I recorded this from the radio onto a crappy little cassette recorder off a john peel session in 1980..I played it endlessly and still haven't found anything to beat joy division...still got the recording kicking around somewhere.
A struggle between right and wrong you take my place in the showdown, I'll observe witha pitiful eye, and humbly ask for forgiveness. A request well beyond you and I Heart and soul, one will burn....
@discokidx1 The music from this last decade may be better than any decade of the 20th century before. We are living in good times for music. There is so much. Turn off the radio, look around, educate yourself. Kids, stop blaming Bieber for your ignorance. There are many bands today making great music comparable the past music greats.
i hate how this band became a hipster icon all of a sudden. Why now? It's good that they're getting recognition, but why by hipsters? gosh. i've been wondering, but are the boxsets worth paying for if i already have UP, Closer, Substance, and Still?
Without a doubt Hannet's dark landscape mood effects are sprawled all over this album. He made Morris sit up on the studio roof and beat away on whatever with a mic attached to get different effects.
@donnybrooklads Songs like She Lost Control and Transmission in my opinion weren't great on the CD. But when it's performed live on BBC, that was Freaking Amazing!
When i discovered Joy Division, i thought i didn`t need to listen to anything else. That was it. THE band, THE music, THE singer. Everything came after them. Anyone else had that same feeling?
@makidtrej Closer had to grow on me a bit. Actually, most of their stuff did. They can be kind of a hard band to get into just 'cause they're so dark, but once I did, I loved it.
@rudimentaryjl - It's Invasion Of The Bee Girls, a cult sci-fi B movie from 1973. They have a trailer on Youtube as well. A great video to one of JD's best tracks. RIP Ian
lyrics are wrong, he says "An abyss that LASTED creation", as opposed to laughs. although i can see how you got mixed up, it sounds extremely similar, especially with ian's tone of voice in this song.
One of my favourite JD videos on youtube - you did a brilliant job! Who knows what JD would have gone onto after the classic album Closer, surely the greatest band ever. RIP Ian
I saw JD in Nov 1979 - they had a chemistry and had a profound influence on me. They hit a nerve liveand I have been a fan ever since. I then saw New Order in 1980 when Movement had just been released - they were very disappointing, like they were at a loss without Ian Curtis. RIP Ian
You probably caught New Order at a bad a time. I would guess they were still finding their way and still grieving, because I think they were fantastic.
not too many people know of this song though cuz it was never played in CONTROL. Some lines was read in the beginning, but never played. Such an underrated song. Ian Curtis will live forever in my heart and soul
Verdaderamente, Libro826, aquí has hilado muy fino, y has creado una pequeña joya. Joy Division te lo habrian agradecido. A seguir en esta línea. ¡¡¡¡ Vivan los videoclips creativos de nuestros mejores temas!!!!!!!!
I love this effing song every morning i sit on the squashed train on my way to work and i feel like getting up and swinging around the effing polls! It just makes me wanna sway and move...
The great thing about joy division is the fact that the songs are timeless. They sound just as good today as they did back in the day. R.I.P. Ian Curtis
everyone sources there sound from somewhere, everything has been done.
just like in writting terms there is only so many things to write about.
the editors are more epic than joy division in the way that their guitar sounds cascade over one another. they love the use of the crescendo whereas joy divsion liked to keep it simple. hence the post punk tag on them.
i think they are both amazing bands, with amazing sounds.
What do you mean by more epic, the way that their guitar sounds cascade over one another and the use of the crescendo? I checked out a couple of Editors songs and was totally disgusted by them. Very boring pop songs, totally mainstream, done about a million times before. And Joy Division was keeping it simple?!? Off course, off course
I recorded this from the radio onto a crappy little cassette recorder off a john peel session in 1980..I played it endlessly and still haven't found anything to beat joy division...still got the recording kicking around somewhere.
