger, you kind of forget why you really want to quit. Just keep telling yourself why you quit think of the day before you quit and how terrible your body felt.
Always Quit cold turkey too.
And id say the hardest days are, well for me well was day 35 but id say between 25-35 Are the hardest, mainly because your starting to get and feel better and you constantly think you can just have a cigarette and itll be fine

I quit 19 days ago. On the 16th day I had a stressful moment and went out to try bury it in beer but ended up smoking 3. Went through cold turkey again the very next day and lasted 72 hours then had another very stressful moment and went and bought a pack and 48 hours later I have smoked 5 packs. Now I am listening to his mp3 course for first time and will start again tomorrow. I am scared this time as that will be three cold turkeys in one month.
I watched this video last night (while smoking) and as I drew my last puff, I decided it would be my last. 24 hours in, and I feel amazing. I was a bit irritable this morning, but now I just feel energized. I can breathe more easily and actually feel like going for a run - something I haven't felt like doing in since I started smoking!
i followed this method just the same but i did it on my own. i wasn't heavilly addicted, smoking a year and a half and cigs just went up to 8 dollars a pack. I decided after 1 day getting 2 packs that this will be the last 2 packs i ever buy. i stuck to my word but occasionally i'd have a cig cuz friends would offer. for 3 years i did this but one day i happened to chain smoke 2 just for the hell of it and i got heart palpitations. last time i smoked a cig. 2 years clean cept blunts
His method is awesome, it washes your brain back in the right direction and kinda wakes you up.

I was TOO sure that i couldn't get in the trap again and smoked one single cigarette after 3 years. NEVER DO THAT, OR IT WILL GET YOU AGAIN!
I stopped smoking immediatly after reading his book. It was not too hard, and i stayed away from cigarettes for more than three years, without any cravings or whatsoever. I wasn't even dreaming about starting to smoke again.
Then, last year, i smoked a cigarette after a party, and that was a FATAL ERROR.
@blagalabla then dont smoke cigarettes. save your lungs atleast. get some quality cigar once in a while... you know? You propably enjoy icecream too but don't eat it all the time - you get me?
Listened to Allens audio book over the last few weeks and stopped easily. Its the way the book helps you to see very clearly that having no more cigarettes is the best decision you will ever make, and having the confidence and smugness to stick by that decision.
I've just finished chapter 23 of the book,it's good so far but I somehow still feel anxious about finishing the book. One thing it has done is change my perception of smoking.
I’ll never forget the date I finally quitted smoking for good after having read the book «Allen Carr’s Easy Way to Stop smoking» because it was on the 9th day of the 9th month of 2009 (3 days after I quit I realized the coincidence of the date numbers : 9-9-09, to my amazement). I never was able to quit before that, and I did not find it hard to do so, this after having smoked for 37 years.
I would like to thank my kid sister Michelle for giving me the book in 2009.
@Kode253 YES!!! Get the book (Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking). I quitted easily after having read it 2 years ago. The book costs less than 3 packs of smokes, where I come from anyway (it must be around $11 canadian now for 1 pack). God I'm so glad I quit.
VERY IMPORTANT: When you quit smoking make sure you eat plenty of garlic bread and pumpkin seeds. Nicotine has been helping your body fight off parasites. You may feel bloated, gaseous, sick, and have other parasitic problems. Stay away from sugars and eat more veggies. The pumpkin seeds are also one of natures BEST anti depressants. Take care!
bollocks he probably never smoked,,i used to smoke 50 yes 50 fags a day i quit and i have found it very hard everyday but i done it i am thinking of putting a video together to show how hard it is to do it.
ALSO: once you've quit for awhile cigarettes smell HORRIBLE. for real, before i quit i thought non smokers were just whining, but yo it smells LIKE RACID PUKEFILLED ASSHOLE.
ALSO: i feel super smug and awesome around all my smoking friends, cause i quit and they didnt and it make me feel better as a person in general. THEY DONT TELL YOU THAT IN THE QUITSMOKING LITERATURE BUT THEY SHOULD ITS GREAT TRY IT.
I was gonna hate, but the first thing he says about seeing clearly that smoking sucks is how i came to see it too. a pack a day for a year for 8 years at $3 a pack average was like $8800 that could have gone to something awsome. Also, before i starting smoking at 18 i never thought "i need a smoke". I just lost the desire to smoke completely, but i def had withdrawls. had sexy dreams about smoking for months. heres a tip: if you quit dont reward yourself for not smoking by smoking.
deep breaths and drink juice for the 2 weeks because your cravings can just be low blood sugar.
What he leaves out is that you get endorphines when you smoke and that is why you smoke. When you quit you don't get the endorphines like that. So that is why you think about the positive reasons why. "Woopi I am smoke free" endorphine release. Smoking also does increase blood sugar so you need to drink juice when you quit so your blood sugar wont drop
While He suggests some great Ideas It Amazes me that he never quit using this method. If you have read his book ...The Easy way to quit smoking ... He went to a hypnotist ... and quit .....suggesting that the Subconscious was reprogrammed regarding smoking by the hypnotist
i gave up smoking "3 + a half years ago",having been a very heavy chain smoker for 25-years! im so glad i did it,i feel so much better! as time goes on,the cravings get less + less, + it gets easier, the first 3-months is the hardest, but if you can overcome this with "nrt + positive thinking-you will triumph. good wishes.
Last night had my last cigarette after so many years of addiction...I quit 'cold turkey' passing through a hard time now despite I am totally prepared mentally for it...tried so many times to quit always had an excuse to go back to it, but now really hope it is the end!
@1vnman Hey thanks bro. Almost a week I have quit smoking, was used to have 6-8 cigarettes a day. yesterday i made a mistake and had a few cigarettes with a friend at a party. Somehow I think was good for me, I felt very awkward smoking again, didn't enjoy it at all...I just experience something I was so used to do in a no smoker point of view. I am starting to totally hate cigarettes what I think is a positive sign. How is yours going??? Keep it up strong my friend kind regards from England!
@leomatosuk Thanks, yes I haven't smoked since and will never smoke again,I feel so much better,7 days today since I last smoked,be carefull taking a few cigs like you just done at a party, thats a slippery slope,it happened me in the past, and i will not let it happen ever again, keep strong and good luck
I'm gunna give it a go, I want my old life back, I hate smoking and I'm a smoker, it's really a damn bad addiction to have, not gunna lie I smoked my last cig like 10mins ago, I pray it's my last.
I use to love smoking, but I had a cat who I loved even more and one day she started having breathing problems and she died a month later. The day before she died I laid in bed next to her and she really broke my heart. She looked like a dying smoker, and because I smoked around her her whole life, I guess she was a dying smoker. There's nothing more painful than seeing someone you love die and feeling partly to blame. That will never happen to me again! That's why I quit 2 years ago. RIP Misty!
@carlinsaves glad you brought this up.Many people are unaware of how they endanger their pets by smoking around them.I know of many dogs and cats who developed lung disease that was eventually traced to their owners smoking. And of course spouses and family members are also affected by being around smokers
Allen Carr died from lungcancer, now I know even non-smokers can get this type of cancer. But he quit 20 years ago prior to his death? Shoulden't his lungs have healed up pretty darn good in those 20 years? He has even stated that be began exercising after he quit smoking. All I guess I can say is, I quit today, right now, and I am glad I am only 25 years old. There are people in hospitals who are 32 years dying from lungcancer from smoking.
When I first decided to quit I think I played this video about 30 times a day. It's been a month..and I haven't had one puff. Thanks Allen. BTW. You can download his book for FREE now. Its online just look it up.
me, i sound like a tosser for this but i smoke while watching this, just because its satisfying to know that people are trying to quit....my nana smoked for 66 years, never harmed her XD shut up you fools, its a waste of money and your life but if you enjoy it,do it :)
I haven't had a cig for the last 20mins or so ... and I've made a decision to stop smoking. It start now ... I'll tell everyone how it went. Thanks Allen Carr
@icedlatte123 Is this a joke? Stop being easily influenced. Don't try any drugs because i guarantee you will like them. Hang out with your friends and don't do what they're doing.
@icedlatte123 If I could go and chat to the 14yr old me, who sounds a bit like you, I would urge me to go back and hang out with the good guys. The other guy is a loser. I'm 37 now and still smoking. It's crap. You ask "What should I do?". Well, just DON'T DO THOSE THINGS! Go ahead and become the person you want to be and don't resign yourself to being someone you don't.. Good luck! x
after smoking for over 55 years i finally quit. it's been 4+ days and i feel stronger and more energetic than in a long time. i really think i'm gonna make it this time. this man makes sense and his ideas are an inspiration. this has been much easier than i suspected so far. cravings diminsh every day until it's barely there. it's more like just being strong at those occasional moments when temptation seduces. i'm pretty proud of myself and like that feeling.
the only way i was able to START trying to quit was changing my routine- i went home after uni and couldnt let my mum know i smoked so i had to stop my morning cig with my cup of tea :( or just smoke casually though the day- it was hard for the first few days but after about a week the cravings had gone and i had cut down from 8 a day to 2! big difference for me! so thats my advice to people- CHANGE YOUR ROUTINE! IT WORKS!!!
I believe it does take will power. Today is the day I decided to stop smoking after reading a book called "7 habits of Effective People" I just decided to stop as if it was nothing and said to myself once I stop, thats it! no second option! If I want to stop I stop! Once a decision is made stick to it
@theplaidmonkey i am so happy for you and because you have quite i myself no that i can quite.. i will pray for you everyday .. and please pray for me !
@OneMileyCyrusFanVlog so about a week after i made that comment (my first attempt) i failed and started up again. i hadn't made it really known to anyone that i was trying to quit. the reason i failed was i gave in to my cravings and made up justifications to have that one more. well i decided quit again about 11 days ago and so far I AM COMPLETELY SUCCESSFUL! :D first days i craved horrendously (thought i was going crazy). but ignored it and now i have nearly to no cravings at all anymore :)
@OneMileyCyrusFanVlog i think i am completely off the addiction :D sometimes i get grossed out by it too and it sounds completely unappealing. i will have random nicotine cues where i get a minor craving but it's nothing uncontrollable. I think I may have succeeded! (keep in mind i was smoking nearly an entire pack a day. every time i had a smoke, i had two. i was smoking hundreds)
@theplaidmonkey The top comment misses the point, in that you should not need a prayer (see myth number 4 in video) quitting smoking is easy when you realize you are getting nothing from it.
But i also must say I enjoy being a non-smoker. I enjoyed smoking but being a non-smoker is also pleasureable...there's a sense of pride & a freedom.. I can breathe much better & smell & taste. I wake up feeling great, like i wana spring out of bed whereas when I smoke I woke up feeling exhausted
2 play devils advocate...There mst b something good abt cigs or it wldnt be so hard 2 quit & wldnt b so addicting. Watevrs gud abt it the anti-tobacco ppl will downplay...i quit 3 weeks ago but I'm still craving.. Doesn't tht mean there mst have been something really good abt it?
he is so right, I couldn't see it when I was in it and I didn't want to see it when I read his book, but it's so simple - just by the mere realization of the facts & myths enabled me to see the whole terror I was subjecting myself to.
Thank you, Allen Carr and may your dream of an avalanche come true!
nicotine is a strong drug why is there no rehab for it?You will have a serious withdrawal. It either quit or die.I quit crack.I told that rotten little rock i hate you.I think i need to say this to nasty rotten cigarettes and overpower them. Before i die and my boys have no daddy.Nor a caring mommy.
I've quit about fifteen times. That means I've actually never quit once. Today is the day I try for the 16th time. I've found this stuff called diamorphine to replace nicotine. Jesus its good. Highly recoomend it.
I quit 3 month ago .I still have strong bouts of cravings.I agree with every single word he said esp that smoking reduces stress. In contrary my concentration has improved after quitting.Every time i feel terrible i go online and search for useful information and videos.
We are currently looking for people aged 18 and over to take part in a video diary project on quit smoking. Using Champix stop smoking tablets you will be asked to report on your progress over a one-month period. If interested, please apply via the Contact us page at 121doc.co.uk.
I'd rather smoke than be a cock sucker. But this day in age more and more communities would prefer a cock sucker over a smoker in apublic place. Absolutely amazing.
I encourage everyone to become a smoke at adult age - better than be a fat pig. Cleaner and safer than living in a city.
Day 4 is the toughest. I tried quitting several times in past and always broke down on the fourth day. I finally got to day 5 this time and the cravings are much smaller. However I am sort of cheating as I am chewing Snus 2 or 3 times a day.
@raps4life15 i was cool for 5 days then i had to work again and i smoked 2 ccigs today, now im done again, only 2 dont hurt nothing now i tell friends not to offer me.
It's wierd. I Don't want a cigarette at all. I quit yesterday morning and now i feel like i only want one so my symptons go away. I can't concentrate on anything, and everything is annoying me.
@inuyasha0xpk i know how you feel, it's the little "monster" inside you that want's the nicotine, you, your brain has acknowledged that you don't want it, do not need it, just go with the flow and let the monster die. You know you don't want it, you know you don't need it. The part where you cannot concentrate on anything and everything is annoying is because your brain is getting OXYGEN and starts to work on 100% again, it's waking up from the poison, so it's normal to feel like that!
And BTW, in a few days you will feel reborn, no cravings, no nothing, you get your life back, your body starts to recover and undo the damage, you will have more energy, you will be able to concentrate 100% first time after all the cigarettes, you will become YOU again without the handicap!!!
Kinda funny that ppl make money off this..sure if it works for u all the power too you..all this is stating is the obvious..that everyone can quite if they try hard enough...but addiction is a lot harder on some people than it is others. I quit on my own. Its tough but its possible
@avengedsoul the obvious here is not to have the will power, but to understand what this "need" for smoking or addiction is about and you will NOT QUIT but BE GLAD YOU ARE GETTING RID OF IT!!!!! and be free again, be yourself again!!! you were born as a nonsmoker as everyone else :)
I read Allen Carr's book too. I finished reading the book on June 26, 2011. Do not attempt to quit unless you are actually serious about it, otherwise you are just wasting your time. I still have the occasional craving here and there but I know the cravings should subside eventually. Honestly, even though the nicotine is gone from the body, I still have mild cravings but they are not overpowering. It's like once a day for like 30 seconds, and then it's gone.
@paLLfuckaLL How do you think some children develop cancer? It's obviously better being in a healthy environment to try and prevent problems as much as possible, but it only takes ONE cell to have a fault wherein it won't die, and the cancer will spread from there.
Causes of cancer; chemicals (smoking is included into this), age, lifestyle, genetic makeup, radiation, infection, immune system.
@paLLfuckaLL Cancer is literally when the cell fails to die. It continues to go through Mitosis (which is duplication of the cell), causing a lump. Each duplicated cell has the same problem wherein it can't die and does the same, spreading the disease. ANYTHING can trigger this; poor diet, smoke, pollution, and sometimes you're just plain unlucky. It is a good idea to avoid what can possibly trigger cancer, but you're not guaranteed to escape it.
Allen Carr says you have to have been a smoker to apply his method to help others because you'll know what its about. Does that mean he was once an obese alcoholic. He appleid his 'reframing' method to that.
There is only one thing original about this method and thats the marketting methods. The rest is called reframing. providing alternative reasons for the rational mind.
I have a question, the only thing that is stopping me from stopping smoking is all these weight gain rumours. Obviously it has been proven that cigs help your motabilism etc. I've only smoked for 2 years, only about 5aday on average, will i gain much weight? I'm 21, started training about 7months ago, lost alot of weight and gained alot of muscle but even with my training program surely cigarettes have been helping me out so is this weight gain inevitable? Much appreciated.
I hate that i picked up cigarretes i was 14 and i feel like it did alot more damage than it would to somebody else because of my age im 16 now and i'm not smoking packs a day 1-5 but im somewhat addicted. Can anybody tell me what specific health hazards that i am prone to?
What this guy is saying is possible and if you can understand it, you would be understanding a small part of how our brains work on a daily basis. If you at one point in time ate onion and found you did not like the taste, your brain continues to have 1 reason to not eat it (Dislike the taste) and no reasons to continue eating it. So the outcome is you just don't eat onion. However if you added a 2nd outcome where onion is healthy, you might just continue to eat it...
After watching this I have almost quite 1-3 cigs a day from a pack a day and some days none at all for the past week and half I feel confident after watching this that I can quite.
I haven't smoked in over a week after 9 years a pack a day, and it feels nice to stay clean and smell good all day, and to also be able to breathe so much easier now. I still have strong cravings, but I've just been throwing a dip in to compinsate.
@WedgeAdam yaaa 1st i dont speak englesh so good if you speak russian let's speak but my englesh is bad and i know thank you )))) it's not my lang i try my best
i was a kick boxing mma player after i start smoking i didnt play any thing and now i cry every day coz of fucking cigar's i am 23 yr's old and i try to stop but i ahve alot of problems with my friend's so i dont wann fight with any one so i go and bay a cigaret :((( and smoke it all what i can do :((((
@ChubbyBe U say fuck, right?Good, continue that habit and make sure you have good insurance coverage as you could be the next cancer patient. You will suffer with pain untill u can't even scream or whiper for help as you can't even speak due to lung trouble.
Cool. If ppl could realize this things. I smoke n ill stop now because of those 8 reasons

I just lost the desire to smoke completely, but i def had withdrawls. had sexy dreams about smoking for months. heres a tip: if you quit dont reward yourself for not smoking by smoking.
nativeforeigner 2 months ago
deep breaths and drink juice for the 2 weeks because your cravings can just be low blood sugar.

RIP Misty!
carlinsaves 3 months ago
@carlinsaves glad you brought this up.Many people are unaware of how they endanger their pets by smoking around them.I know of many dogs and cats who developed lung disease that was eventually traced to their owners smoking. And of course spouses and family members are also affected by being around smokers
IwontConform 2 months ago
There is something I don't understand.
There are people in hospitals who are 32 years dying from lungcancer from smoking.

the only way i was able to START trying to quit was changing my routine- i went home after uni and couldnt let my mum know i smoked so i had to stop my morning cig with my cup of tea :( or just smoke casually though the day- it was hard for the first few days but after about a week the cravings had gone and i had cut down from 8 a day to 2! big difference for me! so thats my advice to people- CHANGE YOUR ROUTINE!

Read EasyWay, it will give you a new perspective on your "cigarette craving" actually on smoking in general....
axyflion 2 months ago
@OneMileyCyrusFanVlog i think i am completely off the addiction :D sometimes i get grossed out by it too and it sounds completely unappealing. i will have random nicotine cues where i get a minor craving but it's nothing uncontrollable. I think I may have succeeded! (keep in mind i was smoking nearly an entire pack a day. every time i had a smoke, i had two. i was smoking hundreds)
theplaidmonkey 2 months ago 2
@theplaidmonkey The top comment misses the point, in that you should not need a prayer (see myth number 4 in video) quitting smoking is easy when you realize you are getting nothing from it.

It's wierd. I Don't want a cigarette at all. I quit yesterday morning and now i feel like i only want one so my symptons go away. I can't concentrate on anything, and everything is annoying me.
inuyasha0xpk 6 months ago
@inuyasha0xpk i know how you feel, it's the little "monster" inside you that want's the nicotine, you, your brain has acknowledged that you don't want it, do not need it, just go with the flow and let the monster die. You know you don't want it, you know you don't need it. The part where you cannot concentrate on anything and everything is annoying is because your brain is getting OXYGEN and starts to work on 100% again, it's waking up from the poison, so it's normal to feel like that!
tutzgureanu1981 6 months ago
And BTW, in a few days you will feel reborn, no cravings, no nothing, you get your life back, your body starts to recover and undo the damage, you will have more energy, you will be able to concentrate 100% first time after all the cigarettes, you will become YOU again without the handicap!!!

Kittywhiskers1000 6 months ago

RockCityLights2011 6 months ago
@RockCityLights2011
The younger the body the more likely it is to recover.
No specific health hazards than other smokers, as far as I know.
If you're only "somewhat addicted" it's best to stop now.

Thanks for the tips, old guy. They sound good.
CertifiedGooner729 6 months ago
What this guy is saying is possible and if you can understand it, you would be understanding a small part of how our brains work on a daily basis. If you at one point in time ate onion and found you did not like the taste, your brain continues to have 1 reason to not eat it (Dislike the taste) and no reasons to continue eating it. So the outcome is you just don't eat onion. However if you added a 2nd outcome where onion is healthy, you might just continue to eat it...
