Every youtube video for a song that is in a movie people have to declare how they got here and that getting here on your own accord is cooler than liking it in a movie. Shouldn't it just matter that you got here?
Am I the only one who sees the irony of a song thats so obviously about getting stoned off your face and it was featured in a kid friendly movie? HAHA
The two top comments aren't mutually exclusive. I have impeccable taste in music and i was therefore able to recognize this excellent song from Batman Forever. LOVE FOR EVERYONE!
I love the Flaming Lips. Also, Batman Forever may not have been great, but it was a big part of my childhood, so I can't knock it. I knew Batman & Robin was a piece of shit though and I was 5.
@leoselvaratnam I think there used to be at least one on Youtube, but they keep getting deleted for whatever reason. Maybe someone should ask for the video to be posted officially.
My Dad just came in from mowing the grass and was singing this song. I was really confused until I saw he had my brother's mp3 player. Then I started thinking of Batman and didn't know why until I read these comments.
While not the best film ever, Batman Forever is certainly not terrible. It's got some good stuff in there, like a worthy portrayal of Batman by Val Kilmer. Seriously, Kilmer is the second-best Batman, followed by Conroy, Bale, West, then Clooney (dead last for a reason, folks) .
I bought the album for Batman Forever on cassette when it came out. And this is the song that first got me into The Flaming Lips when I was like 10 lol <3
My boss cut my hours for the second time in a week. Smug, arrogant fucking prick. And that's just one part of the fuck-around I take from this company. If I didn't need this reference, I'd have already walked off. This song goes out to you, Beni!
Always used to love this song in batman forever but never knew who it was, just watched the scene with carrey where this song was playing, had to shazam that shit to see who sung it. I'm a huge fan of the flaming lips but haven't really given any album pre the soft bulletin a listen so i'ma make sure to give there whole back cataloge a listen.
........everytime my District manager starts his shit!........"in your dreams you can blow his head off"......this song always streams through my mind. well one day that motherf**ker will know why I smile while he's yelling:)
It just fit the moment in Batman Forever so perfectly. Edward just snapped after his idol turned him down, so rather than being able to kill Bruce, he kills his supervisor and goes on to create a new persona in the riddler. The scene where he walks into his apt as this is playing is one of my favorites.
steven's awesome, but Ronald had his own greatness. they are both incredible musicians. Wayne is probably the greatest frontman, singer, lyricist ever i think.
This song is so timeless. It has that early sixties beat music flare to it.Coinsidentaly, Batman Forever helped make this song known. When this song came on during the scene with "The Riddler", im sure all the alternative kids (excluding the emos because they don't know what alternative is) got really excited, and wanted to go buy the "Flaming Lips," album.
Whenever I hear this song, it always makes me think of some guy in a padded cell in a straight jacket singing to himself with a big grin on his face and drool coming out of his mouth.
when this song came on, the movie started to get good. great scene with the riddler. i like how we got to know the villains in the batman movies and then it circles back to batman begins. wish burton would have done all of them though with keaton till begins

Thumbs up if you're an actual Flaming Lips fan that knows of this song because you searched through their music and found it, not because you heard it in "Batman Forever".
I was looking for this song, and had to reverse search it. using youtube and the clips it has from the batman forever movie. but I too only ever remember hearing this song for the first time watching that movie. and have been hooked on it since.
I watched Batman Forever and I always remembered listening to that song that would be playing when Edward Nygma was making a riddle, Im glad i found the song :DDD
@DeadRabbitSaint ...he's referring to all the rumors of The Riddler being in the new Batman film coming out soon. There are two different Batman sagas - the Burton/ Schumacher, and the Nolan - so they aren't considered an ongoing series. Nobody in their right mind would refer to The Dark Knight as "Batman 6".
@wearethearchers Yeah that may be true, but whoever said that I was in my right mind? I just enjoy being an arrogant ass. Thats something you just cant take away from me. You can call it trollin or whatever you want. I call it being correct. Besides I didnt call The Dark Knight Batman 6 you retard. I called the next Batman, or the upcoming Batman was the 7th that people count. Notwithstanding the classic films and the animation films.
This song sounds so timeless. Yet it is modern, but it sound like beat music from the sixties. It's very fascinating, although the lead singer really carry a tune. But his inability to sing adds character. I wouldn't change a thing! After I saw "Batman Forever", I wanted to know how to get this song. I think that a lot of people did.
