Very nice. This is so much better than that other method with all of that figure 8 stuff that you have to do with your hands. This is very appreciated..and the first time I ever saw it too.
Thank you so much, this is the only video instruction i have actually been able to understand, i never learned this as a child so my adult brain struggles - so clear and simple videos are just what i needed!
Please understand, I do not mean this snotty or bitchy in any way; but would some one tell me why this method is prefered? It seems somewhat complicated, so I was wondering if it is especially useful for a certain stitch or project? Again, I'm not criticizing, I'm only asking :-)
My mother tried to teach me how to cast on using one needle and a thumb, I was 7 at the time and did not have the co-ordination or discipline to get my thumb to do what I wanted it too. So I just winged it with a needle one day and this is what happened. Some can do the thumb way and some can't. Some can do it other ways. I like this way.
I don't know if it is preferred, there are no right or wrong ways with knit, I know 3 different ways to cast on, just do what you find most comfortable/easy/gives the best knitting
Thank you so much for this video!! I couldn't figure out how to only cast on 1 stich. With others you always end up casting on 2 to start. So this really helped me.
Snowflakes stop being so rude, dont wrorry spambat I agree with you there are ltos of ways to cast on. SnowflakesCS I think your the one who needs to do reasearch if you think there is only one way.
what's the name of this type casting on ??? i'm used to seeing the cable casting on where you start with a slipknot and weave the needle through the yarn. but this is interesting, thanks.
If I had talked the voice quality would have been bad because the EyeToy was on my shoulder, as for speed, I'm going a lot slower there than I am in my other video asnd when I knit on my own.
This is a good way. It is helpful. But this way is much slower. Sorry but Mrs. Moskowitz's video had a better way to cast on. If her way confuses you though this is the way to go thats less confusing =) Good video though.
Thankyou so much. I will try this. Is this a better method than the long-tail method? What is this method called and is it good for certain things e.g. cables? Very nice video.
thanks a lot.... very helpful.... i am starting now......

Thank you :) There's almost always a few ways to do something when it comes to knitting.
SpamBAT 3 years ago
Where on earth did you learn to cast on by wrapping the yarn around two needles? I think perhaps YOU need to research 'how to cast on'!
SnowflakeCS 3 years ago
Maybe I should have re-worded it to "a way to cast on" considering there is NOT ONLY ONE WAY TO DO IT.
Maybe you should take some chill pills and stop using youtube as a punching bag for your anger management issues.

How? Why? and keep rude comments to yourself and be more respectful and straight forward.
SpamBAT 4 years ago
you didn't help anywhere because you just showed it and also because it was too fast.

yur freakin' serious? it was on your shoulder, oh my god that must've been hard. i'm still going to get my cousin to help me knit it.
mtran41 4 years ago
It was. Had to keep my shoulder tense.
Hope I helped in some way, I hate the idea of casting on with my thumbs.

I already knew how to cast on with my fingers, but this was a nifty method. I'm trying to get PAST the cast on stage, haha. Thanks, this was cool!
piratehooker316 5 years ago
i am so frustrated trying 2 do this.
samtiffany 5 years ago
OH NOOO
this was how I USE to knot, don't go clockwise around the needle in your right handle, go anti-clockwise
that means TOWARDS YOU otherwise your knitting will be to tight and feel jumbled and tangled.
other people cast on with their fingers but I never got the hang of it so I did it this way and it wors fine for me
SpamBAT 5 years ago
omg, me too. i've tried to cast on like..50 times..i failed each time.
