I think, with a little more volume, you could have been pretty near perfect. But I understand the problem, I've had a similar experience!
But a truly remarkable voice you have, If I close my eyes I can see Fred and Ginger twirling to the music. So for that, combined with the superb orchestra, it's 5 stars from me! Hope you're still singing!
I admit, I'm not happy with my vocal on this either.
It's becuase I learnt this to sing at concerts and thus, I gave it a loud, bold vocal line. But when it came to recording this in the studio, it damn near broke the mic and they askde me to sing it quieter which in my oppinion, and by the sounds of it, yours too, just didn't work. Had I had more time to practice, I like to think I could've done it better.
