  • looks like democracy is contagious

  • Re5Publica --- HOW Soviets restricted , AFGANISTAN people ... Tell me how ,, or you just swallowed USA goverment bullshit ...

  • Soviet Union army (CCCP) went to Afganistan to build schools , and to create freedom in AFganistan from islamic extremists ... That is what they told the people of CCCP. USA is doing the same ,,, while 100 people die a day in Afganistan ,, is this freedom ... ????

  • @aviomaster

Freedom is the absence of restriction, are Afghans less restricted now than they were under the Taliban, or the Soviet Union, overwhelmingly YES.

  • While I completely support and appreciate SSG Watson and his service to our country, I find it disingenuous to talk about "building a democracy" in a part of the world where that very concept is seen as alien and evil. We have done a lot for the Iraqi people, and now it's time for them to pick up the ball and do with it what they will. We've done much more than our share, and now it should be up to them to drive on...

  • Support the fine folks in our military. Good post!

  • SSG Jim Watson gives me great hope for our country. Men like him are what makes this country great. I sure wish we had a bunch more like him (state rep.) and serving. Most folks in our government seats don't want to serve, they want to be served and folks like them are destroying our nation.

  • SSG Jim Watson exemplifies the dedication and service that our citizen volunteer Military brings to this mission. We are fortunate to have him in Illinois Government and look forward to his safe return home.
