  • its funny because this is exactly how people in ohio talk. haha just across the lake(:

  • I saw rewf

  • no no no we talk normally everyone else speaks weird

  • lol dude...u speak a lot

  • haha...perfect, and you sound fine, I'm from georgia, and now i live in michigan, your accent compared the ones im used to...you sound like just another american haha

  • yellow teeth eh

  • Languages are actually diverging more so than converging. There are obvious differences in vowels (which is noted here), but you cannot generalize a Canadian accent and an American accent. Within each country there are many regional differences, so it depends which specific areas you want to contrast. Although, there is a phenomenon called "Canadian raising". Some more fun words for you to contrast with an American would be "light" vs. "lied" and "house" vs. "houses".

  • I don't know if I have seen you in another video but do you live in Calgary?

  • Americans speak just like you do. :)

  • I'd love to stick my dick in your mouth regardless of your accent!

  • I have never heard a Canadian say "out and aboot" or however the stereotype goes.

  • I'm Australian and i'm really surprised you pronounce a lot of words the way we do

  • I'm american and other than out and about(and again, when you said it the first time), we sound identical.

  • I'm Canadian and I pronounce Toronto as Toron-toe, not To-ron-oh. I don't know anyone who says it differently.

  • @BritnieMikaela I say it that way too :)

  • @BritnieMikaela if you pronounce for T in Toronto, then you're obviously not from Toronto.

  • HAHAHAHA. BrantFORD. SO ACCURATE. I hate it when people say BrantFORD. It also bothers me when people pronounce ToronTo. (as in they pronounce the second T). All canadians know it's pronounced Toronno.

  • I just realized how much of a canadian accent I have...haha i'm from the states, but i'm from Michigan which is pretty close to Canada I guess.

  • Canada is a multi-cultural country, so it depends. I was born in Canada but I have a British accent thing. I'm not sure what it is. xD

  • I think Canadian accents depend our background. Some ppl would say I have a Caribbean accent, I come from a Jamaican background btw. Maybe I should do a tag one day!

  • what was wrong with milk?

  • ...what's wrong with saying "Toronto"?

  • @x0oPirate we say it like the american way of saying atlanta, it's atlanna and toraunno. (:

  • i don't think you have an accent, i'm from nyc and all the words you've said sound like how people speak here haha

  • Oh and also potatoes aren't potatoes around here there padaaydas :)

  • You aint seen nothin till you go to tignish pei.. :) conversation with them: g'day der baai..comin out for a rip on dat der skidoo round tree ? Hahah not even kidding.. I'm from pei and my cousin from montreal came home in the summer and he kept saying how he wanted a pei "accent" like the rest of us :p but in Ontario and stuff it's less noticeable I guess... "accents" really depend on what part of Canada your in ! Hahaha like around here, things aren't slippery, there slippy ;p just pei? Or a

  • @therobynproductions Hahaha, looove that someone posted the island accent! I'm from PEI too, represen'! It's roight shlippy out dere wha? I better warsh the dishes.. yeah yeah (inhalation)

  • @MacLeodS14 lol that's awesome!! hows hockey day treatin ya? & weather is craaazy eh! ;p

  • @therobynproductions Only an Islander would get some of those haha. It was definitely an exciting time on the Island :)! Crazy weather for sure.. too bad for Jack Frost weekend!

  • All the accents are different I find. I'm from the island and I think we sound the same. But some of us sound funny here, like the ones up west sound funnier. But when I go to Ontario people notice my maritime accent.

  • You didn't say about, because everytime I go to the states people who discover I am Canadian ask me to say it because they think I will say "aboot"

  • I'm going to say right now that Amarican's spell things different then Canadians like me we spell tier they spell it like this tyer it's really dumb and I all ways finish my sentence with EH!!!!!!!! Lol GO ALBERTA GO WOAH

  • u dont even hav a thick canadian accent u should here a maritimer like me talk now thurs a thick accent

  • Haha I say milk weird too!! My friends always make fun of me cause I say it with sorta a Newfie accent so I say it with a 'a' so it sound like malk :P

  • Just Givin Er

  • I think people tend to forget that Canadians from different areas have different accents (just like Americans). I'm from N.B and when I went to Sask, people made fun of my accent. Especially when I said words that end in R, like car. I also got mistaken for a Newfie a couple of times. There were quite a few words on the list that I say completely differently than in the vid.

  • @taymalin I'm from AB and met some ppl from NS. We argued back and forth over who had the accent. It was pretty funny.

  • I pronounce it Toronno lol. All people in Toronto say it like that lol

  • @Chilltown95 I'm from up by Owen Sound and I've lived in different parts of Southwestern Ontario and everyone I've met says Toronto like "Toronno."

  • @hckyroxs we do xD

  • @Chilltown95 Tororona is how i say it ..

  • I'm Canadian. I never understood how I have an accent? This American came up to me, and was like "What's with the freaky accent??" And I was sooo confused... I think I sound normal. And you say comfortable right, it's alright. :P

  • Lol, can't believe I watched this. Kinda fun I guess. Toronto is tarana btw

Thumbs up because you're Canadian. Do you know Celine Dion??

  • @jessduff86 tarana? lol, are you on crack? it's pronounced exactly how its spelled.

  • Oh, and I wish I could have a Canadian accent haha don't be self-conscious about it.

  • I actually say a lot of things like you.. Guess I'm more Canadian than I thought ha. (I'm from the USA)

  • im canadian eh

  • Is the milk thing a canadian thing...because I say it all the time like that and my american friends make fun of me lol

  • your laugh at the end is so cute!

  • I'm from quebec and i hardly have a french accent!

  • I'm canadian and I definitely don't pronounce out or about like that hahahah. I do say eh, though.

  • It's okay, I'm a Canadian too and there's sort of a southern drawl that's on my mom's side of the family. I have it too. xD

  • okay I'm from capwbreton Haha I'm gonna do a response. a lot of the words i think I say differently andd ill add a couple that people I say differently lol

  • So weird you said Brantford, cuz I realized you look familiar lol.

  • Clean off your counter, eh!

  • agree with everything but comfortable (im candian, eh)

  • I'm from Vancouver and I go to school in Virginia (down south) and you kinda sound like a typical girl around here.

  • I cant tell if you says words differently but that might be because I live in Canada too.

  • My older sister says 'Melk' and 'Hockdogs' haha

  • I've heard Americans pronounce Pink funny, like Peenk XD It annoys me.

  • Hmm you sound like me HAHA

  • I think the word route as a verb is pronounced as "ra-ut" and noun as "root".

  • AHHHH it's hard to say OUT the normal way! I always end up saying OOT. Curses!

  • I'm canadian and I have to say you do have an accent :P ahaha and I have never said oout or aboot :Phahahah

  • I'm from Ontario but live in BC now and people have told me I have a southern drawl too!

  • only one i ve heard different is crayon..my girlfriend is from New Brunswick and she pronounces it crown which makes no sense to me but i roll with it lol

  • @MultiBshane I'm from PEI, right next to NB, and I say cray-on.

  • @MultiBshane I am from New Brunswick. I saw Cray-on. Never heard anyone say crown before. :S There are so many different accents in Canada.

  • @treehilldreamer haha, I live in New Brunswick too, people are saying we say 'Aboot'?

  • @ozzylover1500 Really??? I sure don't haha

  • @treehilldreamer Yep... Tick me off... Although I'm from Ontario haha

  • im from minnesota and we talk the same

  • K so I'm from Oakville Ontario :) and I loved it there but wayyyyyyyyy too hot but I live in Calgary Alberta now I love it here too but I say alot of these things how Americans say it I hate it when Americans are like "say out and about" *face to palm moment* lol I love Canada

  • I heard western Canada talks more like Americans then eastern.

  • @NORMAATUBEE soooo true! I'm from Vancouver and we DO NOT say aboot or any of that. Eastern Canada sounds sooo much more different from the Western side.

  • @TheFirefly10 Yeah I'm Albertan, and I've yet to hear aboot or that. And when I went to the States a few people didnt believe I was Canadian cause I didn't have the accent. /:

  • I think you sound great! But I have to point that, all these differences between American English and Canadian English are very American-Canadian thing. For most English speaking people (not from North America) you guys sound very alike. I'm Polish, but I've been living in Sydney, Australia for over 4 years, and all Canadians I've met sound like Americans. And it wasn't just my opinion. Sure, there are slight nuances, but in general your accents and pronunciation are very similar.

  • @StraightEdge1977 it's like New Zealanders vs Australians to everyone who isnt from either New Zealand or Australia

  • Holy shit. Shut the fuck up bitch.

  • I'm British and the Canadian accent sounds to me like it's halfway between the British accent (wooo) and the American accent :)

  • Haha. I'm Canadian and I say ALL of those of those words the exact same as you X3

I alo say milk 'melk' c:

  • I say milk like melk too :p lol all my friends make fun of me for it

  • Canadians FTW -3 proud to be living here

  • Hi missjbm! (So FYI I'm Torontonian) funny that you say people think you have a drawl. Somebody told me that *once* (the drawl thing), but I get "you sound American". All. The. Freaking. Time. Seriously, if I had a nickel for every time... ;) And I'm torontonian born and bred my entire life. So you sound completely "normal" to me, LOL! I don't know your story, but my mom is Texas-born, Chicago raised - and we learn language from our parents as well as our peers... :)

  • I feel like in certain parts of America people do say ruff or rut. But I grew up in California and we all say roof or root. The one girl I met who lived In Canada and minnesota says ruff and rut, I always thought it was actually a Canadian thing but maybe it's just in certain

    Parts of America?

  • I've spent my whole life in Brampton which is just outside toronto

  • Lol I'm from Canada and am now worried if I have an accent or not...

  • @IcyJadePrincess same i keep repeating the words to see if i have an accent

  • @IcyJadePrincess if you worry.. THEY WIN!!

  • @IcyJadePrincess Yes, and you sound like an idiot.

  • @IcyJadePrincess Yes, and you sound like an idiot.

  • @IcyJadePrincess canadian too!! where from?

  • did i mention you're hot lol

  • yer hot

  • I'm the same way with Caribbean.

  • we say roof not ruff we're not dogs, people pronounce caribbean either way, same with route and new orleans is pronounced new or-lense but only people outside of new orleans say it either way

  • I'm from BRANTford and I pronounce Toronto Tronto haha

  • You sound pretty normal to me. But my family is all from down east. Lmfao.

  • only people in canada with REAL canadian accent are the ppl out east like ontario etc... im from bc so im normal

  • @hellbound64 people in Ontario don't sound much different, think of Justin Bieber or Drake

  • @swaggicprincess when i say ontario i mean the metropolitan area like hamilton, otttawa, toronto, etc.... plus they both left at an early age... if you know any1 whos grown up there their whole lives, in the main city area, they will have an accent

  • @hellbound64 there are so many things wrong with this statement.

  • Everyone has an accent. Not having one is when no one ever hears you speak.

  • Ok I'm from Canada (manitoba) and I say all of these words the same minus the "out and about" and I do say eh a lot. U sound normal to me. Like I u think so to :)

  • 1:58 apparently theres no such things as horses in america... she says "whores have hoofs." lolol :P

  • in all reality if you wanted to pronounce canadian words you should use the native dialect... not the british dialect

  • So THATS how the whole out and about thing started! ok..i now hear how that accent sounds you dont sound like your saying it ooot and aboot though! i know newfies when they talk stress it a bit stronger. that makes wayyy more sense now. LOL. thanks for sharing!

  • i take it your from ontario :D?

  • Comment removed

  • i can always tell if it's my fellow Canadian (being an emigrant rocks!) by "out" & "about" :)

  • where in Canada are you?

  • I say milk the same way as you! I've been doing some Canadian dialect research recently, and apparently saying it "melk" is pretty specific to parts of Canada!

  • Roof and hoof do rhyme lol. Roff sounds like the sound a dog makes haha. We aussie's say everything the way you Canadians do haha :). I think our english is better pronunciated.

  • I dunno if it's because I've got a very northern mom but I say all these words the same, and I live in the deep south xD

  • Okay I'm Canadian and I have to admit I pronounce the last T in Toronto

  • "thats what she said"

  • ahh ! I absolutley love being Candan

@ I agree about the eh part. I thin k that people think were like diffreent accent wise. but Iwent to America about a month ago. and and I was like we are out and about in the American City. and people gave me the weirdest looks. and I was also askedd about my Canadian Accent. people were like ! OMG ! say some thing candian. WE dont ride polar bears to school ! or moose. or lve in igloos or drink maple syrup like water. but. I agree with you on many things !

  • I am from British Columbia, not sure if I have an accent.

I never say out and about, ever lol .

I think I probably sound like such a stickler (stikler?) but saying it now...Owt, and Abowt.

Do BC'ians ...yeah, do they have accents? Can you tell? Cause I sure can't.

  • @animatorZee Noo you guys don't, you talk the same. aaha

  • Someone once told me I have a southern drawl as well. So weird.

  • I don't think you have anything southern about your voice... that could just be because I'm from southern alberta

  • hahaha I just realized for the first time I say Comf-tor-ble instead of Com-for-ta-ble

I live in the GTA (north of Toronto for all you non-Torontonians) and I definitely don't say out/about the same way you do lol. You have the stereotypical Canadian accent when it comes to saying things like "Out","legs" (pronounced LAY-ggs), "Milk" (pronouced melk).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm guessing you also pronounce "Bagel" differently (you would pronounce it BAG-gel)?

  • I'm American and I say everything the same besides out and about...

  • Here's a Canadian word ( ok 2 ) Shut Up! plus here's another __ Embarrassing!

  • you remind me of evan rachel wood a bit!

  • A lot of people in Canada and even in Southern/Eastern Ontario where I have found a strong accent which I have, that speak with mostly American pronunciation of words. But nice job on out and about. I think I will do a reply video as I have been watching a lot of these lately.

  • I say r-ew-f.

  • Comment removed

  • You sound great lil-mama, keep the Canadian polite accent as is indeen, we's as always and be thee - clinche tong in thaaaa woo! woo! or else otherwise...!

  • If you think you sound weird, just imagine being Brazilian trying to speak English with an American accent (and not really managing to do so) in Canada.

  • I'm pretty sure youre saying "hoof" wrong lol

  • @Lovelanguages1 I actually say it h-oo-f, not h-uh-f. I think I pronounce things a lot like the British do, but with my own Canadian accent and some Canadianisms such as ash-phalt (apparently Australian as well), not ass-phalt.

  • yup----all blondes are the same everywhere......eh.

  • You can find all of those pronunciations of words within the US. The thing that stands out to Americans is the long O that Canadians use, like "Aboot" "soorry" "tah-moor-oh"...if you've ever seen Romy and Michelle's High School Renunion, it sounds like Romy has a strong Canadian accent.

  • I grew up in Canada so that's like my core English foundation but for the past 15 yrs I've been living between new York n Buenos aires and my English is perfect(like my Spanish)and everyone but 1 person has said that my accent is american, now I'm moving to Toronto "ah-gain"after a long time and wonder how I'm going to be tagged ?I definitely don't say "ouet and abouet" (sounds cute)I wonder how Ill sound to Canucks with my Spanish accent speaking with my american accent?Does that make sense?LOL

  • I live in Canada and I say data like daytuh and coupon like kewpon

  • @lovetexting im canadian and i have never heard anyone say Daytuh

  • i pronounce crayon the same way as crown. idk why.

  • @missjbm - Where in Canada are you roughly? I'm from Eastern Ont and I still say some things differently than you! Funny some of the comments here about Toronto, I say Toronto with either a sharp second T, or soft... it varies. I say envelope as "an-vel-lope" and New Orleans as "New Or-leens".. mainly because there is a part of the city here that is called Orleans and is pronounced like that. Your video was pretty interesting though, so awesome how accents can be so different! :)

  • I say roof the same way as you, but that may be because I grew up in Alaska =P

  • I'm English and find American's are the ones who talk more different from us rather than Canadians

    Also i love Canada.. x]

    x

  • I think most of those words are the same for us folk in upstate NY....however the "ou" works like about and out do sound different but thats it.

  • YOU LOOK THE NEW SONG ITALY IO TI AMO E NON LOSAI ON THE YOU TUBE SAM Z4 FEAT GUENDALINA VERY ROMANTIC FOR GIRLS

  • Canadians say, "Eh".. in the same way a "gangster" says, "you know what I'm sayin' dawg?" or the US with their huh's?

So I'm going to the store, huh?

So I'm going to the store, eh?

So I'm going to the store, you know what I'm sayin'...?

I don't say "out" like you, I do say Ter-rahn-uh like piranha.. (Toronto) My sister says melk.. annoying as fuck that is.. It's milk.. lol no offense.

  • Also, as a Vermonter I say "out" like you do. Strange business.

  • I wonder why everyone in Vermont says Toronto as "Tronno"?

  • No, you don't really have a strange accent ....

  • im canadian :)

  • Naah, ruff is a nufoundland thing lol :P

  • @VivaLaVlogger. No, it's not. I say roof, not ruff.

  • I think that Americans are the ones who pronounce stuff weird because I'm English and I say pretty much all the stuff the same as you :L

  • @LiteralGaming I agree. I live in the south (US) and though I don't really have a "southern accent" I do pronounce certain words differently than people from other areas of the states. I was told in one of my theater classes years ago that of all the accents in the states, the southern accent shares the most in common with accents in the UK. Much of the similarity has to do with how we pronounce vowels. It's also probably why I think most Americans pronounce certain words strangely too.

  • U don't have a wierd Canadian accent! I'm from Canada and ALL the words u said, I say EXACTLY the same as u! Lol

  • theres so many accents kansas missouri texas california washington

  • I almost didn't believe you were Canadian. :) I live right by the boarder and you sound more American.

  • You can tell someone is foreign if they pronounce Toronto, tor-ron-to aha

  • @zwaik so true.

  • @zwaik so they pronounce it the way it's actually spelled LOL

  • @zwaik I say To-ron-to and to-ron-oh xDD I'm from America, but moved to Canada when I was 3.

  • @zwaik lol I thought i was weird cause i never pronounced the 2nd t..huuh (sigh)

  • Who the hell says Pecarrrn it is Pecan

  • CANADAAA <3

  • random but you look a lot like emily osment!

  • I'm Canadian and I just found a little while ago that we spell "about" aboot !

  • I say Milk like Melk also I have been given a hard time for this before and i didn't think i said it weird but finally i know someone who says it the same.

  • Pea-cans are a very southern thing... Also, extending "r"s is a very southern thing. In the south (Georgia) a tire would be pronounced "teer".

Also, when I hear the word "car" it definitely lets me know your from Canada. It sounds like "cerrr" because the "a" is extended. Of course the "ah-boot" (about) is the infamous "oh there Canadian" word...lol

  • Pea-cans are a very southern thing... Also, extending "r"s is a very southern thing. In the south (Georgia) a tire would be pronounced "toor" or "tour"

Also, when I hear the word "car" it definitely lets me know your from Canada. It sounds like "cerrr" because the "a" is extended. Of course the "ah-boot" (about) is the infamous "oh there Canadian" word...lol

  • Americans have weird accents if you ask me. They say the words sure, cure, lure, and tour like "SHORE, QUORE, LOR, AND TOR!" Odd if you ask me...I mean, America was a british colony at one point, so was canada. But its weird how a language changes over time into different variations.
