Dave Guard was a great innovator and brought great things to American music, but I think the Trio found real balance when Dave left and John Stewart joined up, making Bob and Nick shine. In both incarnations, the Kingston Trio was tremendous.
I'm too young to have seen their "Hungry i" days--but I have heard that their shows were some of the most entertaining that North Beach in San Francisco has ever seen (and for those of you that don't know, San Francisco has "seen" just about everything there is to see...).
--No electronic gimmics, no "camera tricks"--just pure talent, chops, and enthusiasm--live and 15 feet away.
I saw The Kingston Trio in concert every chance I got. This video shows how great they were in live performance. They were even better in concert than on record...The best ever.
Finest American folk group, bar none! I loved the original incarnation with Dave Guard, but John Stewart was no slouch (and neither is George Grove). Nick and Bob were fabulous entertainers. Loved them all.

They were a great trio! They taught us what Ballard music was all about.

Incroyable; merveilleux et dire que Dave, Bob et Nick allaient se séparer quelques semaines plus tard !!!!!!

This is great. I always loved the Kingston Trio AND Pat Boone. I still like Pat. The guy looks pretty damn good for his age even today.

Awesome performance! I have more respect for Pat Boone now as well, he could belt it out. And Dave Guard is a monster...

The Kingston trio was a lotta fun.
If you wanna do business w/ Collector's Choice, I hope you have better luck than I did.

i've bought a lot of CD's from Collector's Choice and never had a problem. You can always get the Trio CD's from Rediscover Music.
