  • It's the Video Card. I repair computers and have had to fix 3 different Sony Models. The Motherboard must be replaced because the video Card is attached. Sony Has a Recall. Call them and if your models falls under the Recall they will replace and have the Motherboard installed for FREE!!! Does not matter if out of warranty. Just had one replaced on a "Sony All In One" purchased October 2008. Good Luck " The Computer Doctor"

  • its not the video its the lcd or the inverterboard verry easy fix you people must be dropping them or somthig i have a m1530 and it works graet i play games all the time mostly call of duty mw2 or gta iv and work fine and dont over heat try cleaning your heatsinks more often

  • I have the same problem!!! and i have no warranty!!!

  • Duude yes, i have the same problem...you wouldnt happen to know how to fix it would you ha

  • @darklight0x

go to Dell.com support and check the manual in how to disassemble it. Put the mobo in a oven at 200 degrees for 10 minutes. Let it cool and see what happens. Buy those extra fans that go underneath the laptop and don't forget to do the copper mod.

  • It's from your matrix : )

  • Overall, Dell produces some of the worst laptops in the market.

If you do have this laptop and it has not yet produced such problems. I highly recommend that you stay away from any high intensive graphical programs (i.e. games) to prevent this known issue from occurring.

Also, if you are a semi technical user, it is advised that you apply the copper mod to your laptop (search google for XPS M1330 copper mod).

  • this is the problem with nvidia graphics card.i had the same problem. This is the flaw from nvidia .hence dell replaced my motherboard with free of cost even warranty expired

  • i have the same shit, but on a compaq

  • This was the WORST PC I ever purchased. It was non stop problems from start to end. The item overheated and broke down constantly. In the end Dell replaced it, and the second one broke down with the same problem after just four months. I stopped using it and then contacted Dell last week. They are sending someone to change the motherboard again. I would NEVER buy another Dell product. I regret spending my hard earned money on this junk.

  • OMg my name is I had the mono replaces 2x nowwww it will be the 3rdtime so now I'm out if warranty I need my comp I ck eBay mobi cost 180usd do u guys think I'll have the same prob fuck this ass who invented the m1330 xps

  • ill fix it for you!

gotta rebake the gpu, and giv eit a better cooling solution

this ahppeend also becuase the fans and fins fgot chunked with dirt

even if you can blow trough it, its still blocked!

  • I got my xps sent back to me with a new mobo and a new heat sink. The bios was also flashed to A15 version.

Still appears to be really hot as always, but its working.

Maybe the new heat sink will let it live longer

  • I just recently started having this issue..at first I thought it was caused by a virus attack..but reformatting led to the same issue..however, what I notice is that I can sometimes boot up successfully, and other times the lines appear in succession if I try to boot up a few times..very frustrating! I think it's a mother board issue since my wireless card beforehand would connect to my router only once in a while whenever booting up from shutdown or sleep, and the biometric no lunger functions

  • Dell has extended all WARRANTIES of all laptops with this GPU for one year after the expiration date.

If your laptop suffers from this make sure you cal them and arrange to send it back.

    It's a world wide coverage.

  • Do you know this for a fact?

I have the same problem. I did call dell support and told me that my warrantee has now expired (since sep 2009) and I have to pay for any work is to be done.

On the other hand they did not identify the problem yet. I am realizing now from all this video posts.

    Hope this is true!

  • Well dell extended my guaranty for a year, replaced my motherboard and everything is fine now. They came on the next day actually.... so if you have the same problem you probably entitle for the same replacement.

  • i got the same problem on my fujitsusimens amilo pa 2548. what to do`?

  • Hi. Did you find out the cause for your problem?

  • nope

  • macs all the way! good luck in trying to get it sorted out mate. i've heard from a lot of people dell are awful...maybe make the next laptop an acer or mac...i've had both and both are awesome - good customer service too.

  • Acer? lol

  • macs? Can I get some of that youre smoking?

  • I've requested an extension on the website no reply yet, but they did agree to fix my computer even though my warranty has expiered. You atleast get fast service but the same crappy mobo.

  • I just go the same problem

and the "AMAZING" dell support told me my warrnty is valid in the uk not in USA so they can't fix it

  • thats stupid...

I had this problem 3 times now, and it takes up to 3 hours to get the problem over to the Indian bloke on the other end every time

  • @ilyatitov Mine does that, but mine is fine for like a few minutes, and it does that how can I fix it

  • Tell them this is a known issue with XPS.

this is a manufacturuer problem related to motherboard

  • IF you are still under warranty ask for the second gen motherboard for it. I think the part number is D057F (nvidia) , but I could be wrong.

  • The issue is that you bought a 1330 instead of a 1530. Not your fault, but the 1330 was released way before it was intended because Dells wonderful marketing team had to have something to compete with the Macbook Air. What the people who bought the 1330 got was a system that was released full of issues. They actually came out with a completely different motherboard for it about 6 months after release because of video issues caused by heat.

  • This just happened to my iPhone??? no solution??

  • i ALSO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ON MY DELL XPS M1330 , IT STARTED WHEN MY WARENTY EXPIRED, I DONT KNOW WHAT 2 DO WITH IT ?????????? I NEED A SOLUTION

  • same issue with my m1330. The problem is that the laptop was a gift to me by a friend who bought it from some dude (Not directly from Dell). When I called them they said that there's a hold on the account and that they cannot transfer the ownership/information to me. The rep told me that he cannot do anything about this and that I'd have to contact whoever sold me the computer. Unfortunately noone knows who sold the computer to my friend. Does anyone know if there's anything I can do about this?

  • I won't be buying one of these anymore.

  • Anyone know how to solve this? I have two machines and they both have same issue. formatted and put older version of the driver.

    still same issue.

    any help....

Warranty expired on these last month.

  • My Xps m1330 just got the same problem

I dont know what to do with it now !

  • you need to change motherboard. maybe will be bether if you manage to find one with intel gma x3100, this GPU shouldnt have problems like nvidia 8400. try to find one for ex. on ebay. motherboards with nvidia GPUs may have problems, but you can apply "copper mod" on chip -> insert a piece of copper sheet between GPU and cooler, temperatures should be better and GPU life may be extended. use google to find how you can do it

  • I've had the same problem and from everything I've read this happens to all XPS 1330s eventually and there is no true permanent fix. To add insult to injury, because of the frequency of the problem the GPUs are on backorder. And forget about getting any help from customer service as they either don't care or are incompetent. The product should be recalled with a full refund in my opinion.

  • I've had the same issue with my XPS M1330--only I can't get my computer to start beyond the stripes, and so can't get to my files. Has anyone had success with fixing this??

  • 1000000% agree...I bought my dell xps m1330 in august. This failure happened in december, failed again in june, and failed again now in december again. As this video mentioned the first time they replaced the mobo, second time they replaced the mobo screen and multimedia buttons...i hope this time they will replace the whole computer with a $2000 cheque!

  • I have the saae problem with my dell 1330 happened 3 times, already! i'm never buying a DELL again. and i'm having it again.. what's the problem?

  • Ditto here

  • The same happened to me yesterday... Well, maybe not excactly the same since I can see the dell logo during the boot. I don't think it was an nvidia problem 'cause the problem appeared when the graphic driver is not yet loaded into the memory. Luckely it's all ok for me now: maybe it was only a temporary overheating.

  • that happens to alot of LCD monitors, u got to replace it, ive notied it alot on particularly toshiba laptops

  • looks like nvidia issue.

    google theinquirer nvidia g84 bad

I cant post the link due to silly youtube comment restriction. :(

  • I have same problem :(

    did you solve it ?

  • che za hernya? etot komputer na milo
